Myself and 4 friends (all in our 20's) stayed in room 117 from July 25-27 2014. I want to start by saying that the staff is INCREDIBLY nice. My 4 friends and I felt like family. When a friend of mine's purse handle broke, one of the front desk folks (Kevin, I believe) stopped her later on and fixed it for her. They were always friendly and amicable, and it really made for a great stay. I'd like to note: the room has no dishware/pots/pans/etc. KNOW this in advance. We did, and bringing our own wares, we were happy as clams. The room didn't feel dirty or filthy at all, as some hotels and motels can. The 2nd level sun deck was lovely to sit on at night with some wine coolers. The club, Bamboo, across the street can be heard at night, but we were as far as possible from it and it wasn't bothersome at all. Distance to the beach/boardwalk is just about ideal. Not even a five minute walk! Room comes with 2 beach passes, otherwise it is $6 per day per person to go onto the beach. You can also go to the front desk for some breakfast coupons for a few places nearby. We went to Jimmy's Breakfast, barely a block or so towards the beach, which was an adorable little place with good food and okay coffee. For the price, though, you can't beat it. Front desk also has free clothespins for hanging things to dry, if you need them. Note: you will get one key for the room. Be aware of this. Make someone the key keeper in your group. Pool is nice, goes 3-5 feet. Parking lot is a bit small, but right across the one-way street is overflow parking. Not a big deal. It's not the Ritz Carlton. I get that. But, if you're looking for a family-friendly, fun, laid-back place with decently cozy beds, kitchenette, and a clean bathroom (plus SUPER NICE STAFF) - GO. Summary: We loved this place. Close to the beach, clean, super nice and friendly, great experience. This is FOR SURE somewhere I will be staying again. Oh, and at checkout, we were given a gift bag of salt water taffy. So lovely! 5/5...
Read moreI'm probably being a little generous with this review, only because I've been going here since 2013 and absolutely have always loved it. The free breakfast, beach passes, and parking are great; and I really feel welcomed there by the owner. Sadly this time, I was very disappointed with my room. We came into our non-smoking room and were immediately hit with really bad smell of cigarettes, and then my boyfriend noticed that the room service guy walking around with towels was also smoking while doing it, which is VERY strange. I'm sensitive to smoke so that was not great for me. The cover on the box spring of the bed had a yellow stain on the corner and black dots, which I can only assume (hopefully) was cigarette stain. The sink in the bathroom was leaking with a soaking wet towel underneath the pipe. There was also this MASSIVE spider (not your average spider) on the wall by the TV, that we thought maybe the cleaning service would have caught the next day, but didn't so that we took care of ourselves (to be nice). Also for me, the queen bed was not as comfortable as the times we have gotten the two double bed rooms. I will admit, I didn't tell the owner about the spider or the sheet because I felt bad providing a laundry list of things, so I will take some responsibility in that. Overall, I think the rooms could use an update, I know that costs a lot of money but some improvements done gradually each year during the off season would make a big help. Honestly for me, even just a more comfortable mattress, a bit softer would go a long way. Also, a more diligent cleaning staff would definitely be appreciated. I hope this isn't seen as a negative review and more as a committed customer that would like the motel to keep succeeding. I'll give another shot to this motel next summer and hoping that I have a...
Read moreWe went to this motel on 6/15/2015 and when we first arrived we were surprised with the quality of the room. The only problem with the room was that the towlet was broken. After we left and returned to the room we heard a knock on our door. The owner was at the door and told us that we needed to come out with our ID and to come have a talk. This women accused us of having eight people in our room when we only had five and said that she had caught us on camera. When we tried to explain to her that we only have five people and she could even check our room she did not care to listen. She than said that she had one of her employees go into our room and bolt the door shut so we would be forced to go to the main office upon returning. There was no bolt on the door and when I told her that she ignored my comment. I asked nicely if I could just see the video because I was curious as to how there were eight people entering my room and she tried to charge me 55$ to see the video. If she had an incriminating video showing eight people entering my room she would have been willing to show me from the start. After noticing that the owner was unwilling to have a reasonable conversation my friends decided that our money was not worth spending another second talking to that women. We agreed that we would leave and she could keep our money. She responded "thank you, have a nice day!" with a big smile on her face than called the cops on us. The motel room was very nice for seaside but after spending one moment being in a one sided conversation with the owner I would suggest no one goes...
