I had an interesting experience involving the owner of this restaurant. I made the mistake of parking my vehicle beside his at the Safeway parking lot in Seward, AK. I was parked a little too close to his vehicle but there was still plenty of room to maneuver between the vehicles. I was about to back up and re-park, but before I began moving the vehicle he walked between the two to enter his truck. He purposely and forcefully slammed both his back and front door into my vehicle and then entered his Ford F-350. I opened my door and got out of the vehicle to get his insurance information in case there were damages. As I got out of my vehicle, he started his truck, put it in reverse, and punched the gas (in an attempt to intimidate me) his drivers side mirror caught my open door and nearly ripped it off completely. He then attempted to blame me and said it was my fault for simply parking next to him. I guess I should have known better, because he was taking up four different parking spots. The cops were called to the scene, insurance information was exchanged, and he informed me he "didn't have time for this right now" because he "owns several businesses in town and needed to go back to work". After he left, I ratchet strapped the door down and drove it back to the campground at which I was staying for the weekend. When my family returned from their halibut charter, I informed them of the incident and upon closer inspection of his insurance card, realized he had given us false information. My father and uncle drove to his business in an attempt to get the correct information. He refused to provide correct insurance documents and quickly became aggressive and belligerent. When asked why he felt the need to intimidate an adolescent girl, he stated "I'll intimidate whoever the f**k I want to! I was a hockey player!" We are now considering pressing charges. I would have had no issue working this out civilly. However, his behavior has communicated a lack of willingness to cooperate. Not to mention a complete lack of respect. I find it appalling that a local business owner would conduct himself in such an unflattering manner. Right now I am thankful that myself, my passengers, and the toddler that was present in my vehicle were not injured at all. I hope Charles Elliott Jackson Jr. realizes soon that his aggressive behavior will be followed by appropriate consequences. Needless to say, I will never step foot in any of his businesses. And I'll be sure to inform everyone I know of his behavior. This is an unacceptable way to conduct yourself, no matter who you are, but especially as a known public figure and local business owner in...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI'm going to be very honest here. We like the food (except the kids quesadilla) we've eaten here several times... The front counter is very nice. But the man cooking, and I assume possibly the owner, is very cheap andnot too polite. I have a 3 year old, so she doesn't really finish her food. The first time we went, I asked for a bag after we finished eating and the young lady kindly obliged, but the man leaned forward and I could hear him tell her not to give us a bag. We were handed a piece of foil and sent on our way. I assumed he was having a bad day... The second time I was smart and asked for her food to go, I was given a funny look but they put her food on a paper plate anyway. At the end of the meal we both had leftovers so I asked for something to cover the food. I was given a very dirty look by the man, and handed tin foil again. The 3rd time we went, which I was already hesitant and should have gone w my gut and went somewhere else, I forgot to ask for the food to go, oops, honest mistake. At the end of the meal I had to ask the man directly for a bag or a plate because the young woman was away from the desk. I again got a dirty look as he set a paper plate in the window, walked around, grabbed tin foil and handed it to me as he looked to see why I needed anything in the first place. He was kind to my daughter, I have to acknowledge that... But I'm sorry, for the outrageous prices he charges, he should be kind enough to give a 3 year old a paper plate and bag. $10 for a quesadilla, a tortilla sprinkled w a very thin layer of cheese and folded in half. But you can't give out a paper plate? I've never paid more than $2.50 back in Chicago. Now I understand that this is a tourist town, but so is Chicago. You get more cheese at Taco Bell. Price aside, because my issue is with the man in the kitchen. I'm very conflicted, because the food is tasty... I don't like giving a bad review, I'd rather just ignore it, but I honestly think that was the last time I'll order there. I'd rather get ripped off...

I was visiting Seward a few weeks ago and had one of the worst dining experiences. I got in a bit late (~9pm) and most restaurants were closed save for this one and a few others. Mexican food sounded good after a long drive, so we went in and waited at the counter for service. After a few minutes an employee shows up and simply stares at me. Not even a "hello." Ok I'm willing to cut some slack, maybe it's been a bad day or a rough dinner service, but it was a bit awkward.
Ordered burrito bowls ($16 each - beans, rice, salsa, chicken). A bit on the pricey side for counter service Mexican food, but it's Alaska and they're one of the few places open. I can forgive.
Food arrived and the portions were tiny! Tasted pretty average, but then I realized that the kitchen had forgotten the beans in the burrito bowl. We went to inquire and were told that they were out of beans. Um ok. That would have been nice to know when we were ordering or when they realized they were out. Instead they just hoped that we wouldn't notice that a significant portion of our $16 meals was missing.
Nothing was offered to us to compensate. We had to ask if the missing food could somehow be made up for. Ended up getting some chips comped (~$4 value).
The attempt at defrauding us really left a bad taste in my mouth. Regrettably, I can't recommend...
