Great service. Nice clean modern atmosphere. I had been here 5 years ago and remember being pleasantly surprised by the food but I was underwhelmed in my return to the area today. The fish was hot but the pork chop was not fried crispy and just barely done. They kindly replaced with no questions asked. The fish i received in place of the pork chops was hot but barely done. It wasn't fried as crispy and well cooked as the previous one. The replacement cornbread muffin wasn't warm again. They just added another one from wherever the previous one came. The sides were luke warm not hot (fried potatoes, blackeyed peas, macaeroni) and they were out of peach cobbler (3pm ish) I spent $40+ and I was disappointed. The staff was nice and even came to check on my replacement. I was impressed by this however they are missing some things that I can attribute to training & process issues not personality. I was so impressed by this place 5 years ago I wanted to open one in wisconsin where I live. They need to be able to consistently cook meats to perfection. One fish was cooked perfectly and the other was not cooked well enough. That doesnt give consumers confidence when they aren't sure how the meat will turn out. Also the corn muffin which can be equivalent to mcdonalds fries. Its not the main thing but you look forward to it and kinda makes the meal great. They need to serve hot muffins. Even a simple 10 secs microwave would have been better. Muffins that are room temperature become really firm and considering the peas were luke warm couldn't makeup for that. When your food isn't served hot it denotes lack of effort ans your meal feels pitiful or sad. You spent money so you look for some enjoyment out of it. That is not the experience that would make me want return at all. They need to work on food temperatures. Hot meat and cold sides don't work. I hope for a process improvement here. The staff are great and that is half the battle but it doesn't replace good...
Read moreWent today and placed orders for us at work. I was the only person in line at the time. They were not busy at all. Got all the way back to work only to discover I had been given the wrong order. Had to turn around, drive all the way back, wait for my correct order to be prepared again, then go all the way back to work. I was 30 minutes late returning to work which I am not happy about either. Not one person apologized, offered me a free drink or dessert for my trouble,. In fact, the three girls behind the counter did not speak one single word to me. No sorry, no thank you, no nothing. My coworkers and I will not be returning to Abbay's in the future. Mistakes happen but rudeness and not even acknowledging your customers is the final straw. And they think they deserve $15 per hour, what a joke.
7/22/2021 Gave them one more try and once again did not get what I ordered. This place is horrible.
3/8/2022 Gave them another try and again did not get the order correct and the lima beans were rock hard because they were not cooked properly. Beef tips and rice had no flavor and were tough. I threw the entire meal in garbage, money down the drain. We are done. Our company has given them 3 chances, months apart, and it just gets worse not better. This place...
Read moreMy husband and I enjoyed eating there tonight. The whole restaurant was clean. The atmosphere was calm. The staff were polite and kind. I'm pregnant and have gestational diabetes. Finding a restaurant that makes creating a diabetic meal easy is a dream come true. I had the hamburger steak with gravy and doubled up on the meat for extra protein for my unborn baby. As a starch I had the rice and broccoli casserole while my two veggies were the green beans and the cabbage. I gave my cornbread to my husband. I drank water with my meal, I liked how I could add lemon wedges to my water. Everything was seasoned to perfection, really lovely southern food! My husband got the pork chop and doubled up on those as well. He also got mac & cheese, fried potatoes, and sweet potato casserole. He enjoyed everything but found the sweet potato casserole more stout and less sweet. I have to check my blood sugar two hours after every meal and my sugar was only 100 two hours after my last bite of food, it needs to be under 120 and this meal helped me achieve a full belly without spiking my sugar. My husband and I left with full bellies that didn't feel like we ate a bunch of grease. The food is just amazing here! We will...
