I looked for a cost-effective Tahoe stay for three nights. Booking's reviews led me to Postmarc Hotel and Spa Suites (8.2) and Yelp's (4 stars). Prepaying for this stay was a promotion, which I did. Upon arrival, the hotel desk employee presented a billing agreement with a higher cost, requiring me to a sign document to enter the room. Since this was prepaid and the price was different, I asked why. Jordan, the hotel desk clerk, shouts, "PROVE IT!" I tried to get my prepaid digital receipt on my cellphone. He laughs in my face when I show him the total after a few attempts, saying, "why are you making this a big deal when it isn't a $200 difference?" The principle, I said.||||Jordan continued in an arrogant, non-diplomatic manner, shockingly surprising me. If I needed to talk to a manager, Jordan smirked that only at 9 am the next day. I asked why he would be smiling about this. He replied, "the manager loves me so much (...)" He continues, "why I wanted to fight with him?" I say, "I do not want a fight; I just wanted to clarify the matter before signing on a billing that was unlike what I agreed on" Mocking me, he continued. I signed the agreement to go to the room but was disappointed.||||The place had few amenities, tiles falling off walls, and the room looked different from Booking's photos; it looked like a dark dungeon. Nothing was appealing about the Deluxe Spa King room. Flip-flops were needed every time the shower flooded, and it was disgusting. A towel covered the blinds because smokers were always outside our window, and the blinds wouldn't close fully. Stuck clothing drawers, that were impossible to use and missing sink stopper. Staying there was awful!||||The hotel has no elevator, ramps, or disabled access. My disabled partner cannot carry luggage up stairs to our second-floor room. I asked the desk, and they moved us to the first floor.||||I was told at the desk that if I needed cleaning in the room, it would be an extra $8. I didn't require it for short three days there. Regardless, I tipped well the cleaning lady who was in another room, who seemed to be the only person working hard at Postmarc.||||In addition, Postmarc Suites charges an $8 per night Resort Fee, this is not a Resort or Hotel in any any shape or form.||||The only positive thing was the mattress was comfortable and the establishment was a short drive to downtown area.||||We told another desk clerk about some of the room's issues on CHECK OUT, hoping they would look at and maintain it for future clients. He sighed and blamed former customers for stealing the sink stoppers, but no priority to fix or maintain...
Read moreWe absolutely loved our 2 night stay at the Postmarc Hotel. It was our very first trip to Lake Tahoe, and I was a bit nervous about booking a room at a local hotel instead of a chain or a casino, but the reviews seemed positive, and the price was unbelievable. $130 a night for the honeymoon suite seemed almost too good to be true, but it was for real. I wanted to surprise my wife with an amazing room, and the honeymoon suite at the Postmarc certainly was amazing. We walked in to see a beautiful pedestal king sized bed covered with rose petals. A fireplace in the corner, and a huge tiled area for the showers and whirlpool tub The sunken whirlpool tub was HUGE and I mean hold a whole family huge. This room was perfect way to enjoy our 11th wedding anniversary. The mirrored walls and ceiling, combined with the open showers, fireplace, and rose petals definitely helped set the mood for a romantic getaway. The only negative issue at all was that the makeup/sink counter was pulling away from the way and was slanted, but otherwise the honeymoon suite had been well maintained. The front desk staff was super friendly, hooking us up with local information and discounts. Outside of the hotel was a little hazardous, as not all the parking lot and pathways outside had been cleared of snow and ice, but considering they had gotten 3-4 feet of snow just 3 days prior, we could understand. Running the snowblower outside our room at 9 AM wasn't great, but we recognized the snow needed to be cleared too. My favorite part was the location of the Postmarc. The location was great. Away from the busiest part of S. Lake Tahoe, but close enough to restaurants, shopping, and entertainment. Being just a short 5 minute drive down to Heavenly village was great for my wife who loved the shopping there. And for me being able to simply cross the street in the AM to the Lake Tahoe Vacation Resort and then catch buses at to Heavenly Ski Resort and Sierra at Tahoe was awesome!! If you are looking for a romantic getaway at small boutique hotel, the Postmarc is your choice. We will definitely be...
Read moreThey let us check in VERY early, but that was where the pleasant surprises ended.
We were immediately "upgraded" to a room with a larger jacuzzi tub (thought that was a good thing, turns out I was wrong).
We walked into the room and immediately smelled something foul. I actually began checking the nooks and crannies of the room in search of a dead rat. It was my wife that realized the smell came from the drains. We flushed the toilet a couple times and ran hot water down all the drains for ten minutes. Once the room was aired out, the smell never came back.
The "upgraded" tub was this disgusting hospital-room pink color. It looked like it was made in 1975. Had a dingy gold faucet with nasty opaque knobs -- something you'd see in grandma's house.
The bathroom was enclosed by hospital-style curtains (again with the ugly pink). The room's front door sits about 2-3 inches off the floor, so you'd better be quiet or anyone in the hall will hear you.
Went to the front counter to get advice on things to do and both time was met with incompetence. Both times I got a different person and they both assisted me with a GOOGLE SEARCH. Gee thanks guys, but I can do that from my room.
Lots of remodeling going on in a number of other rooms. Quiet at night but they start early in the morning and go throughout the day.
If the room they gave us was the room that was pictured, I would have never chosen this place.
UPDATE: Management replied to this exact same review on Tripadvisor and used quotation marks to imply my wife and I never stayed there. Simply reinforcing...
