Me, my sister, and our 63-year-old mom from St. Louis Mo was in town visiting family when we were racially profiled and harassed by the overnight manager on Dec 6th around 1 am. We were in our room getting ready for bed talking, having a conversation, and someone knocked at the door. My sister opens, and she says y'all need to be quiet, I've had complaints, and my sister asks why are you talking to me like that. You're rude, and were just talking to each other. She goes to say I hear yall down the hallway. My sister said, "How were here with our mom, no one making noise like that. By her rudeness, I proceeds to say who is that. I never would have thought that was a manager talking to us so rudely. So my sister shuts the door. I get out of bed to put my clothes back on to see what the issue was since my name was in the room. We go to the front desk. I simply said hello, were you the one who knocked on the door? I wanted to make sure that everything was ok and that we were just talking to each other. She goes to say that after 10 p.m., there is no noise policy. There we're two complaints and I can hear y'all. If you get 3 complaints, you get put out she said offensive. Mind you all when we 1st arrived getting off the elevator you could hear people talking in they're rooms, once we walked in our room we could also hear our neighbors talk, so the hotel walls are thin, but it didnt lead me to call peace disturbance on any one. So I asked if we didn't know about the 1st 2 complaints until now, an to hold anything against us because we were asking to be spoken to respectful is crazy to me. Remind y'all when I checked in. I wasn't giving a receipt or anything stating the rules of the hotel, breakfast times, etc. We then asked her what noise we were simply talking about. My mom is hearing & and impaired, so we kinda have to speak a little louder for her, but not loud enough to where we would be disturbing anyone else. She immediately starts to yell and shout at us. I told her to please be respectful. There's a way to say things to people without being rude. She goes on to say that when my sister opened the door, someone cursed her out, which wasn't true. She goes on to say I can talk to you all how I want to. I explained that that's not how a manager should handle things, and we felt racially profiled and attacked, especially for just talking to our hearing/impaired mother in a room that we spent $521.72 on. She called the southhaven police, they rudely tried to put handcuffs on me for asking why we were getting put out. we did nothing but because we asked her to talk respectfully to us as guests. They held our door open no privacy while we got our 63-year-old mom who has a heart condition and is hearing/impaired out the bed and was forced to leave the premises. I also have everything on video with her confirming her rudeness towards us for no reason. Also, have footage of police officers telling us how to file a complaint against the hotel. I am also a loyalty member, and never ever had this happen to me before. This is also my 1st time staying at this location. I will never reside there again. I paid for 4 nights. I would like a refund and for her to be fired. The southhaven police department had their heads down after they saw that we weren't lying. They told us that our story wasn't the same story as what she had told, and since it was private property, we had to leave without looking at our video or listening to our side. Which goes to show she made up a lie. Please make sure y'all pull those cameras and give her a lie detective test. Obviously, she lied to the officers, so I know she's gonna lie to upper management. I also have my proof and will take further action. I retrieved four officer badge numbers and names and will be filing a report on the southhaven police department also. I advise no one to stay at...
Read moreWe chose this Holiday Inn express after researching all the hotels in the Memphis area for amenities and safety. I did not think we would have to have issues with the basic services. In addition, IHG now has a policy stressing, cleanliness and service, which is not what we received.||We checked in on a Tuesday staying for five nights. We did not receive any beds being changed or even cleaning the room and what they called freshening up the room until we actually had to ask the evening clerks upon returning back to the hotel after our days activities. Our bad was not changed until Saturday the day before our last day of Sunday. The evening clerk was most gracious and provided us with towels when we called and apologized several times.||The breakfast bar is one of their touted amenities. It was adequate, but several days they ran out of juice, then told us the juice man didn’t come, one morning we were eating, had just gotten our plates, and the attendant close the doors to the breakfast item without even asking if we needed anything else . it was actually not quite 9:30 AM the closing time. Our towels were left outside the door, trash was not picked up and this is nowhere near what I expected from a Holiday Inn express. When we complained to the front desk, the clerk stated “ there’s nothing I can do about what wasn’t done “. This was at 2 PM on a Saturday and she said we were not on the schedule to be cleaned. The previous desk clerk had told us that we were scheduled to be cleaned on Friday, which did not happen, and so she said she would try and get someone to clean the room Which eventually took an hour as we sat in the lobby having to wait to get back in our room..|There are several other what I would consider equivalent quality hotels in the area, which we will definitely look at closer and not return to this Holiday Inn express. When staying five days at a hotel, I would expect to have a clean room and fresh towels daily. This was totally...
Read moreThis is by far the worst experience I have ever had with an hotel when we are out on vacation. The manager Chris Patel was unpleasant and rude, stated he watched my family on the cameras, refused to give us extra towels for the room when our room only had 2 in them, he questioned me of how many guest I had in my room and after stating how many I had he still refused. We went to the indoor pool at this location and normally they would have pool towels available for guest but when requesting pool towels he accused me of throwing a party and stated again that he was watching us on the cameras. Later that night, I called to request a small blanket for a guest in my room that wanted to sleep on the sofa sleeper and he stated I couldn’t have a blanket and that I had to call corporate if I wanted a blanket. So I asked if I could request a refund & we would just leave the hotel and find another one nearby he refused to give a refund. It’s was my son’s birthday, and he ruined our day of how he treated us. No one else in the hotel was questioned how many guest they had in their rooms and I feel as if he is racist and targeted myself and my family. He needs to be removed from this location because I have never had an experience such as this one. Anytime we visit the Southaven/Memphis area we always book here, but after this experience NEVER AGAIN! I will not give anyone with his demeanor and work ethic my...
