My eight-day stay at The Bluff Hotel was memorable, largely due to the staff and their outstanding service. Here’s a detailed breakdown of my experience:
I have seen other travelers comment about the location of the hotel; however, I understand development and realize that may have been the case. The hotel is located just outside of the historic downtown area but is close enough to walk to the Plant, Riverfront and City Market Districts. By way of SCAD and some business locations. I guess It was not a bother because the hotel offered shuttle service from 2-10PM
Rooms
The rooms are spacious and feature impressively tall 14-16 ft ceilings, which give a grand and airy feel to the space. Each room is equipped with a microwave and mini fridge, adding to the convenience and comfort of the stay. So they satisfy the general lodging needs.
Breakfast Experience:
The hotel offers a breakfast that includes an omelet station where you can have your omelet made to order. The breakfast was meh….. Or moreso the general hotel breakfast that is usually complimentary. Ms. Anita was awesome and had to play every role during breakfast. However, an additional $17 per day was not worth it (in my personal opinion)
Bar and Happy Hour:
Fabio, the bartender, was fantastic. He worked with me to create a drink that was tailored perfectly to my taste. His creativity and attention to detail made the experience special and enjoyable.
Staff and Service:
The staff at The Bluff Hotel are some of the friendliest and most attentive I’ve encountered. Ms. Angela from housekeeping frequently checked on me to ensure my stay was comfortable. A special mention goes to Qua at the front desk, who always greeted me with a warm smile and was exceptionally helpful throughout my stay.
Shuttle Service:
The shuttle service was a standout feature of my stay. Will, one of the shuttle drivers, was kind and accommodating. However, the real star was Jazz! Every ride with Jazz felt like a personalized tour of Savannah. He is incredibly knowledgeable about downtown restaurants and attractions, offering great suggestions and insights. His cheerful demeanor and personal touch made each shuttle ride a highlight of my day. I really hope the hotel understands what a gem they have in Mr. Jazz!
Amenities and Parking:
While the staff and service were exceptional, the hotel does have some drawbacks. Parking is quite expensive. Additionally, the hotel lacks many amenities. The gym they
had partnered with closed down, and they had not secured a new partnership yet, which was a bit disappointing. I was personally nervous as a solo traveler with the ground floor accommodations with a view that looked out at a residential space…. I kept the shades closed my entire stay.
Overall Impression:
Despite the limited amenities and additional costs for breakfast and parking, my stay was enjoyable due to the amazing staff, specifically Qua, Anita, Will and Jazz . Their friendliness, helpfulness, and personal touches made a significant difference in my experience. If I were to stay at this hotel again, it would undoubtedly be because of them. They truly did go above and beyond to make me feel welcome and valued.
In conclusion, The Bluff Hotel excels in providing excellent service through its dedicated staff. If you value great hospitality and don't mind a no frills stay and the additional costs, this hotel is a fantastic choice for a stay in...

Sunday, May 12th, we were driving on our way from Tampa to NC and home. We stopped and checked in at the Comfort Inn Suites/Historic District in Savannah, GA. While my wife was refreshing her appearance in the bathroom, I used my Cordless Electric Shaver in the Bedroom. My Shaver needed to be recharged. So, I placed it beside the TV, since my charger was in the bathroom with my wife. She came out of the bathroom and we went down to the riverfront and dined at one of the restaurants there.
After we returned to our suite, we were tired from our journey so went to bed. The next morning we went to the hotel’s breakfast at the front of the hotel. After breakfast we packed and checked out of the hotel to begin our drive back home.
Upon arriving home and unpacking, I discovered that I didn’t have my Cordless Electric Shaver that I had placed at the TV in our Suite. Immediately I called the hotel to notify them about my Shaver. The operator was quick to recognize and identify my name and my home phone number. She said she would check their Lost and Found Items, and would call me back.
That evening she had not called me back. So, I called again to speak with the General Manager. He was gone for the day. Then I emailed the General Manager and explained the situation. The next day, after trying to call the GM unsuccessfully, I emailed him again. Again, he did not reply to my email. So, I emailed Choice Privileges Hotels to obtain their help in getting the GM to reply to me. They assured me that they would have him contact me.
So here on Thursday, the GM sent me an email stating that he could not locate my Shaver. It took 2 phone calls and 3 emails for the GM to reply to me that they could not locate my Shaver.
This hotel, Comfort Inn Suite/Historic District, Savannah, GA, does not have Safes in the Suites. So, if decide to stay there, you have best take all of your valuables with you whenever you leave the Suite. Or else, you may being having the same situation in dealing, not only with your lose, but dealing with a management that does not care about your experience at their hotel.
Not only did I lose a personal item, but I lost Trust in the Hotel and it’s Management. The situation was poorly handled.
Did the GM really expect to find my Shaver, after 4 days of Housekeeping staff and other guest in that room, before he looked? What if it had been my wife’s diamond ring that was missing?
My advice is to not risk staying here. There are many fine hotels by Hilton and Marriott Groups, that do have Safes in...
Read moreGreat hotel. We travel to Savannah 5-6 times a year and were excited to try Hilton’s new Savannah Tapestry hotel (Cotton Sail is the other one). The pricing for The Bluff was comparable to Hampton Inn or HGI. Self parking was super easy, no valet so in and out was not complicated. The lobby was new, pretty, and well appointed. We checked in online but room wasn’t ready as we were early. We were able to get another room on the bridge side view. Floor plan is not available on Hilton so odd rooms are bridge and even looks over the USPS and some other SCAD buildings. The girl at the desk was super friendly and knowledgeable. The bar area, Twin Spades, is relaxing. Cool place to unwind, no TVs, not very busy. The room was great. Clean and comfortable. Everything was newer and fit the Savannah area feel. Lots of positives here. The downsides: only one - distance from the main action of River and Downtown. Not horrible, definitely walkable, but when you have a lot of bags, shopping, can be inconvenient. As Plant Riverside was added, lots of positive changes in this area. Construction is still ongoing so with time, more may be added down this way so the distance may not be a factor. Daytime wasn’t too bad but after subset, low light on the side streets and walking on Bay Street is concerning with some areas not having sidewalks. Hotel does offer a shuttle (see picture). We did not use and Uber’ed instead but did see others leaving and arriving lots of good reviews of the shuttle. Downside on Uber, as always, is the peak pricing. 3 of out rides were $8-$12 before tip (but it literally was pouring rain). Our last Uber from District Live to the hotel was $26 (and 10 minutes wait for 2 minute ride) and was after shuttle hours. We walked in the pouring rain, speedily, which took about 5 minutes. Would be better walk with more sidewalks, more lighting, and more foot traffic. Overall, hotel was great and everyone was so friendly. However, given the distance, if pricing was similar, would stay at a Hilton closer to the action. I honestly hate to say that, just because we really did enjoy the hotel, and while don’t mind walking, it was just a little too far from the action at this...
