My server was attentive and kind and I ensured she was tipped, even though I didn’t get to enjoy my meal. The kitchen staff needs to be replaced or verify they are food safety certified. I ordered a seafood boil with crab, clams, and shrimp. After consuming my corn, a crab claw, and three clams, I realized the clams were old and rancid. They had a putrid smell, similar to feces, and were mushy in texture instead of the firm rubbery texture I’m used to when I eat them. I shared this discovery with the server who also smelled it and immediately took it to the kitchen to be replaced. Several minutes later, I was shocked to discover that the kitchen had simply removed the clams and sent the same bag back to my table. If you know anything about seafood, spoiled shellfish can be extremely toxic and cause food poisoning within hours. Considering I used to be a national food safety administrator and was still understanding as a patron, I’m extremely disappointed and felt disrespected that my situation was handled in this manner, after being so reasonable. I could’ve been irate and caused a scene but instead I was calm and pulled the staff to the side to avoid customers hearing about my poor experience. Read moreFirst of all my daughter got sick eating oysters. My daughter was fine before she got there and then she order the oysters she didn't get them no special way just garlic butter. And then she got sick throwing up she didn't even make it to the bathroom waitresses and everyone in there saw her throwing up. I asked to speak to the manager some woman came to the table first off she was dress like the other waitress I thought a manager suppose to be dressing different so the customer know who they are. So this woman/manager i guess came to the table precceed to ask me how did my daughter get her oysters like the flavor I said she only did garlic butter no spice. So I ask her was the oyster fresh did the person cook them right. The Manager said they fresh because they lights were out the lights came back on saturday on the 22 we was there Sunday the 23 so the manager said they had to throw everything away and get new food truck to com that including the oyster. But me as a customer how do I know you are not lying to me you can tell me anything to make your restaurant not look bad. But you know my daughter throw up so as a manager what you going to do about it to make your customer feel satisfy she didn't offer to discount my food or she didn't say we didn't have to pay for the oyster. Read moreThis was our first visit. We ordered the weekend special boil with the lobster, and let me tell you, this is the happiest I've been with a seafood spot in a while.
The flavor on the medium garlic butter was perfect! Right amount of heat without overpowering. Just enough seasoning to bring out flavor without a gang of sodium. The shrimp and lobster were done to perfection. I'm not a huge fan of snow crab because there isn't much to them usually, but these clusters had plenty of meat. The corn wasn't over or under done. The gator bites were probably the best I've had. Perfect texture and flavor. The fried green tomatoes, yum. I didn't care for the breading. It needed more flavor and less dryness, but they were good.
Service was a bad start. I mean, "I don't want to eat here" kind of bad start. Truthfully, some staff seemed young and green. Nothing more training can't fix. Young people need to learn communication and not just standing around, leaning on counters. And why are they on their phones during shift? There was a redeeming quality after we were seated, Janae (sp?) was the best! She was definitely a busy lady but she was on it. Checked on us regularly and had a great, friendly personality.
