Holly's Place — Hotel in South Lake Tahoe

Holly's Place is in a great location, convenient to everything, walking distance to Lake Tahoe and a beautiful, natural setting. It is advertised as very dog friendly and is an enclosed compound. We didn't take a dog, but it was very nice to just sit and watch the squirrels and rabbits. ||It is not the same as Holly's Place from 20+ years ago. The couple of women (Holly) who lived there then were very friendly and helpful and always on hand. ||We arrived a couple hours early and the office was closed. While walking around the grounds, a woman asked what we were doing. We explained we were early for check-in. She went on to say check-in wasn't until 3pm and she would need to call someone. She was not friendly and I would almost say she was rude. ||We reserved our cabin through Trip Advisor/Booking.com and chose the stand-alone studio cabin. However, after the woman spoke with someone on the phone we were told we would be in the middle studio in another building which had 3 studios. We said we reserved the other one and were told it was already reserved. Our studio was nice, but not as big as the stand alone studio. And, when someone did check in next door we could hear them. Maybe because we got a discounted price, we were not treated with respect. ||For the three nights we were there we never saw the woman again and the stand alone studio cabin was never occupied.||Overall, we were satisfied with our studio, although it was a little small. The grounds were lovely, but not having someone to be on hand for questions, emergencies, etc. was a little unsettling. ||We would still stay there again, although it would be because of the location and grounds and not...

We were extremely disappointed with our stay in August 2016. It started before we ever arrived. I called the property 4X after I booked the stay on booked.com. I left a VM each time and asked for a call back. I never received that call. We arrived at 2:00 but no one was working in the office. When we did check in the lady in the office was rude and uninviting. My family was staying there in their RV. My grandchildren were with us during check-in. She started scolding them for things she assumed they did. I can't tell you how upset we were. As she led us to the room, the screen door fell off the hinges. Her response was nonchalant and stated that we will need to lift the screen door to open and close. I asked about the TV, she said that someone stole the remote. So for $170. a night I had to get up and turn on/off and adjust the volume. No iron, the bathroom sink was dirty, the room was dusty, electrical outlets were inoperable, no A/C and the promise of breakfast was false. My poor kids in the RV experienced no water, frequent power outages and terrible service. I need to add that their WIFI service was pitiful, awful, horrible and extremely frustrating. Went here on a snowy day and we were stucj in reno due to road closure so we found the closest shelter. We called to reserve our rooms and whe we arrived nobody was there to check us in. We called and they told us the rooms we reserved were unlocked. We reserved two adjoining rooms which we didnt even get because the other adjoining room was locked. We found out two other rooms and one of the adjoining rooms were unlocked so we called again and the manager or whoever told us we could wait which would be a long wait because of the snow, so we decided to settle in two different rooms, reassuring us that "we were getting a great deal." By the time we go there to the time we left the next early morning nobody was in the office at all to check in on us or check us is. It was disappointing. Our room was also filthy. I decided to take the mastress off the couch just out of curiosity and found out it was a futton. Which at first i thought was great because we needed an extra bed but then I flipped it open to find old dog pebbles ans what looked like small rat feces all over the futton. I understand this place was dog friendly but that couch was just filthy, goes to show they probably dont clean well. Makes me wonder if the bed I slept on even had new sheets.
