Beautiful views of a sweeping landscape from your patio. Patios face just enough east to catch the sunrise. Super convenient location within walking distance of dozens of restaurants, local shops, and the Tlaquepaque village. Patio is a great place to take a quick break between visits or to unwind at the end of the day. Patios aren't completely private; if you lean left or right your neighbor's patio is directly adjacent.
Knocked down rating due to the quality of the rooms. They market this location pretty heavily as very luxurious. We had a premium room, and it really just reminded me of a place you might stay in at Gatlinburg. Room was put together and clean, but not luxury by any stretch of the imagination. Musky smelling bath towels, chipped paint, no microwave to accompany your mini-fridge, and very slow flushing toilet. Couple of cobwebs and dirt spots on the ceiling and a very well-worn carpet. Room entry doors face outside, so if neighboring parties outside get too rowdy, you hear all of it. Air conditioning unit sounds like a helicopter in your room when it gets going.
Pool, jacuzzi, and ice machine were all non-operational due to COVID-19 procedures and renovations, but no discount on our stay was given considering the lack of these amenities. A maintenance technician knocked about 15 minutes after we got into the room with the missing door to the bathroom cabinet he was scheduled to replace. He told us the check-in clerk changed our room and forgot that he hadn't had the chance to install the door. He was very apologetic, but my fiancée had just jumped in the shower and the whole situation was a bit awkward. He replaced the door quickly, and as soon as he left started berating the check-in staff over the walkie for not being more attentive. Very odd situation overall.
All in all, the location is something you can't beat and the patio view is breathtaking. I just can't wrap my mind around such a steep price hinging on those two things alone. If you're going to market the stay as the high-end of luxury, you could put a little better...
Read moreOrchards Inn is a nice Sedona hotel with some great positives and a few drawbacks. The positives include that the Uptown location is great, with convenient walkability to shops and restaurants nearby. And, the views are spectacular (particularly from second-floor rooms.) The rooms are quite comfortable. Front desk service was particularly friendly.
Some cautions, however: We found our room very noisy. We had very rude neighbors, and soundproofing between rooms is poor. (I guess if you're staying in Uptown, you have to expect drunk partiers returning home late at night.) In addition, the air conditioning was very loud. (My wife compared it to sleeping in a jet engine.) Ironically, the loud air conditioning was a mixed blessing, as the powerful white noise helped to mask the rude partying next door. I would've rated Orchards Inn a four-star hotel had I been able to get a single uninterrupted night's sleep in our three night-stay.
The room was clean and quite comfortable, although our television didn't work the entire time we stayed at the property, despite reporting the problem.
The views from the second floor balconies are great, but note that you'll need to carry your luggage up and down stairs if your room is on the upper floor. (Tip: People staying at this hotel can take out drinks from the 89Agave restaurant, which is great for a nice evening watching the sunset from your balcony.)
The hotel charges a small amenities fee, which includes a selection of packaged snacks at the front desk, but we didn't find that very well stocked. The fee does include a free water bottle to take home.
The hotel offers two parking lots, so while parking is at a premium in Uptown, we had no problem finding a spot in their lots.
With more courteous neighbors or better soundproofing, I would've been happy to give a better rating, but I find being able to sleep is, in fact, one of the important factors in...
Read moreWe will start with the "likes" first. First off, I SUPER loved and enjoyed the views and location. Holy cows batman! It was GORGEOUS and made for perfect morning coffee time :) I also LOVED the fact they gave you 2 canteens and even offered filtered water to fill them (and any other bottles you have) in the office. They also offered free coffee in the lounge areas as well, which was nice.
The check-in clerk at night was a little strange. No smile, slow, didn't seem "all there". He even almost forgot to give me my debit card back and forgot he even had it in the first place even though it was RIGHT in front of him. Very strange check-in experience. Then we notice there is no elevator up to the second floor so now we have to lug all of our luggage (my 2 daughters and myself....if you can imagine.....). Get into the room and quickly realize the room was made for either a dwarf or a handicapped person. Which is odd, because if handicapped, how did they get upstairs? Things that make you go hmmmmm.....??? No, but really, the toilet was SO LOW to the floor that I was practically squatting. Made that "Morning do" quite difficult. The sinks were equally low and I'm only an average 5'7 so it's not like I'm tall. I couldn't IMAGINE being a man and staying in that room LOL!!! The beds DEFINITELY needed some work. Lumpy and bouncy. NOT comfortable at all. Nice pillows though! I have always wanted to stay here but couldn't afford it. I finally took a business trip here and splurged and was sorely disappointed :( Unless you update the beds and bathrooms, I will not be back. It is worth staying at the Arabella (1.5miles away) for less money, better hospitality, and just a little bit of walking. We all need exercise...
