The Heritage of Lake George — Hotel in Town of Lake George

My husband and I were in town for a wedding and found Heritage of Lake George online and proceeded with booking our reservation for 3 nights. However, the first night (Thursday) wasn't available as they wouldn't be open for the season until Friday night. After calling, they offered to open a day early so that we could reserve our stay at the same place for all 3 nights.

We stayed in one of the cute one room cottages. The room was very clean and well taken care of. We were very pleased with our stay, especially given the value with such a great place at such an affordable price. We had a coffee pot, fridge and microwave. One of my biggest pet peeves with lodging is issues with the shower - either the water sprays out in a weak trickle, doesn't get hot, or the drain is slow which causes one to shower while standing in a huge puddle which is gross. Our room had none of these shower issues - the shower in our room was hot, strong, and well drained!

We ended up not staying for the third night due to a change in plans and having to stay in Vermont the last night of our trip. We checked out a day early, but we did not request a credit. We knew it was too late to cancel without incurring charges according to the policy (we had already paid in full for our stay), also considering we had been welcomed a day early before the start of the season. However, we received a phone call the following day and were offered a credit since we didn't stay that last night. They didn't have to do that but it shows that they pay attention and that they care. I think it shows outstanding service and conduct, and we highly recommend Heritage of Lake George to anyone traveling in the area. Room was much smaller than anticipated. Had a deluxe room with queen and king beds but that takes up most of the room. It comes with a breakfast table that goes right against your dresser and only 1 person can sit on with the desk chair that does not fit in front of the bed. There is no room to walk as it is and the breakfast table makes it even narrower.

No closets so no place to put luggage. Had to put luggage next to bathroom so this eliminated our walking space that we had next to the bathroom. Windows both had holes in the screens which would allow bugs the size of my thumb to fly in.

The bathroom, while redone, is in the ground floor. If you push up your blind, someone walking on the sidewalk behind the hotel can literally peek in and see your belly button. Wish hotel had fences around it to prevent this.

The shower, while it has great water pressure, also lets you know that you have a situation because the water does not go down. Housekeeping came with Drano which was nice but only helped about 50 percent.

Things like this wrong with the room make you want to leave unfortunately which we did after one night. The staff was very polite and helpful. Grounds were clean. Parking is pretty tight and not sure how they monitor one car per room. Breakfast we did not see so cannot judge. It is served in the lobby to the hotel and you either sit outside or take it back to your room. The air condition was strong and the room was clean. I am being fair in my review and saying the good and bad. We did not use the pool.

The staff was very friendly and the place was very spacious loved the fire pit and the seating outside great for the family to enjoy however I wish they had done a better job at cleaning upon arrival I noticed my bed was just made not changed and there was a piece to the vacuum hose left on the floor in my room along with someone else’s toothbrush on the bathroom floor personally although I got there before check in I would not have minded waiting the extra time to guarantee a clean room aside from my room the other rooms that were made for my family members seemed very clean so maybe it was just a mishap these things do happen but I decided not to have my room cleaned for the rest of my stay in hopes they would definitely change everything out for the next guest this place was very nice but maybe have a manager check up on the cleanliness of each room before the...
