I heard it was open and decided to try it out. Ordered a variety of items. While the toppings and stuffed items are very fresh I felt that the arepas and empanada bread lacked flavor. Need a lot of sauce to bring out el sabor..
I had 1 chicken and one beef empanada...the meat inside them was good...but the breading was bland and took away from the stuffing. I guess I could of gotten a sauce to dip them in but one should not have to.
I also ordered the tequenos and these taste really good, however I would have liked them to be hot and melting. The cheese was clumped and not hot inside them. I have had these fresh elsewhere and yeah gooey yumminest is what one should get.
I had an arepa with beef and did add garlic aioli to it...it was very good except that the items in it are layered. Maybe mixing the items a little or putting sauce inside the arepa first will help blend the items more and get good bites of food all around. I got to the end of it and only had rice and arepa near 2nd half...very very bland.
One last thing is the price for what you get is pretty off. Almost 10 dollars for a hand sized arepa sandwhich is hard to pay for when I can go next door and get a gyro or a burrito or a sandwhich stuffed with goodness. Hope it gets better will try them again in a few months.
Edit I did want to add that the location is nice, very clean and the food is absolutely fresh. Service...
Read moreSo I went on opening week when they did the first arepa free promo. When I walked in I was greeted by all the staff so warmly and the space looked so nice! The line was short (I came just before a rush) and I ordered an arepa with chicken plantin chipotle aioli and some other add ons. The employees were really warm especially the employee with hoops who made my arepa. They explained the ingredients for me because I have specific allergies and were super patient. I got an empanada as well because I felt too well served to leave not paying anything lol. I sat down and the vibes were good i loved the grass wall? decoration. I ended up getting my mom an empanada as well to go after trying mine.
The second time I came was cool too. The owner/manager? recognized me and said welcome back that was cool. The hooped employee was there again with the warm smiles, A1 customer service is always super appreciated. I got Tequenos at their recommendation along with an arepa bc of course they’re amazing. Couldn’t sit around that time and they were packed anyway I guess the neighborhood caught on to how good the food is lol. I gotta go back again maybe treat myself once or twice a month i like...
Read moreWould leave 1 star but the food was good.... Customer service was TERRIBLE !! BE CAREFUL NOT TO BE OVERCHARGED !!! My husband and I had dinner there yesterday - I ordered 2 Arepas with no protein which if you order from them online will come to ~$8.50 for both.... the person working that night charged me for tofu! It came to over $18 for 2 Arepas with just the toppings! I saw this on the receipt after I paid and questioned the girl working. She said she had to charge me for tofu anyway - even though I'm not having tofu. I am not sure if she made a mistake or if the difference between a plain Arepa is $4+ more when dining in than ordering online?? Luckily,. my credit card company refunded me the $9+ difference in price without trouble - because the person working would not. Also, she served me a Cachapa with several cracks in the pancake. Not the end of the world, but I heard her say to the other person working "oh well, win some lose some" then gave it to me and said it still tastes good. This level of customer service cannot be serious. I won't be recommending this location...
