My stay at this hospital was superb. I met the most nice, caring and informative people. From the admissions desk to discharge the following day, everything was great. The facility was nice and clean. The staff that I came in contact with was nice, patient and so sweet to me. I was there for a knee replacement, out patient surgery. After surgery, I was put on the 8th floor. My nurse, Mrs Diane was outstanding. The saying, " you can't judge a book by its cover" is true; that's my summation of Mrs Diane. She is a seasoned nurse. One that has been around for some time. She knows her profession. She does what is required of her. She is informative. compassionate. friendly, loving, kind and so sweet. She comes from a family of nurses. I could go on and on about Mrs Diane. My sister and I both thought when she introduced herself as my nurse for the night; that I had an old, white snobby nurse that we were going to have problems with. Ms D was so loving, kind, sweet, informative, great personality etc.I wanted to bring her home with me. We got to know her and fell in love with her. We need so many more Ms D's in our hospital. My discharge nurse, Ms Jasmine was a sweetheart too. I couldn't believe that I had two great nurses on an overnight stay. I would definitely recommend this facility to anyone. I would love to come back for another night stay and have my right knee replaced but my surgeon, Dr Salaam is moving to El Paso,Tx. I might be going to El Paso to get my right knee replaced. Yes, he is just that good that I am willing to follow him. I could not find an orthopedic surgeon here in the MS Delta to help me with my OA knees. I live in Cleveland,MS. I have traveled to Greenville, Jackson, Oxford, Grenada, Southaven all to hear "No, you have to loose some weight". No one cared about my pain, my mobility, my situation. Dr Salaam has practiced for a lil over a year in a clinic in Olive Branch, MS. By the time my MD meets him and refers me to him, I am told he is leaving, moving out of the state. Both of my knees were bone on bone. No cartilage in neither one. I was told years ago by a physician, that I would be in a wheelchair. I am obese with high BP and a severe case of OA. Dr Salaam is so confident in himself and what he does. His reputation is outstanding! Nothing but good things are spoken of him and his work. He was willing and ready to do both of my knees together due to him leaving. We had agreed to do that. I changed my mind, listening to others about my size and rehabilitation. My surgery went well. I am not having any problems with my left knee during my healing process. Dr Salaam is Awesome! We really need him to stay and more like him, here in the MS Delta. Mississippi gets some good doctors and surgeons, but can't keep them. That affects the hospitals and hospitals reputation. Dylan saw me to my ride. He rolled me out in the wheelchair and helped me get in my car. Good bedside manners to Dr Colton. My discharge physician. I like your personality Mr Les, my discharge clerk. To all others that helped make my stay peaceful, I thank you. My visit...
Read moreNursing staff was phenomenal. They were very kind, caring, and knowledgeable. When you needed something, someone responded within minutes. They also took their time to explain everything to you as they did procedures and why these things needed to be done. Respiratory therapy was also very kind and efficient. I know that their procedures like breathing treatments need to be done Around the clock, but being awakened at 11 PM and then again at 4 AM just seems a little unnecessary. It seems like those treatments could be done at maybe 10 PM and 6 AM so that patients could get some sleep. Lab personnel were also very nice but they also came in in the middle of the night tto wake me up to draw blood. The ones I had were also not very efficient at accessing vain. Dietary staff was absolutely amazing.. They were very kind and thoughtful. These ladies were truly one of the bright spots of my day and wanted to make sure that I could have food that I could chew & that I liked including the beverage. I only dealt with x-ray one time and they were fine. They emergency room and ICU were beyond wonderful. Both places the staff worked together & incredibly smoothly. Those nurses & ancillary staff knew what they needed to do and when . Of course I have no complaints with anyone on the ICU step down unit or the 7th floor. The only complaints I have with the entire stay was that I felt the coordination of procedures could have been planned better between the different departments.. For instance: one night nursing came in with IV meds at 10, respiratory at 11 with the breathing treatment,, around 12 nursing to disconnect the IV, At 1 am the lab & nursing were in the room working,, between 3 & 4 respiratory for breathing treatment, 6 vital signs,, 6:50 nurses to do charge of shift report. Basically, I was awake the entire night with someone doing some kind of procedure.. I will say this, however I believe if I have been taken to another hospital where the staff were not as observant and fast acting, I probably wouldn’t have survived. So I am extremely happy with Baptist De Soto and the staff for their amazing...
Read moreI wish I could convey or put into words how thankful and just simply amazed at the entire staff throughout this facility. From the ER staff, room transport staff, surgical staff, the recovery floor staff, even the discharge nurse. They all went ABOVE and beyond for my wife and I. We were traveling to Destin, FL for a family vacation when my wife had a severe case of appendicitis, resulting in an appendectomy.
We were seen right away in the er, we were given a room within a few hours to await surgery. The Surgeon stayed late on a Sunday!!! A SUNDAY!! In order to perform the surgery that most Doctors would have pushed off until Monday since the appendix hadn’t ruptured. However, when she found out about our situation and us having to send our boys with our parents to the beach. She said I’ll make it happen and she did! She said I have 2 (I think was the number) emergency surgeries to perform, but, I will get you in today! It was around 2:30 or 3:30pm and the floor nurse was preparing us to stay the night and have the procedure the next day when she got word we were up and even she was like WOW you guys this is a huge deal. Which further reassured me that A. We picked the right place. I say we, I should say God put us here because it defies the odds having an emergency and ending up in a place so amazing and B. We made the right choice to stay and have the procedure vs. getting antibiotics and having it done at home when we returned. Again, it defied the odds, the only explanation is God choose this.
Again, I would be unjustifiably representing the entire staff and facility if I tried to summarize into a few words how amazing this place is and how much all their small gestures meant to us. They made it their mission to get us reunited with our boys. Each nurse we interacted with knew our situation and made sure to reassure both my wife and I while also making sure we were comfortable.
I hope everyone in the city knows you have an amazing facility and an amazing group of people representing you. I wish I could do something to let them know how thankful we are. However, again nothing would...
