AVOID THIS DAYS INN AT ALL COSTS THANKS TO THE COCKROACHES IN THE ROOMS, AND AVOID WYNDHAM AND PRICELINE UNTIL THEY LEARN HOW TO PROVIDE ANY CUSTOMER SERVICE!
In 37 years, I have never had an experience like this. My wife and I chose to celebrate our wedding anniversary with her first trip to Gettysburg, a place I have been visiting for over a decade.
Our first night at this hotel, we discovered a random dirty coin in our sheets. We wrote this off as just an oddity. Two nights later, on what should've been our last night at the hotel, things escalated. We returned from a day of sightseeing and celebrating our anniversary (this was on the actual DAY of our anniversary) to find a cockroach crawling over our belongings.
As you may imagine, this disgusted and disturbed us both. We immediately notified the front desk, which unhelpfully offered us nothing but to move to a different room. If you know anything about roaches, if you see one there are more and they will not just be in one room.
We decided to drive the nearly four hours home immediately through rain, fog, and darkness despite being exhausted because we could not imagine staying there. At checkout, we were given no help or information and told to contact Priceline, who we booked through for any potential refund.
Since then, Priceline and Wyndham have provided us no resolution. They offered to refund us for the night we weren't using, but nothing further despite failing to meet the most basic expectations of a hotel stay. They have promised multiple callbacks, but have not followed through at all at any point. Instead of being helpful, they've been antagonistic and Days Inn actually charged an additional amount while we were driving home without notifying us or providing a bill.
I would not stay here. The rooms are dated and worn to begin with, and the amenities are anemic. The location is also shabby for being only a mile or so outside of Gettysburg proper.
Given the lack of customer service, I would recommend not booking through Priceline or booking at ANY Wyndham property. We have not had any any issues with other hoteliers or booking services in the past. Obviously, Wyndham cares about taking your money but not providing you a healthy or safe stay. Priceline doesn't care about anything but your money, hiding behind a complex dance with the hotel property for...
Read moreI had booked for 2 nights, but because of an issue at home I had to leave after one night. From the outside the Hotel looks nice and welcoming. Upon arrival, I fount the lobby to be very dated and due for an update. Definitely felt like something out of the 80s. The room wasn't much better. It looked like they had spent their entire remodeling budget on the massive in room spa tub. The bed was hard. Like I would have been more comfortable on the floor. I know there are people who like a firm bed, but this literally felt like I was sleeping on padded concrete. The TV channels kept going in and out. If you need a drink or a snack in the late evening or overnight, bring some ones or coins because they only have vending machines. Sheetz is about a 5 minute drive down the road if you get desperate. The girl that was at the front desk the afternoon I checked in just seemed indifferent. The service wasn't bad, but it wasn't really good either. Her attitude was just kind of "meh". She couldn't really answer my questions. On the other hand, the morning staff was very pleasant and cheerful. She talked me through the whole process of leaving a day early. The breakfast was good in my opinion. Several options, cold and hot and was well stocked. Overall it wasn't a terrible experience, but I probably wouldn't stay there again. I had to drive 3 hours on almost no sleep because the bed was so uncomfortable, everything else I could have been happy with, but the bed was the deal...
Read moreYou could not ask for a better location - right along the main thoroughfare, Perkins restaurant is to your left if you walk out the door, slight right directly across from you is Dairy Queen! There are many stores nearby such as pharmacies, Walmart, Lowe's & Home Depot should you forget something on your trip or if you need things for your campsite. My room was spacious & there was the possibility of an adjoining room so if you have a large family or group that would have been perfect. My room had a mini fridge, microwave, alarm clock which you don't find in a lot of places anymore as well as many brochures & pamphlets in the lobby for things to see and do in the Gettysburg area. My room was number 415 directly across from the elevator which made it so convenient. The staff was very friendly, I booked online with ease & check in is approximately 3:00 p.m. - check out is 11:00 a.m. I know there are several hotels in the area, but Days Inn was perfect for me - reasonably priced within a 5-minute drive of stores & pharmacies and approximately 15 to 20 minute drive to the Gettysburg national Park depending on traffic. I stayed in the same hotel in Erie, I have no complaints about this hotel chain - that's why on my trips I always look for a Days Inn at Wyndham in the location I will be spending my vacation at! You will not be disappointed in the options that they offer...
