We just recently moved away from San Antonio, but decided to come 'home' for our anniversary. We tried this hotel due to a combination of great price and very close proximity to the Alamo, the Riverwalk, restaurants, and even a Walgreens for snacks, drinks, and other hotel room needs. We chose the 2 bedroom apartment to have additional space, and the apartment was VERY nice. The kitchen didn't have basic hotel appliances... these were full size residential appliances, and definitely not 'bottom of the line'. The fridge not only had an ice maker, but ice access and water in the door. The kitchen was stocked with everything needed for cooking, the coffee maker was a Keurig style, with coffee, decaf, and various teas to choose from. The bathroom was 'vintage' style to match the historical age of the building, and you didn't have to worry whether there was hot water... there is, most definitely, and it is HOT. The shower is large, and the sink is taller so you don't have to bend over to use it. The bedrooms are very nice, with not only large closets, but the larger bedroom had a walk-in closet. The beds were very comfortable... I could have snuggled in and slept all day. lol. The sofa is basically a twin bed when the back cushions are removed, and I found it very comfortable as well. The dining room table seats 6. Now for the 'negatives'. The tv doesn't have cable, and apparently you have to download apps yourself to log into your own streaming accounts; no biggie, except when we tried to do that, it went to a tv setup screen that we couldn't figure out. We always have a laptop and our phones, so we just used those. We were also never able to connect to the internet... we chose the wifi, entered the password, but it would never connect. Not sure if it was where we were located in the building, but we were disappointed with that. The staff was very friendly and always smiling; the only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is that we don't have the option for a 4.5, 4.8, etc. I would give them a 4.8, and only that instead of 5 because, although we were able to text the front desk (which I love), the response time isn't fast, and I never got a response at all to one text I sent. Another downside is that there is no pool of any kind, but, I also realize that this accounts, in part, for the lower room rates. Overall I would rate the hotel a 4.9, for the beautifully appointed rooms and fantastic location for not being ON the river. Would definitely...
Read moreHad a one bedroom studio for 8 months. Enjoyed the experience of living downtown and the easy access to the area. Safety was my number one concern but I did not have a problem. There are two access points for entry, although sometimes only one or the other works. Noise was not as loud as I expected but that was because my window was facing the hotel and not the street. Loudest noise I heard was the trash pick up. Did not get noise from other units either.
If you're getting a studio less than 300 square feet be aware you'll have to consolidate and use good storage. However you are able to make it your own. The interior design does make it easy to have your place look very modern but with a vintage feel. The bathroom for me was where I needed additional storage, a rolling cart was my easiest fix.
For parking I chose a cheaper further located flat lot, but that helped avoid downtown traffic.
Utilities that are not usually listed are: HVAC, gas, and water are allocated by cost depending on your square footage. Your electricity bill for CPS will come in low, mine was usually around $20, but during the summer the HVAC price did increase due to use so you'll see the cost there. They require renter's insurance which you can get through them, and they also charge for a pest fee.
Management while I was there was responsive but it honestly did slip up when there was a change around May. I cannot comment on maintenance repair because I didn't not need any.
Ammenities are limited but I would recommend to use the lounge if you're hosting or want to go to a room that's bigger. I was able to use it for group gatherings and game nights. It will be louder because of the pizza place nearby. Near my move out the did distribute discount cards which was a nice bonus.
My big tips would be: 1. Enjoy the location and how swanky the place is 2. Speak up if there's anything you need fixed 3. If you're having friends over take advantage of the city's Downtown Tuesday that offers free parking after 5pm in citiy parking, closest lots are Houston and Travis Garage 4. Download a ticket app and grab cheap last minute tickets to venues nearby 5. When moving in and out, be aware of the alley and have someone keep an eye out on the moving van/truck/etc in case it needs...

Furthermore, no breakfast was available, contrary to our booking confirmation, which caused us great inconvenience. However, the hotel blamed this on booking.com, as they say they informed them as far back as 9th November that breakfasts had ceased. |The hotel was very apologetic, but blamed Booking.com, and advised us to take the issue up with them, as they were unable to provide the accommodation we had booked. They say because it was booked via a third party booking agency, they are not responsible if the advert was misleading. |We have made a complaint to booking.com for advertising misleading accommodation and await their response. |The hotel is a nice place to stay and is extremely central for downtown San Antonio and only feet from the River Walk.|The staff on reception were absolutely brilliant, friendly, sympathetic and apologetic. |I would recommend this hotel, to anyone visiting San Antonio because if it’s downtown central location, but suggest you double check with them what room you are being allocated before 1) Arrival and 2) Cancellation period. |Although the hotel offers no parking, there is a 15 minute drop off lay-by outside, and the hotel provide luggage trolleys, plus cheap public multi storey car parking is almost opposite the hotel with a short convoluted drive...
