Food and drinks generally okay, but nothing out of the ordinary. Plus, it's pricey as the it's located in the historical district and the inflation (Jan-2023). We've been here a couple of times. To us, it's because of the location. Right outside The Cathedral Basilica of Saint John the Baptist. We can just grab some cups of Joes. Well actually, there were/is NO quick grabbing every time we were there, we waited for more than 30 minus (this time) for our foods and drinks are about 10-15 minutes.
Our order of drinks were usually simple: an Americanos, Matcha Latte (ok, this one might not be quick. Organic Uji Matcha, Steamed Milk), and the Pearl (Rooibos Tea, Lavender Flower, Whipped Lemon Honey, Spot of Cream).
Our foods orders: S’MORES (Toasted Marshmallows, Housemade Chocolate Ganache, Graham Streusel). A CROQUE MONSIEUR (Liège Waffle, Maple Smoked Ham, Melted Swiss, Black Pepper Béchamel). CLASSIC LIÈGE (Authentic Liège Waffle, Powdered Sugar) the Croque Monsieur was served on the Liège Waffle. I know Liège Waffle is their signature, but if I know, I would have asked it to be served on bread as the waffle added the unnecessary extra sweetness. It's "Monsieur" for a reason. 😁💪👨
What we really DON"T care for is the service and or the lack there of, and the service is very limited anyway. They like to get tips, but reluctant to render the service. Keep in mind, the tip is normally meant for "table service", not to be mistaken for you'all sitting behind the counter, while the customers end up serving themselves, and clean up after they're done with drink/foods. BTW, there's no table available. Not because they are that busy, but because there's no space!
They told us that food won't be ready for 30 mins, we asked if they can just keep the food for us until after we're done with attending Mass. They were reluctant (Whaaaat?!). You made us wait 30 minutes, but reluctant to keep our food for a little bit after?! I normally would dish out 'respectfully' for such attitude, but since that would end up causing me a trip to ... repentant. I took a deep breath, and sucked it all in gratefully. Hahahaha...
Read moreVery disappointed in my experience here today. The only reason I am giving two stars is because the two other drinks we got were good. We got three drinks and one of the lattes was incredibly sweet. I walked up with it and said I thought it was way to sweet and asked if it would be possible to buy an extra shot to maybe make it not taste like all sugar. The girl up front said “yeah you can. But it’ll be 15 minutes”. And when I asked if they could just do it quickly she very rudely said “nope we have to do it in order so you probably won’t want it” and I just said okay and walked away. Then later on we went back up because the coffee was undrinkable and said “can I please just have this fixed because it is not good,we don’t mind paying for it but it’s ridiculous to wait 15 minutes for a coffee you messed up” the girl who made the drinks was nice and offered to add drip coffee and the girl at the register came back up and said “absolutely not you have to wait”. Eventually they added more coffee however the coffee still tasted very terrible. Overall it was not made properly and there was no offer to remedy this or remake the drink. The other drinks were good but the customer service was very poor and seemed to be...
Read moreTL;DR The Cafe Mel with Croque Monsieur is a wonderfully well-balanced flavors. Convinced we may never come back to Savannah, Mirabelle made me reconsider.
We spent 5 days in Savannah knowing this is a city for food lovers. Several restaurants were recommended to us, but for the most part I haven’t felt like the various eateries were outstanding enough that we would plan a return vacation. Don’t get me wrong, there are several places that are great, but there are so many other cities in the world to explore that I couldn’t quite plan another vacation. I don’t want to exaggerate here, but Mirabelle’s quickly changed my mind! There looked like some interesting options on the menu, but the employee (didn’t catch her name) recommended both the Cafe Mel for it’s popularity and the Croque Monsieur for its savory/sweet combination. At first I was questioning ham on a waffle, but I was incredibly impressed! Even the Peach Cobbler waffle was delightful. The portion size was just right that you don’t feel bloated afterwards but wish there was more left when you are done. I told my wife we should come back on a weekend getaway, and Mirabelle just made our...
