My Mother has been at Gettysburg Center Genesis for two years and my siblings and I are very happy with the quality of care she receives there. The human touch the staff offers is priceless. The nurses and aides are knowledgeable, attentive, loving, patient and treat our Mom as if she was part of their own family. During COVID times the administration was swift to respond to the COVID pandemic with a specific plan of policies and processes that were focused on keeping the virus from striking staff and residents alike. They maintained the family-centered focus by offering window visits, safe distancing visits, care package drop off services, and most recent, vaccines for staff and residents. To curtail isolation and the onset of depression the activities staff worked tirelessly to safely offer games, activities and FaceTime video calls, refreshed room decorations during holidays and birthdays when family was not permitted inside the facility. They've had COVID related zoom calls weekly with families to keep us informed, answer our questions, explain updates in their strategy, protocols and plans. All of the staff including rehab, dining, laundry and maintenance services, to name a few, treat my Mom like she’s the only resident under the roof. She feels safe, cared for and repeatedly says she knows she’s in a great place. My brother and sisters and I have great peace of mind knowing she’s in competent, compassionate...
Read moreMy sisters and I are so fortunate and glad that our mother is in the care of the kind and caring professionals at this facility for over two years now. Before COVID and when we could visit regularly, we saw first hand that our mother was getting the staff attention, medication, care, and community interaction with other residents to keep her occupied and happy and moving. We saw a tireless staff willing to go out of their way to tend to her needs. Not all staff members offer the same level of enthusiasm and that's understandable, they have bad days too. Since COVID, we have been shutout because of restrictions we understand. Our mother's health and safety are our priority and it seems so with the staff efforts as well. the staff has done a marvelous job keeping the residents safe and limiting the potential for exposure to COVID. They have conducted weekly check-in calls to keep us in touch with the status of the virus at the facility and to answer questions we've had. On a vast most days, the news has been good. This past Sunday, our mother received her second COVID vaccination, which makes us feel a bit relieved, to say the least. To summarize, we are so glad our mother is at this facility. We have the utmost confidence in the staff and congratulate them on difficult...
Read moreSeverely understaffed. Use temps from an outside agency because they can't keep good people. No management on weekends and it's complete chaos. My gram was there and I would always find her dirty and left to wander around because no one cared. The weekends are shameful. If you have a family member there, don't leave them there on the weekends alone! It's dangerous! Management avoids you. They're always in a meeting. In the end it's the patients that are left to suffer and live out their days without the care and dignity they deserve. Therapy is good if you get the right therapist but if you don't your insurance money is going to waste. The place is cleaned by an outside company and the rooms and bathrooms arent cleaned regularly and garbage is always overflowing. The aides are overworked and stretched too thin to provide the care and attention a patient needs. They ignore when people ring the bell for help because they can't do it all . 10 patients or more for 1 person is too much and not fair to the patient. My gram would wait 20 to 30 minutes for someone to come help her if they ever came. They would leave her sitting on the toilet and never come back. I regret having chosen this place for my gram. Definitely not worth the $10,000 a...
