Dairy Queen (Treat) — Restaurant in Straban Township

This Dairy Queen used to be unique and stick out from all the rest I have been to. It was locally owned and operated, or at least that was my impression, by the same man (John) who was there for decades. They had several signs on the walls for various blizzard flavors, and tons of other blizzard flavors available that didn't exist at any other location.

However, I took my family there 2 weeks ago and was so disappointed. First thing is, the prices are crazy now for the size of the serving you get. $4+ for a tiny blizzard. Hardly any flavors to choose from, at least compared to before. It feels more clean cut and corporate when you walk in. The menus are different and it doesn't feel local anymore. What happened?

I don't know if I'll go back to this location. It's sad because I've been going there off and on since I was a little kid. Now it feels like the owner retired and it was taken over and made corporate. Maybe they were forced to do it by the Dairy Queen overlords, but it's not as fun anymore.

My advice is at least lower the prices or make the cup sizes bigger. It's not worth it...

We ordered an ice cream cake for my son's graduation party. The cake had the wrong design from what we ordered and the ink was smeared on it. We had someone else pick it up, so we weren't able to see it until the party to be able to tell them it was wrong. We wanted the same cake design we had the year before for my daughters graduation party. We even showed the girl a picture of the cake design we wanted when we ordered it (a design that is still on their website) We told her we wanted it the same, except with our son's name. Same colors, everything else the same. We were pretty surprised when we got a totally different design. The one we had the year before was beautiful, my daughter's name was nice and big, and the cake very colorful, this was just black and white and you could barley see my son's name on this cake. I have always loved this Dairy Queen and we visit it frequently, but after tonight not sure when I’ll go back. My strawberry cheesecake blizzard that we asked for extra cheesecake bites in had about 6 cheesecake bites in the whole medium blizzard and it just didn’t taste right. Also, I understand there are a ton of new people training (apparently it took them 3 or 4 tries to make our order), but the consistency of the product you’re putting out lately is not the same as before. It’s like you never know what to expect when going, and a lot of the faces I used to see when I went in are no longer there. Things are totally different now that John...
