Back Yard Burgers — Restaurant in Southaven

Today we ate lunch at the Backyard Burgers on Goodman Road in Southaven. As a general rule, we don't eat at a lot of the restaurants in this area because the traffic is almost always fairly heavy to really a cluster **. Today, we just wanted simple food.

I've always liked Backyard Burgers for some reason. They have interesting offerings. Veggie burgers that have always been good -- actually sometimes preferred to a beef burger (. . . did I mention I grew up eating beef and could easily enjoy a well cooked steak anyday?)

Today I got the Black Jack Chicken Club . . . really tasty. You know how when you get through the outside seasoning on chicken, it all tastes like chicken on the inside? Well, this filet was well flattened and the seasoning was in every bite. I really nice change. I got the seasoned fries which was different for me and truly enjoyed them. Nicely crisp!

My husband got the Southwest BBQ Bacon Burger. He doesn't have my history with Backyard Burgers, but admitted being pleasantly surprised. He also got the onion rings as a side which were nicely fried without being overcooked.

The Host/cashier who took our order (Crystal maybe?) was pleasant. Before we left the restaurant the cook came out of the back and checked for our satisfaction on the food . . . honestly, I have never had that happen in a fast-food restaurant. Shortly after, another gentleman checked on us and took our serving dishes. We weren't expecting that either.

While I've probably been in Backyard Burgers that were newer or not as well worn as this particular one, I've never been to one with better service. This unexpected positive experience will definitely...

Had to get a full refund because everything I ordered was lukewarm and tasted terrible. I ordered a burger and the bun was hard, the fried pickles were soggy, and the meat tasted like it had been sitting out for hours. The hotdog I ordered had barely any ketchup or mustard on it. I asked for a milkshake and when the lady said the icecream machine was down, she followed it with a chuckle as if it was funny that they are being an inconvenience. My large drink was overfilled to the point it spilled over and I had to use all of the 3 napkins they gave me to wipe the mess in my car. When I asked for more napkins, the young lady snapped at me saying that it's in the bag. When I came back to get to refund, the same lady came to the window and just stared at me like she wanted to fight. The best thing they did was put my money back on my card right then and there. It has been a long time since we've been to Backyard Burger and wanted try it again. I'm not too keen about going through the drive thru because most of the time,, my order gets messed up.. We went to the one located in Southaven, MS drive thru. Big change since I've been there. The young lady at the window seems too nonchalant or didn't care and probably the reason why she messed up our order. At first we ordered two mushrooms Swiss burgers and then changed it to three, along additional order. So when we got to the window, paid for our food, my son wanted to check our order before we left.
