Puffin Fishing Charters — Attraction in Seward

Best day ever! Granted we had beautiful weather and calm seas but these guys are the best. We were on the sorcerer and we started out with a 2 hour boat ride out to the halibut grounds where all 12 people on the boat, limited out on halibut in a couple hours. Once everyone limited out on halobut we went to catch rockfish which took about 30 minutes. After that we headed to catch salmon. The Captain was honest that we were late in the season, but we were able to get about 20 silver salmon between everyone in addition to losing a number of them. The captain and mate were super professional and helpful. My teenagers got snagged and their lines ran together about a half dozen times and they were super patient every time. I’m from New York and this is my second time fishing with these guys and I would 100% recommend them. We ended up shipping 80 pounds of fish home which cost almost $800 , but we’ll have a freezer full of fish...

We had a great day fishing with Captain Dave and mate Cayden. Dave really put us on the halibut and rock bass. The boat's electronics were first class and the seating was very comfortable. Captain Dave and his mate were on the ball in every way all day and the mate cleaned our catch to perfection. The Avet and Shimano reels were of good quality but they were barely usable due to an absolute lack of maintenance. I would have to hand strip my wife's reel to get the bait to the bottom and my reel felt like it had square gears. I have worked in an offshore tackle shop in Morehead City NC repairing offshore reels for over 22 years so I understand tackle in good working condition. My wife and I booked a trip and went fishing on 6/18/2025 on the Huntress. Manny and Alex were our guides. There was a total of 6 people booked for that boat. We had a wonderful experience. We all caught several fish and I can't say enough good about the entire experience. Manny was the boat captain and had plenty of experience on everything and found all the great fishing spots. Alex was on deck and was a hard worker and kept everyone going. I believe everyone on the boat had a great experience as well. Everyone had plenty of fish to take home. We caught Cod, Alaskan Pollock and Rockfish. My wife even got a Quillback. We were on the non halibut boat and we caught a few halibut and put them back.
