This hotel is in a great location, but I cannot recommend it for several reasons.
First, the parking lot nearby charges $65 per day, but after check-in, guests receive a discount, bringing the price down to $45 per day. While the hotel clearly states at the front desk that they are not responsible for any issues that may occur in the lot (which is fair and reasonable), this is still an additional cost to consider.
Second, I arrived at 4:30 PM—well past the 3:00 PM check-in time—only to be told my room was not ready. There was no apology or alternative solution offered initially. I had a reservation elsewhere in 30 minutes, so I had to ask if they could provide another room at the same price. They eventually agreed, but this should not have been necessary.
Additionally, there was only one staff member at the front desk, who seemed exhausted and unmotivated. Given the delays and the general lack of service, the hotel should consider hiring more staff to manage guests’ needs more efficiently.
Many reviewers praised the wooden floors, but they are quite noisy—you can hear people walking and even the sound of luggage being rolled outside your room. You can also clearly hear voices, including children making loud noises in the hallways, which can be very disruptive.
The hotel is old, and that comes with its own set of issues. For instance, at times, there’s a sudden, loud noise from one of the bathroom fixtures (toilet or sink) or the AC unit—I’m not sure which. This is unexpected and jarring, making it hard to relax.
While the rooms are equipped with basic amenities like a coffee machine and a small fridge, they lack a ceiling light. You’ll need to turn on all the lamps to brighten the room, which can be inconvenient.
On a positive note, the breakfast was good, and the staff in the dining area were attentive, even asking how the food was, which was a nice touch.
Lastly, when you first enter the hotel, there’s an unpleasant smell—like an old refrigerator—though this smell is not present in the rooms.
I hope anyone reading this considers these points carefully before booking. For the high parking fee alone, you could stay at a more modern and comfortable hotel with better service and amenities, ensuring your vacation...
Read moreI don't write reviews but this experience has compelled me to write my first one. ||Arriving late in the evening, we traveled up to our room, got off the elevator to a distinct smell of weed. Not great, not ideal but whatever. We were so tired that we just wanted to get into our room and call it a night. Awoke the next morning at around 7am to get our day started. Plugged in the iron provided to find out that it didn't work and proceeded to leak water all over the clothes. Easy fix right? Well, easy fix at any other hotel we have ever stayed at. I called down to the front desk around 745am explaining the situation and the front desk staff said "oh, housekeeping doesn't get here until 9am so I don't have anyone to bring it up to your room." I told her no problem, I'll come downstairs and get it. As soon as I arrive downstairs, the front desk staff told me "thanks, I've left a note for housekeeping to bring you up one at 9am." Excuse me, what? Unacceptable. So one of three things happened here but, I lean more to the fact that all three happened. One, housekeeping has all of the irons locked away in a vault that they only have access to and no other staff. Two, front desk couldn't provide the most basic of customer service and retrieve a working iron for me. Three, she didn't appreciate the way I was questioning why I could not get a working iron so she decided that we were going to be punished and our vacation was now going to revolve around the housekeeper's time. I asked for the GM contact info and refused to give it to me, she actually only gave me an assistant GM email address who didn't answer me back until a few days later. Great. I wasn't even going to write a review including the ridiculous cleanliness conditions of the room but here we are with the pictures of the disgusting room. Dust everywhere, mold in bathroom, non working lights, unknown dirty stuff on the bedframe. I don't understand why we couldn't be taken care of in the first place. Never in our 20+ years of coming to San Antonio have we experienced this and never again will we because we will bypass...
Read moreIt's currently 11pm on a Saturday night and we are tired from the busy day we have had sightseeing around San Antonio. However, we were placed at the back of the hotel so we get to listen to the heavy bass dance music that goes on all night in to the early hours of the morning (this is now for the second night running, I'll need a vacation after this just to catch up on sleep). The bed is quite firm, pillows small and uncomfortable, noisy pipes and even noisier AC/heater. Their website certainly needs updating too. The rooms are not the bright colorful rooms they picture, rather than bland, plain white rooms with unusual brass pipe type fittings on the desk area and on the headboard of the bed. No room for unpacking your clothes, and rooms feel cramped. There is a fridge (edit: dropped a star as I just got drink from said fridge and it is nothing but slush now thanks to it being too cold) but no microwave so remember that if you decide to bring leftovers back from one of the many great restaurants in the area. Also beware of the creamer they leave by the Keurig in the bedrooms, I went to make a coffee the first morning and the lumps in it certainly would have made me sick. Breakfast is the one good thing about this place. Plenty of choices, the bar/dining area however looks like some cheap greasy spoon cafe in some backstreet alley. They could do with marking the main entrance to the lobby, the other outside entrance (you do need your key card) sticks really bad and you do need a bit of force to open it from the outside. This is our first trip to San Antonio and this hotel was highly rated, how is beyond me. We had high expectations only because they give the impression of high quality. I'm very sad to say, this is not the case. The one great thing (besides the breakfast), is location but we will be back to San Antonio again for sure, we just won't be staying here next time. (It's now 11:30pm and the music is...
