I do NOT recommend for a curly hair cut.

I went in for a curly cut - I said from the bringing I knew my hair was damaged, that I was letting it grow out and only wanted the bare minimum removed. She started in the back of my head and had already finished cutting it, before showing me how much she was cutting off; at minimum 6 inches had been removed.

She kept stating (once knowing that I was unhappy with the amount removed) that in the big picture, the amount of hair she cut off was nothing compared to the amount still on my head.

By the end it did not look like any other curly cut I have received; it basically looked like she used the top of my layers as a guide and cut it straight across from there. (by straight I mean straighter than an arrow, there was no natural fall or look to my curls)

This was a month ago and I had to wait this long to write a review in order to keep it civil.

Jan SAVED my hair!!! I am so glad I found Hair in the City and to have had someone as experienced as Jan give me a devacut. I desperately needed a cut because my hair was falling, breaking, was brittle, and I was having a really hard time with my natural hair. The cut that Jan gave me made my hair look amazing and I could not be happier. Although my hair is shorter than I would’ve liked, Jan did get rid of all the split ends, shaped my hair in a very nice way and put some amazing products in my hair that left it super soft. my appointment started off with me waiting for 45 minutes because janet somehow didn't know about the time change. i figure it's an innocent mistake. when she asked me about my hair care routine, she kept telling me that i was doing it wrong. from what she said it was obvious that she did everything strictly by the devacurl standards, meaning she didn't realize that there's multiple ways to take care of one's hair. once it got to the actual cut, i was so frustrated with her that i was afraid to speak up about what i wanted for fear of being ridiculed again. now i have curls that are too...
