Unfortunately, horrible experience, would not recommend. My sister and I decided to visit Sedona and stay at this Best Western after I discovered the hotel chain in France in May. Arrived at the hotel a bit early and was told our room was ready and we could check in at 3. Returned at 3 to fill out the paperwork and get keys. Went to the room and opened the door to find another couple inside getting changed for the pool. A picture we can’t get out of our heads. Apparently, they couldn’t get into their original room because the battery in the door locking mechanism was out and the door wouldn’t open. So, they were given our room and we were given the same room. We returned to the front desk, had to wait for another guest to be taken care of and told a different room would be ready in half hour. We waited in the lobby, half hour came and went, new room wasn’t ready, another half hour passed, no room, no apology for the errors. Was told they hadn’t expected to use the other room they were putting us in and couldn’t say when it would be ready. We put our bags back in the car and received a call our room was ready 2.5 hours after our initial check in. Again no apology for the gross errors or for the long wait. We were told check in was between 4 and 6 and we received our room at 5:30, well within that range.
Surprised too to be told there would be no scheduled housekeeping service due to COVID. As I mentioned, I’d stayed in other BW and other hotels this year and always had daily housekeeping I didn’t have to request. Also, surprised to receive an extra charge for parking on my bill that wasn’t mentioned, when I asked about it at checkout was told the desk agent should have mentioned at checkin. (Free parking is in an adjacent lot, not on hotel property.) Had a nice coffeemaker in the room, unfortunately it didn’t work (wouldn’t stay on). Thermostat wouldn’t work either (digital display was off) so had to turn on the room A/C unit under the window (going against the posted sign to use the thermostat) cooler kept resetting to 78F; quite warm for a room to sleep.
Overall, had considered making BW my hotel of choice and had three future reservations in the coming months planning another two week getaway in November. However, now rethinking and deciding Marriott and Wyndham are better matches for me as I’ve never been double booked in a room only to open the door to a naked older man.
Best Western I am disappointed by your lack of professionalism and poor management during our stay. Shame on you; having worked in hospitality in the past, there were so many opportunities to make our stay amazing and take responsibility for your errors, instead you choose to make us feel responsible for inconveniencing you. Then, to reach out after the fact after I returned home traveling 1,500 miles. Disappointed to...
Read moreThis place is definitely worth a visit. The check-in was the most friendly and most informative of almost all hotels I have stayed at. We arrived about 7pm and they even let us know that the restaurants close at 8pm on that particular Saturday so we needed to do that sooner than later. They told us where to best park in relation to our room and mapped where breakfast was and the other facilities. The grounds are beautiful.
My status was recognized, which sounds lame but as someone who used to travel 40-45 weeks each year pre-pandemic it got annoying checking into hotel after hotel of receiving nothing when they are supposed to (and I actually stopped frequenting the M chain because they hardly ever did). Best Western definitely recognizes status and hands me waters, even in different countries so that's always a pro.
The room was a bit dated but it was fine. We had the red rock balcony view and it was so cool to get up and seeing the sunrise change the colors of the rocks right from our room! We had a quiet and comfortable sleep also. The pool looked amazing but it was too cold for us to venture to try it in early March.
Breakfast was hot and busy, the host was running around checking guests in and cleaning tables for the next guests. The coffee could have been better but it wasn't the worst and everything I had in general was good at the buffet. Sausages were plump! The salsas were delicious!
The location of this hotel is pretty awesome, easy walking to several shops and restaurants and tours, which I heard later during a Sedona tour that being able to walk is a great thing because the main road can get crazy with tourist traffic during "in season". There are many round-a-bouts and the tour guide said that most visitors don't know how they work.
So my advice would be to just brush up on that prior to visiting, not a hard concept; in the circle you have the right of way, maybe use your turn signals to signal if you are exiting the circle (or signal the opposite if you are staying in the circle) to let the other entering traffic know your intentions... but basically the overall objective for everyone is to not hit a car and to not get hit by a car. Sedona also decided to add pedestrians to the mix so that can get dicey.
But back to the hotel, I recommend it, great place to stay. Friendly and courteous staff. Both check-in and check-out were easy and quick. The parking lot is wavy/wonky but they map out your best area to park for where your room or villa is located. Breakfast was good. View from balcony was fantastic. Hands down I will be staying here again next time we come. Tha ks for a...
Read moreIt is VERY IMPORTANT to understand that this property consists of two TOTALLY SEPARATE and DISTINCT areas. One is a 5-story hotel, located right on the main street of Sedona. The other is a vacation condo complex located further back, against a stream.||I will mainly be reviewing the hotel, which is where I stayed. Note that the "villas" make up only a small percentage of the units Best Western has to offer, and most are rented out by a separate company. Hotel guests to have access to all of the facilities of the villas.||MOST OF THE GOOD REVIEWS HERE ARE OF THE VILLAS. Please keep that in mind if you are planning to book at the hotel.||The hotel has some positives. The beds are comfortable. The rooms facing the back of the property have a nice view. The lobby is nice and has a good coffee machine. There's a roof deck with a fantastic 360-degree view of the area, though it closes at night, and there's nowhere to sit up there.||The hotel's location is excellent. It's right there in the main part of Sedona, and you are a few steps away from several shops and restaurants.||However, the property has one gigantic flaw: The bathrooms. They're horrible. They are tiny, the sink is located separate from the toilet/shower, and the bath/shower water is hard to set to the proper temperature.||There is a breakfast each morning, which they promote as something special, but is your typical Best Western continental breakfast. There is no standard maid service, and you need to ask for replacement towels/toiletries.||The rooms facing the street are fairly noisy from traffic, even the high floors.||If you are paying more than $300 to stay at the hotel, you will be disappointed. This property isn't worth the $500 or so they charge for standard rooms during the high season. If you see prices like that, might as well pay a bit extra for the villas, or stay somewhere else.||The villas themselves are not perfect. They're a bit rundown, but at least they are spacious, and they're on nicer grounds. It is a walk up a steep hill to get to the main drag, whereas the hotel is right there on the street.||The hotel has a decent outdoor pool, whereas the villas have an indoor pool.||If you can get the hotel at a decent price (under $300), it's not a bad choice. Otherwise it's just not...
