At first I was sceptical. San Antonio being such a vast and saturated place of small wonderful restaurants of all types, how was Texan sizzle going to compare? Noticed the place was cute and quaint, wasn't busy at the time, which was nice. I ordered the Texan cheese steak, as recommended to me by the lady working the register. It was a great portion, looked juicy, perfectly cooked, cheese flowing and hoagie toasted lightly. First bite.. wow.. I immediately recognized that this wasn't going to be just a quick bite before resuming my day. But an experience. As the flavors danced in a harmonic melody of amazement, the euphoria that followed dilated time, made my hairs stand on end, and was reminiscent of back in school, head on desk..jumping awake as you succumb to the feel of falling. What felt like an instant was in reality a few minutes past. Second bite.. I had to brace myself, because I knew that my standard of "hole-in-the-wall" restaurants was about to be obliterated, as this anxiety and excitement came over me. I couldn't wait another moment, and took the second bite. And it did not disappoint, as I was rocketed with a feeling of nostalgia, transported back to my grandmother's dinner table. Tears start to form and the presence of unconditional love vibrantly shook my body. I could hear my grandmother ask me "how is it" and consciously I let out a "I love it" awkwardly as I was sitting in the restaurant. When finishing the sandwich I was saddened by the realization that my inquisitive journey through my meal was coming to it's end. I kept striving forward though with confidence.. as all things in this life come to an end eventually. If I could rate this place higher then I would. 👏👏👏

We were in town for the weekend from N.Texas. I knew that SA was known for their breakfast tacos and found two favorites in the downtown area. So we came by just before 10am on a Sunday and found the owner waiting for his help to arrive. Poor guy was at the mercy of this generation that shows up when they want. He asked us to come back in a few minutes, so we ventured around the corner and stopped by a local coffee shop. Sure enough, he was open around 10 when we walked back by. It’s a small dining room with only a few tables but already it was almost full. We ordered our tacos and got one of the last tables. You can’t beat the price. We got four tacos and a side of hash browns for just over $20. That was amazing alone. The cashier brought them out about 10 minutes later and they looked AMAZING 🤩! We also realized these are huge breakfast tacos and we could have ordered just one each. Well they didn’t disappoint. The tortillas were so good and fresh. My first bite was the sausage and egg. OMG 😱 it was good! He even seasoned it well. Hot and tasty! Then my bacon and egg was even better. Loved that he uses thick cut bacon and it was crispy! You hit these tacos out of the park! The customer service deserves a 6th ⭐️ though. He came out of the kitchen and thanked us for coming back like we said we would. If we come back to SA, this will be our place for breakfast tacos!

Texan Sizzle is a good, but basic, burger joint. Veggies are fresh, and so is the meat, so it's a definite step up from fast food, but otherwise there was nothing special about our burgers and chicken sandwich. Buns are very soft, but not soggy, which was nice. The picky kiddo wouldn't eat the burger. This is a definite hole in the wall. A tiny space made into a restaurant, with just a few tables, so not handicapped friendly, unfortunately. The only beverages they had were bottled soda and water in a small cooler, at $3 each (not $2.95, which was the price on the menu). Food was reasonably priced, but there aren't any kid meals, so they'll have to get an adult meal. Not really a kid place, anyway, so that's okay. Service was good, with a positive attitude. No parking, so you'll be walking to get there. Very small, so you may not have a place to sit. No real 'atmosphere', they're there to make and serve food. Just a good, basic place for locals and those passing by.

Saved my 5hr drive for a special night out (show then dinner) for my birthday!!!

Busy little local place we just happened by after our show let out later than expected (9pm). Had to check on my pup in our hotel room. We headed out late to eat - about 9:45? Nearby restaurants were listed as "open" via google - but it was for their bars only - no food after 10pm?! We tried several places 🫤. (Don't recall kitchens closing this early last time I was in town; 2012... SA has changed a bit!)

Lucky for us, we found Texan Sizzle around 11pm - The Texan Cheesesteak Sandwich was AMAZING!! ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥 (Beat the pants off a Philly - and I would know 😱 Sorry, Not Sorry, Philly!)

Gave "Ambiance" full stars b/c it was exactly what we expected for burgers, patty melts, etc Apparently, they do breakfast tacos and hash browns also! BONUS!!

IMO: Much better than the steakhouse dinner that was planned (great steaks are not too difficult to find in TX) I can get those at home in Houston. Texan Sizzle was much more memorable at a fraction of the cost 🤯🤯 (it was that freaking GOOD)

This would be excellent for anyone on a pub-crawl or bar-hopping - depending on how late you're out 😉 Check their hours if you wanna give Texan Sizzle a try!

We will definitely be back next time we come to San Antonio. What an...
