I have one day left of my stay here, and I am going to be completely and utterly honest with this review. I am writing it now because I know nothing will change for the better in the next 24 hours. If you are thinking about staying here, just know that this is not a hotel and that each of these rooms or units or townhomes are individually owned. I stayed in a unit that was very similar to a standard hotel room.
I stayed here five days and I got no sleep because the room that I was in is right next to the main Boulevard so you hear traffic all day all night and then the people that were staying in the unit above me had a lot of small children, and it sounded like wrestling matches were going on 24/7, or they were bowling up there or they were doing sprints 24/7 up there, they didn’t know how to walk normal, it sounded like they were coming through my ceiling all of the time and it started at very early hours such as 6:48 AM, 7:18 AM, 8:22 AM, so I got no sleep whatsoever due to the noisy traffic outside which is nonstop and the people staying in the room above mine. I did put in a complaint at the main desk and I’m not sure if the girls did anything about it even if they did, the people upstairs were extremely inconsiderate and didn’t care that there was someone staying below them.
This property is extremely old. Where you pull in to check in, there is nothing but stairs I did not see any sort of ramp for easier access getting to check in so get ready to hump your luggage up a lot of stairs. My room is kind of hideous the walls in general we’re just pretty nasty. The refrigerator is very small. The carpeting is extremely cheap. Almost reminds you of indoor outdoor carpeting. The entire bathroom area is extremely tiny and needs a serious upgrade. The showerhead has a lot of hard water buildup on it so it looks pretty disgusting. The toilet area is so tiny there really just is no room to move because the shower/tub is right next to it and that whole area. It’s just so small.
After walking on the carpet in my room in my socks for 10 minutes, I noticed at the bottom of my socks were absolutely positively filthy black disgusting. I couldn’t believe it. I took a picture and showed the front desk folks and they said that’s because the owners will not shampoo the carpet and if they do they want to charge more so I asked them if they can come up and vacuum it again I’m not sure if they did or not. I would like to think they did. Additionally, I almost sliced my foot open on a piece of carpet trim that was sharp and sticking up. I brought it to the attention of the front desk people, and they took care of that.
I will say that all of the ladies that work downstairs at the front desk or absolutely phenomenal. I was treated with respect they have great personalities. They are straight up, honest with you when you bring a complaint to them which is very nice that they’re truthful and honest and so I don’t think they get enough recognition. My experience with them was wonderful so I want to thank all the women who worked at the front desk during my stay you ladies were fantastic, so thank you I know a lot of this is out of their hands hands.
In summary, I will say this: If you don’t give a rats behind about your accommodations, then you might want to consider this however, if you are a person who expects a nice looking room, a nice clean room, and a room where you’re able to get sleep and get the rest that you need don’t stay here. Stay somewhere else. I really wish I would’ve done more research and stayed either at the Hilton or the Marriott because when I found those properties after walking around I was kicking myself in the head that I did not stay at either one of those. I just would not recommend this place if you’d like a nice accommodations. I think if the owners would put some money into this unit that I stayed in, got it and modernize it and really improved it, it would be OK but this place is just really old. The hallways need rehabilitation. The elevators need upgraded. Good...
Read moreMy family and I certainly do NOT recommend Lakeland Village Resort! For starters, the pictures online you see while booking, do not represent what you see when you check into your room. The rooms overall (décor, condition, vinyl, furniture, carpet, etc.) are all extremely outdated and in need of major repair. I've attached pictures, but the carpet was badly stained in multiple rooms, there were Cheez-it crumbs all over the couch from previous occupants, one of the bed comforters and couch cushions were stained and torn, the smoke detector was missing in the ceiling (just a hole in the ceiling was visible), the AC/HVAC did not work (during the month of August - really) - but there were numerous fans in the closet, the 3rd floor window screen was sitting on the floor by the window, the dishes in the cabinet all needed to be re-washed, we felt like the deck was going to collapse if more than one person stood on it at a time, the front desk and pool house were constantly out of towels, the staff did not check on you or offer additional towels or to pick up trash during our nearly week long stay. When we asked to change rooms, the guy at the front desk when we checked in (Wednesday afternoon on 08/07/19) said nothing else was available, and that he could offer no discount saying the property management company is not responsible for any of the items we mentioned. He said all the damages and repairs are the responsibility of the owners. We showed him the pictures of all we found, and he persisted in blaming the owners. He said "we just manage the property and are not liable for those issues." He told us he could give us a refund if we wanted to "go somewhere else". Go somewhere else?! We booked this over a year ago (due to Hot August Nights / Car Show) and all the other visitors we knew would be in town at this time. Everything else was entirely booked or insanely priced (in and around Lake Tahoe) when looking for same day reservations and lodging for 8 people. The quality of this whole facility is absolutely awful! The staff is extremely rude, uncaring, and far from attentive to the needs of their customers. The only, and I mean only positive feature about this place is its location. The location has a very nice beachfront and pier to go swimming or boating from and you are near numerous shops, restaurants, casinos, and other entertainment. That's really all that saved our trip. Please don't be deceived by the online pictures when you are looking to book your stay at this property. I've worked in the Hotel/Restaurant Industry my entire career (over 15 years) and have never stayed anywhere with this level of falsely advertised rooms and poor customer service. We strongly urge you to book elsewhere if you're visiting the South...
Read moreWe stayed at Lakeland Village two years ago and LOVED our room. When we booked this vacation we knew we wanted to come again.
The first room we were assigned this time around was awful. It was absolutely filthy. Many surfaces were sticky and/or dusty, there were cobwebs all over, the room smelled musty like it hadn’t been used/cleaned in a long time, the walls were stained and dirty. Most lights were dying or did not work at all, TV didn’t work, fireplace was making noise and didn’t work, couch was very uncomfortable and had springs sticking out. Unit was very outdated and all furniture/stairs were very cheap and felt unstable, broken, or both—including the flimsy stairs to the loft. This is not including some of the odd structural choices made in the room: a shower in a closet, the loft stairs hanging over top of the couch, open crawl space above the patio, etc. All around we were very unhappy with the room as it was NOT worth the price we paid—ESPECIALLY considering this looked nothing like what we saw in pictures or experienced in our previous stay.
The service rep at the desk that night was AWESOME, and got us into a new room right away. He gave us a couple options to look at before deciding.
The second room was very clean, we had no problems turning anything on, and furniture was very comfortable. We were able to finally relax in this room and felt it was worth the price.
When we had called the desk to tell the rep which room we decided to go with, he said “I thought you guys might choose that one as it is the nicest (of the options we were given)”. That alone tells me they are aware that not all rooms are created equally.
As mentioned, we were very grateful for the rep helping us get into another room so quickly and easily, but there needs to be more standards for the upkeep of the units. Otherwise, they just should not be priced equally and people should get more of a choice before getting assigned a room. This issue could have been avoided by maintaining higher standards or pricing different rooms at different rates accordingly. The pictures and virtual tour do not offer any views as to what some of these subpar or worse rooms look like, so guests are misled to think their room will be similar to the pictures. Judging by other reviews, we are not the only ones to have this experience. If there had not been a new room for us to move to we very likely would’ve demanded a refund to go elsewhere.
As much as we enjoyed our first stay a couple years ago, and the remainder of our stay after switching rooms, we are hesitant to come back in case we get stuck with a...
