I wanted to love this place - I really did. I gave it 3 good shots and am now calling it. My first order was via UberEats. I ordered the raspberry romeo & the donut came with absolutely no filling. I bit into it expecting to be filled & was disappointed when it was 100% dough - and not even very good dough. Bland and flavorless. I chalked it up to busy kitchen staff and newly opened kinks. In my order, there was also doughnuts that weren't a part of my order - bummer. However, we tasted them anyway - duh. The homer, apple fritter and churro cake were a solid 4/10. The taste of the homer began and ended with the frosting and sprinkles - no other taste was detected. The apple fritter was fried in oil that wasn't to temp and thus, greasy and inedible. The churro cake was the redeeming grace of the whole order as it did have solid flavor aside from the cinnamon sugar. My second order was also from UberEats and a completely different order! Again - maybe the courier picked up the wrong box. Whatever. We dove into the box and passed out the donuts to the kids. In the box I noticed the receipt & it had our order printed correctly, but the doughnuts in the box were nothing of what we ordered. We ordered another raspberry romeo, a fluffernutter, choc plain cake, homer, banana cream pie & strawberry go-tart. The only doughnut we did receive that was ordered was the romeo & the banana cream pie. Everything else was outside of the ticket. My 3rd time was at night and with the fam. We went in person to give it one last shot. The wait time around 7pm on a Saturday night was minimal - 20min tops. Around 8pm is when the line extended way beyond their doors and down the sidewalk. The ordering process was seamless and easy. We watched as the cashier assembled the box & picked our doughnuts individually. He was placing the glazed doughnuts on the bottom w/the others on top - yikes. Perhaps this isn't part of the onboarding training, however - expect your doughnuts to taste like each other. When we arrived home & dove in, again - we were met with mediocracy. The hibiscus doughnut has excellent icing flavor, but the doughnut....:( flavorless. Fluffy, but flavorless. The strawberry go-tart was pretty great! It actually had filling. About 1/3 of it was filling. All of the other doughnuts were demolished by the kids.
Here is 1/2 of the reason I wont go back: kitchen staff cleanliness. A dude behind the counter who was also cashing people out was showing off something on his hip to a coworker. He full-on pulled the side of his black jeans down to show her something and was pushing down his boxers to get a better view. I guess he didn't find what he was looking for and then proceeded to make a latte for a customer. LOOK - I get it. Im aware far nastier things happen in kitchens and we somehow all still survive eating out, but dude - don't do that in public and 2ft away from the register. All in all - 2 stars earned. The local favorite on St Marys remains supreme and will most always likely be top...
Read moreI just wanted to say first and foremost the doughnuts here are AMAZING! No complaints there. But was it NOT AMAZING is the PRODUCTIVITY of your establishment. This is where the 1 star rating comes into play. Here is the feedback: You are aware that your wait time is atleast an hour or more. I wanted to know if you all discussed investing in kiosks where the customers can place their order, and a ticket could be given, versus your customer standing and standing when they could use their time wisely and walk around. Along with the kiosk idea, the preparation of putting the doughnuts into the boxes could be done by a person in the back versus having the cashier do it all. You should have a system where you could inform your cashiers whether or not doughnuts are available. I asked for a certain doughnut and the cashier had to step away to see if that doughnut was available. TWO TIMES YOU ALL DID NOT HAVE "OH CAPTAIN, MY CAPTAIN" available. You should give the option if your customers want to dine in or dine out. If dining it, put the doughnuts on a tray. You don't want to waste your pretty pink boxes if your customers are dining in. The trash cans were not pleasing to sit next by while im eating. The pink boxes should be assembled already. Why are your cashiers assembling the boxes after the order is given? (Just a way to save time) I hope you all start off this new year making changes to make the system work better not only for yourselves but for your customers as...
Read moreI have been dying to try this place. I love trying different donuts or cupcake places. I heard about Illinois getting one but had yet to go. So, while on vacation, I was told there was one downtown San Antonio. Yey! Not so, yey. Not only are most of the donuts pretty much $3-$4.50 each for raised (which is where the specialty ones are), but they definitely aren't worth the price. I wanted a hibiscus one, and they didn't have it, but just a plain jelly filled is $3.75! Seriously, is it made with gold flakes? I got the grape, and it was not a 7 out of 10 like the kid said it was. I live an hour away Hurts donut, and they are waaay better for a cheaper price. I'm highly disappointed. Customer service was OK. The fact you can ONLY get what they offer in a dozen is bs. NO substitutes! What?!?!?! They don't have options for 1/2 dozens. If you don't buy the pre picked dozens they offer, it's all just individual price for however many. That's super expensive!!! So a half dozen seems to be around $20 plus... really??? And nobody can substitute any of the dozens?! Which specialty is $30. Duck donuts, which is fantastic, is cheaper for the specialty ones. They are smaller, yet everything is freshly made. Even though Hurts is cheaper, I also love Krispy Kreme, and they have offers to make the price cheaper. Not thrilled with this place, and when I told everyone they thought the price per donut was outrageous. So I don't know if any of my family or friends will bother to go out and...
