I stayed at this hotel with my family due to a sports event nearby.
PROs The location was good for my needs. Near a bunch of restaurants and near the venue I needed to be at in early AM. The rooms were clean and very nice; 2 queen room was spacious and well appointed with fridge, coffee, desk, hair dryer. The beds were comfortable. Facility was quiet Good blackout curtains as well as sheers to match your preferences. The breakfast was quite nice with great options of food and nicely kept clean and stocked. A great bonus for us. The digital key was great. I liked picking the exact room that I wanted so I could be on the side of the hotel we wanted, how high a floor and even where we were relative to the elevator. Nice feature.
CONs We booked this hotel largely due to location and the pool slide which looked really cool. It says nowhere on the website that you need to have a reservation for the pool- I scoured the website after my interaction with the clerk. When we checked into our room, the pool was "booked" for the day and I was told I could return in the morning at 7 am to try and get a slot for the next day to use when the pool opens at 8 am. I have never needed to make a reservation for the pool at any hotel (with the exception of high COVID times in 2020) never mind wake up early before it opens hoping for a time slot! This should have been well noted and obvious to the patron upon booking online. A pop up with this information possibly would be helpful when booking?! My kids were obviously disappointed, and I was annoyed. We only stayed at this hotel one night and the clerk stated we could not use the pool after the 11 am check out time. SOOO, we just couldn't partake in that amenity. Plan ahead I guess- by calling the hotel at 7 am the day you want to swim to see what time slot you can get to use the pool! IDK. Seems like a super weird policy.
Our TV never worked.
Several outlets did not seem to work in our room.
The bathroom, though it seems large, is super odd to use. The double doors don't seem to want to close. There is a strange angling of the wall that makes the space very hard to use...especially with a group of 4 using the room. I feel confident that they regretted the design as soon as it was created but I guess that correction will come with the next reno.
Though I loved the digital key feature, I wanted a physical key for my husband. I used the chat on the app but they never responded. I would say don't bother using the chat since they don't seem to monitor it. Hilton, Best not to offer an option that the staff won't utilize properly IMO.
Overall, the hotel has it's good and bad points. I wouldn't probably choose to stay here again but the...
Read moreThis hotel is in a good location, close to stores and places to eat. The pool is not heated, don’t believe the advertisement that it is. It is freezing cold. If you are staying here in the fall or winter months thinking you will be able to use it, be ready for a polar plunge. If that isn’t your thing, you won’t be swimming. They also have you reserve hours at the front desk for the pool. We were told to call the front desk in the morning at 8 am to reserve our spot. No problem. The staff changed in the morning to a woman who ended up being extremely unpleasant, later in our stay. She explained that they like to save the morning spots for the pool for people checking out. I said well are the slots filled up? She said no, but in case they want to, how’s 12 pm? I said well that’s kind of later then we were hoping for so she said 11 and if 10 opened up she would call us. I said don’t worry we probably wont swim long and she said well when you reserve your spot you need to go for the full time. Interesting. Never called us, and when we went down there at 11 no one was even there checking the wrist bands we were given the night prior by the gentleman that checked us in. The pool was freezing cold and we left after about 10 minutes. My fiancé asked the same woman if we could possibly have some extra towels for the room and he was told no room service would be by later to give him towels. As we were leaving the hotel to go out, I walked to the desk and asked her if it was possible to have room service go to our room since we were now leaving and going out. She looked me up and down with a dirty look and said did you leave the sign on your door I said I think we might have accidentally that’s why I am coming to the desk. She said well you need to go remove it. She is just extremely unpleasant and mean. There is no reason for it. Goodluck if you stay here and encounter her. Update: we came back from being out the entire day and the room was never cleaned and we never got any new towels. We called the front desk and were told they are still cleaning rooms at 4 pm. I called back and someone told me that they would send someone immediately to the room to clean it and bring towels. At 4:45 no one showed up so my fiancé called the front desk and explained he needed to take a shower to go out and just wanted towels for the room cancel the room cleaning please. They said no problem. At 5 pm someone shows up. The exact time we needed to leave and go to dinner. The communication is very off at this hotel. Someone should have cleaned the room during the day and none of this nonsense would have occurred. Now I am mad and this is supposed to be my anniversary trip. I am going to bring this to corporates attention this experience has...
Read moreThis Hampton Inn in Bridgeport does not allow their pool and slide to be used like other hotels. You have to sign up for a 1 hour time slot to swim! They only allow the number of wristbands for your room type and you cannot purchase any additional wristbands for your family members. If your room supposedly sleeps 4 people, that is the maximum number of wristbands you will get. They cannot be re-used the next day, as the colors change. The pool closes promptly at 9pm, so the last time slot you cna reserve swim time is 8pm. With ALL of these petty rules, they had no attendant on duty Friday night for the 8pm timeslot on the slide. Multiple adults, teens and children were stacking on top of one another and going down the slide before the other person climbed out. I got slammed into within the slide and suffered a rotator cuff injury, from it that I am still receiving medical care on. Other members of my group had bruises on their backs and arms from people slamming into them as well. The reason I know there should have been an attendant on duty, is because the following day there was someone standing up there. The Hampton Inn knows they were in the wrong for not closing the slide without an attendant. I reached out to Hilton brands with my complaint. I received 1 call and 1 email from Michael Marques that said he "looked forward to speaking with (me)" while I was at work. I called the next morning and got put through his voicemail, where I left a message. The same thing happened again and a woman asked in a snippy tone, "is there something I could help you with?" She never introduced herself, so I have no idea if she is any type of manager or just Mr. Marques. My calls were never returned, I never got any explanation why they allowed that slide to be open with no attendants in the first place, especially considering guest have to make reservations to use it! It was rather ridiculous, since you already paid for your room with an advertised slide and pool as included amenities!||The staff also locked the 24 hour fitness room all 3 nights, citing a rule guests under 18 not utilizing the equipment. This locked out ALL guests and you had to find someone to "allow" you in. Neither of the advertised amenities were truly usable, the whole stay was so disappointing. And dealing with an injury because of their careless behavior in not supervising that slide was the deciding factor for this review. I hope I can help one other family out, spend your money at a hotel who values your business and cares about your safety. Go someplace that honors what...
