Never again. If i could give negative stars i would. We didnt even stay. To start, we ordered chocolate milk for our 3 year old and apple juice for our 1 year old. They came out in paper coffee cups with lids. We ask for straws. Waitress said they dont have straws. So my MIL got straws from her car. We place our food orders and we get to my 1 year old who has food allergies. We ask how the food is prepared to which the waitress replied "she can only have fruit". Didn't ask about anything, didnt try to see if there was anything the kitchen could do. So we tried to ask about the grills and how they cook and this waitress just couldnt be bothered, she didnt care about anything we were saying. It was an argument to ask them if they could fry a sausage patty in a pan of olive oil. She suggested a burger patty on the grill. Whatever. My husband then picks up the chocolate milk cup which is now soggy because its not made for cold liquids, and its barely half full. Again, we ask the waitress about this and she at forst played it off amd said "oh, are you sure she didnt drink it already because I know I filled that cup". We took the lid off and you can clearly see where the line on the inside was from the top of the drink and after about a minute she says she only fills them halfway.. what? Why? So did you fill it or only half way? Which lie is it?? The wait for the food was almost an hour, even though during the argument about the food allergy, we were told everything is precooked. She brings out the food and my baby just starts pointing to the table waiting for food and I had to get up and walk out. I was not about to eat infront of my baby who could not be accommodated anything to eat. The burger patty comes out like a hockey puck. Disgusting. We got up and left. That waitress was the absolute worst and im sure she was the one another party had walked out complaing about as well. I highly do not recommend this place, especially...
Read moreHonestly my family and I were so excited to try here after a friend of ours who frequents Lake George recommended it, only to be met with disappointment. Not sure what’s up the older lady hostess, but she was beyond rude. We said we had 5 adults and 2 kids, (specified because we didn’t know if they had kid menus or not) and she started off saying something snarky like “ok so you need two tables” like ok girl idk how you seat here so if we need two that’s fine. Asked for my name and told us to wait outside. Ok cool. Came out and said follow me and literally rushed back into the restaurant we weren’t even following her yet. Ok no biggie really! Maybe she’s just busy and quick with it! Get to our table where she seated us and she counted 1-5 at a round table and then 6-7 at a table behind us. We realized we could all fit at the round table so we all sat down and didn’t utilize the other table. Idk why that was a problem for her, but every time she walked near our table she made a snarky comment. Most of us work in the service industry so we’re more than understanding of getting busy or overwhelmed w rushes, but this was unreal. At the end we wanted to confront her behavior and she hid like a coward outside. Girl don’t be nasty to people if you don’t want to be told about it. You are literally in the CUSTOMER SERVICE/ HOSPITALITY industry! If you hate your job, quit! Life’s too short to stick around somewhere and be miserable. And if you’re having a bad day, that’s ok too! But as an adult don’t take that out on other people.
Anyways the server was attentive and sweet, asked who wanted coffee right away. Came back plenty of times for coffee refills even with all the other tables she was waiting on. She was even talking to our lil baby with us. Food was decent for the price and inside has a nice country charm. Definitely give the place a try if you want, we hope you’re met with more kindness...
Read moreSkip the powdered eggs at the boring same-old buffets and choose the Tamarack Inn for breakfast!!
From the first step, you feel like you're back in old Lake George, in a log cabin, photos and decor emphasizing old life in the Adirondack Mountains. The food is delicious and the specials are excellent (hello, candied bacon!!!). The owner goes weekly up to a local farm to collect all their ingredients, so when they say farm fresh, they actually mean FARM FRESH. Its not a massive menu; this is eggs, omelettes, pancakes, malt waffles (so good!!), French toast and a few other specialty items. Short and sweet, simple and yummy. The prices are comparable to other breakfast spots, but the food quality is FAR superior.
When you want to sit and enjoy a relaxing a cup of coffee in a quiet rustic atmosphere, this is the spot. So if you're looking for the best cup of coffee around, choose the Tamarack Inn... and I'm talking - "Man, this is a GREAT cup of coffee" and "I cant wait to go back and get that coffee!" and "I have to write a glowing review to stress how good this coffee is" - kinda coffee.
The restaurant is not huge, so space is limited and depending on the time you get here and the day of the week, you can wait anywhere from 5 to 30mins for a table, but trust it's worth it. The parking lot is small, so my recommendation is to make the walk if you're staying in the local lodgings. Waitstaff is friendly and accommodating (we love Emily!❤️). I've never had a bad experience with staff.
I've been coming to LG annually for 40 years. I've seen so many restaurants come and go, sometimes after just only one season... but the Tamarack still stands. Like the spirit of old Lake George, it endures the test of time, echoing the sentiment of the...
