We have stayed at the Hershey Motel in the past and always paid by credit card and never had a problem. However, our last experience (this weekend) was horrible. Be careful when paying in cash at the Hershey Motel. The front office staff will cheat you. Our daughter and most of her senior class booked rooms for the weekend following senior prom (June 14-16). When my daughter and her friends arrived, they paid in advance for their room and were charged a security deposit of $160.00 that they also paid in cash. When they attempted to enter their room, the door was broken and had to be temporarily fixed by the maintenance staff to be usable. A window was also broken. The front office staff was alerted to the broken window and said that it would be taken care of. During the weekend, some maintenance staff acknowledged that the window had been broken for quite a while and needed to be repaired. Several times, my daughter and her classmates approached the office staff to inquire about the repair to the window. The office staff gave them the rude brush off each time. When it came time to check out, the office staff refused to refund the $160.00 security deposit and even had the temerity to request another $200.00 in cash from my daughter and her friends. When my daughter and her friends pointed out that the window was broken on their arrival, the office staff laughed at them and mocked them about the security deposit. One of the maintenance workers arrived and reminded the front office staff that the window had been broken for quite a while (before my daughter and her friends arrived). The front office staff again laughed and said that they did not care. It is clear that the front office had a pre-conceived plan to cheat these high school seniors. I wonder if the owners of the Hershey Motel even know that the front office staff is cheating its customers (indeed, given how this occurred, this amounts to “theft”). We will never frequent the Hershey Motel again. The same holds true for many of the families of the high school students who stayed at the motel this past weekend. As Seaside attempts to rebuild following Hurricane Sandy, the front office staff at the Hershey Motel are cheating its patrons. Shame on the...
Read moreNow we all know Seaside Heights motels aren’t known to be fancy but it would be nice if they were clean. This place had a rating of 8.1 on booking.com. Is everyone blind that stays here? First let’s go with the good. Location is good close to beginning of boardwalk, check in lady very kind, and the pool area is ok. When we walked into our room it was about a 100 degrees. Wouldn’t want the guest to walk into a cool room on a hot day now would we? I was just shell shocked on the filth. I do always check my rooms for filth and such but this was reprehensible. I had Lysol wipes with me and immediately wiped the entire room down. I mean it was just disgusting and here is the list: bathtub loaded with hair, shower curtain mildew all over, toilet ruined stains on bottom of seat, ceiling tiles full of mold that was covered up with upshot, sink had more hair, blinds dusty and broken, beds looked like they were made by a 9 year old, refrigerator full of grime and stains, windows filthy, and worst of all mattress so badly stained it looked like they were picked up from the local dump. Who the heck is giving this an 8.1 just look at the pictures it’s not an exaggeration. My kid was exhausted but I dragged him to cvs and grabbed a mop, Lysol, and disinfectant spray. Yup call me crazy I disinfected the entire room and lysoled the floors with the mop. I sprayed the beds down and cleaned the a room that was supposed to be cleaned. $450 I shoulda left but knew I wouldn’t be refunded because I booked through booking.com. I will be filing a credit card dispute. Rent a house if you stay in seaside it’s your only cleanly option. The video on this motels website about the spring cleaning is a joke. The property is in dire need of lots of not just maintenance but...
Read moreNothing is inherently wrong with this place. The bathroom area is decent, the room is spacious, the pool looks pretty nice, especially for kids. The problem is the beds. I honestly don't think they've been updated since this motel opened. I've never slept in a less comfortable bed. Me and my boyfriend both seriously considered sleeping in the car and regretted that we didn't in the morning. The pillows are so deflated, i didn't even know there was one under my head. You have to stack two to make one almost normal pillow and even then it wasn't enough to combat the way the bed sloped. I woke up with terrible shoulder pain and my boyfriend with neck pain. The blankets felt gross enough that we immediately took them off the bed, which is how we found the blood stains, and then we didn't even feel comfortable sleeping in the sheets. Overall a terrible experience if you care about a good, or even decent night's rest. I do. The water gets really hot as long as you let it run for a few minutes first, I almost gave up after minute three when it was still freezing. It's close to the boardwalk, but I absolutely regret my stay. Unlike the $69 deal it looks like they usually have, I wasted $170 here and let me tell you, I would not recommend this stay to my worst enemy. Again, that's only because the beds are unbearable. If they ever decided to fix that then it might be alright. If you can't stay anywhere else, bring your...
