People will not say this . But they only stay here because its cheaper only than the quality inn next door. My honest opinion is the rooms are good size. Bathroom good size . Could it use some updating yes. But it's not nasty . Doesn't look old. Look very good. We were very impressed that it wasn't dated and old like the reviews. The pool is heated , small but it's sa pool people. The work out room decent size. Older property but maintained well. The check in was fast and efficient. The lobby small but doable. The breakfast is from 7am-10am can't complain about the free breakfast. The grits was good to me . Bacon ,sasauge eggs, potatoes, biscuits n gravy, toast, peaches , milk, bagels, muffins, waffle maker ,coffee, apple juice, orange juice. This parking well I'll put it this way once you find a park stay there. 36.00 a day. To me this hotel is ear everything. Food tons of bars. The reason not 5 stars , the parking and the small lounge area. Also , if it's going to rain , find a hotel that has a bigger lounge. It rained our entire trip. We had a car so we also did tybee Island, which is a shifty beach compared to Florida beaches. I mean it's a beach but hard brown, grey sand. Water is light brown. Parked at hotel tybee, parking 4.00 a hr. Also went to Hilton head beach . Public beach on my god compared to tybee Island. Very clean light color sand. Same color water but not hard sand very soft . Very nice. Tybee was clean just did look well taken care of. But the scene was full of people just enjoying the beach in both places. But savannah close to Riverwalk 2 min walk. Very nice . Lot of older people staying at this hotel. I would stay again. This is a good hotel not a motel. Just not as big as the others. But it was 90$ less per night than the three hotels across the street. It looks like a inn. But it's so much better. Trust me has a elevator. Two story. All rooms enter from the outside. No balcony. Walk up to the door. Had a king room. Gas station across the street. Enjoyed the PSTavern. To me one of the only reasonable bars with food served till 2am. Also The Portal Arcade a must to kill some time. Small arcade bar but nice for a rainy day. Forsyth Park had lunch picnic there before it rained. Bring your walking shoes . But overall nice location....
Read moreWe had joined friends for a short overnight getaway. Needless to say, our experience was awful. When we arrived at check-in we were informed of a $30 parking fee per night that is no where mentioned on their site. The front desk clerk, told us then not to leave or we may not find a spot to park when we return. We told her that we had dinner reservations at AJs Dockside. She proceeded to say that's in walking distance . She clearly has never been or knew where it was, or she would have known it wasn't walking distance. We returned at 8:30pm to find no parking available. At checkin, you are given a yellow tag to display in the window to show you paid. There were several cars on property that didn't have this displayed, so my husband, as well as our friend, went to inform the front desk clerk they were illegally parked. She couldn't care less, and we apparently were a bother to her. All she could say was there was overflow parking across the street. This overflow is not for Best Western. It is public parking, and the lot was full. She was more concerned chatting with another person, on the phone, or grabbing a smoke. One hour circling the hotel as they describe which is more of a motel. After one hour, we went back to the office area where another disgruntled family was confronting the front desk clerk about the same situation. That clerk went outside and removed her car that she had parked in the 10-minute checkin spot so the other disgruntled family can park. The clerk was visably annoyed with the customer and proceeded to say "you happy now?" My husband drove around for over one and one half hours trying to find parking even if it meant to pay again down the street. Secondly, the ac in both our friends' room and our room wasn't cooling. We had to remove the filthy filter to have air. Temps were 100 degrees. I have contacted Corporate office and made them aware of front desk clerk with her name, ac problems, parking issues and employees stand outside smoking weed. This was the worst experience ever and would never stay at this motel ever. I will stick with Hampton,...
Read moreLet’s face it, there are hundreds of choices of great to awful places to stay in the historic district of Savannah. I booked 2 other places before I finally decided on the Best Western. I am a ABnB kind of girl and do not stay in hotels very often. But this was a short visit and I found just what I was looking for! Convenient to walk everywhere, good shopping and restaurants nearby. A comfy room and friendly staff. What more could you ask for. I see people complaining about the parking but if you do your homework you will see how limited the parking is in Savannah. You cannot get away without paying for parking and I was happy to leave my car and walk everywhere. Our room was two queen beds, as we had 3 persons. It was roomy enough for us . They did not leave enough towels but that was easily remedied by asking RaDonna for more. She is a keeper! She is so helpful and cheerful. In our room the heater seemed to run constantly but sometimes with only cool air. It should probably be looked at. It would have been nice to have more annuities in the room but I am a seasoned traveler and I bring my own soap and shampoo anyway. The breakfast was amazing! In probably the past 5 years I have not seen such a variety of items. They covered every base. I probably ate more than I normally would but it was good snd it gave me the energy to spend the rest of the day enjoying Savannah and not having to stop because I was hungry. I would certainly stay there again. I realize that it was winter and the noise level was not excessive but it’s a vibrant, fun town and you should expect that it’s a bit noisy during the busy months. But for convenience and good service I would choose this...
