(Realistically a 4.5) LOVED, LOVED, LOVED THIS PLACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Lake Motel (Google also calls it The Lake Inn) is a GORGEOUS place to stay while in Lake George, that's located within walking distance of the Village and filled with both knowledgeable and friendly staff. Their rates are incredible because they also include a heated pool, canoes, paddle boats, grills, fire pits at night, and they also had a nightly free event which is nice for adults but great for kids. Our 1st night they had root beer floats, 2nd night they did smores, 3rd night was an ice cream truck and boats came out to the lake and set off a beautiful firework display! The rooms were very clean and came with a queen bed, full bed, nice lounging chair, good size fridge with a freezer, air conditioner, coffee pot, microwave, desk and a 32" TV. The wifi was fantastic with download speeds ranging from 30 - 75 mbps and upload speeds ranging from 15 - 40 mbps. The bathroom was modern and very clean and even came with a drying lamp in the ceiling. The hand soap, body wash and shampoo were of very good quality. There are 2 floors of rooms that open off of an outside balcony. At the lake side of each floor is a viewing area with a round table and wicker chairs. Outside of each room is 2 chairs and a small table. Our room was about 20 feet from the viewing area and less then 100 feet from the lake! It was incredible to wake up, walk right out the door and have coffee watching the boats, and people para-sailing. The pool area was exceptionally clean with a large heated pool and ample places to both sit and sun bathe or at night sit by the multiple fire pits. Off the edge of this area where stairs that brought you to the dock where you could swim in a buoyed off section of the lake, grill, sign up to use the canoes or paddle boats, or climb up to a small intimate deck with a seating area and private fire pit. NOW TO THE CONS: (IMPORTANT NOTE: 2 and 3 are minimal issues) 1. Parking is pretty abysmal especially for people who can't parallel park. The hotel is parallel to another hotel so you park against the back side of the other hotel or in very few spots under a couple of the first rooms. Either way, it's a very tight fit and sadly there's nothing the owners can do about it. 2. The plumbing is slightly lacking with air bubbles coming up the toilets when someone in a nearby room flushes the toilet. The shower also from time to time would get colder for a few seconds. 3. A very small gripe from my wife but there wasn't any conditioner offered in the rooms. In conclusion, this is a simply wonderful place to stay filled with incredible people. The husband and wife owners are so down to Earth and their special needs daughter stole our hearts! P.s. Courtney at the front desk, YOU'RE THE BEST! - Your Buddy Guy

Book directly through the hotel for good price. Great location can walk easily to town n park for nightly concerts. Right on the water. Great pool area, free kayaks n paddleboards. Rooms are great, comfy beds n updated bathroom. Bring your own soap n tissues though. Nice refrigerator in room. Balcony on 2nd floor nice place to have early coffee n look out at view ( see photo). Rooftop fire pits are fun place to see the stars at night especially with spectacular meteor showers in the summer n listen to the talking ducks that congrgate on the dock at night. Barbeque area with tables to eat nearby. Park in garage n leave your car there for stay. Friendly staff. Housekeeping leaves towels if you ask n can have daily housekeeping sometimes but rooms are clean. Air conditioning works great. Loved our stay. Kids swam in pool most of day n the lake and used kayaks to go to sand bar n listen to the Minne-ha-ha steamboat play its music as it passed daily. Enjoyable place. Nightly have fun activities- sundaes, candle making, smores. People told me they come back every year. I guess I'll be one of them.

Staying at the Lake Motel was a throwback to staying at the roadside motels I would stay in with my parents when I was a kid. From the smells to the sounds to the decor in the rooms it felt a little like a timewarp back to the early '80s. First, this isn't a bad thing. The hotel grounds and rooms were very, very clean. The pool area was great fun for the kids and its RIGHT on the lake. It's the kind of place that encourages you to meet new people and to chat with folks by the pool or on the dock over looking the lake - by the way, that's a great feature of their dock, it's two stories tall and provides a great view of the lake as well as of the ducks and fish in the water - instead of isolating you from others with less common areas or events. One of the things we loved about the Lake Hotel were the nightly events that they planned for the families and kids staying there. Whether it was s'mores night or make your own sundae or candle making, we were there and the kids loved it. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Lake Motel and hope to stay there again next summer.

I'll say right away I have had to redo this review because of the blantant lies of the owners of this property. In the 35+ years of travelleing and 20+ in reviewing places I've NEVER left a review this bad nor felt the need/want to do so but these folks take the cake in being horrible at customer service and lying on line about their website content and customer experiences. ||||Their website said it was a room with 2 queen beds, upper level, other ammenities and a hot tub. So there's no hot tub in the room, there's more recently renovated bathrooms with a standup showers, no hot tub. The woman asked where I booked this as I had the picture of the website (their website, their rooms) and I told her it was their website that said hot tub. She just said no, there's no hot tubs. I waited a week to post this and their website still clearly shows "hot tubs" listed in a place that has none!||||There was an ongoing issue during my stay that sorry to say let me know I'd never stay here again. These folks apparently just don't care about the customer. I had a room where immediately had a faint smell of marijuana which the motel sends a message that smoking pot anywhere, though legal in NY, is NOT allowed on their premises and will be subject to a $100 fine. The woman at the front desk came to the room and did notice the smell and verbally let me know I wouldn't be charged, even though the smell was also in my room. The room had an adjoining door for two rooms to be used by a family which is locked when it's used as separate rooms. This is where the smell was coming from. So I wrote the motel the next day (of 3 days I'd be there) saying it smelled of pot again, this time much stronger, and that I was hoping in writing this would be noted and something could be done about it. I was told via e-mail I wouldn't be charged (great!) and I could move to another vacant room if I wanted (wait, what??). So they have a policy they clearly do NOT enforce and will ask a customer who had done absolutely nothing wrong, not the violators, to move to another room. Wow, this was just piss-poor customer service. I would need to be inconvenienced by packing all my things back up from the dresser, bathroom things, and the refridgerator and go to another room but they wouldn't ask the people to stop smoking pot in their room/on the premises or ask them to move. That's just beyond anything I've ever heard and awful customer experience!! Never again. ||||On this page previously the owners lied about my review. Firstly that they didn't have "hot tubs" listed on their website. Photo attached was at the time I booked, clearly says hot tub in the room which they have now corrected and is no longer on their page. But they tried to say I must have booked with a third party site, I booked on THEIR page and have the reservation from them. Second lie is that they ever will enforce a rule they have about smoking pot on the premesis. A faint smell in my room from the ajoining room which the woman at the front desk immediately smelled as well on the first day. The next day it was way worse, very strong and the owners asked me, the customer who did NOTHING wrong, to move to another room, not the offenders! They have noted on their response "no further action taken" so they have a rule and they do not enforce it whatsoever! They note it wasn't a strong smell which they wouldn't know as they weren't on site, they didn't ask to come to my room to smell how bad it was, were never IN my room the entire stay so they have no idea, just lying to make themselves look like they did something about the situation. They believe the person who said maybe the smell was from their clothing because they smoked in their car. Yup, I supposed that would smell so strong it'd fill their room and my room next door. LOL!! That's pure fantasy. AVOID this place, they do NOT care...

The owners at this motel, take beautiful pride on their property very very awesome amazing friendly people here in staff they go far above and beyond the kindness to everyone of their guests to even the fact I had a little situation with a family member when I was staying here, the owner stepped in to even help me I gotta say all my years I’ve always wanted to stay up at Lake George for three or four days without going right home and this was the experience of a lifetime. I really enjoyed myself with the kayaks. They do different activities at night and they just make you feel right at home. The rooms are spotless squeaky clean. You could eat off the floors when you walk in the room, you smell bleach how clean it is. I will definitely be visiting this property again for a vacation and I almost had to cut my trip short due to my son‘s injury, but it worked out that I was able to stay and I’m so happy because it’s a vacation close to home for me only an hour and a half to Schenectady but it was like a different world how much fun I had you’re always busy and what’s best about this property. You don’t even have to leave the property to have fun. You’re right on the beach when you step out the door they have their own private dock they have kayaks that are included in the price and the paddle boards they even sell sweaters and T-shirts in the gift shops half the price that you’ll pay downtown and every single staff member that I came in contact with including the owner they just go far above and beyond to be kind to their guest. I would tell any family or any person who has kids. This is the property to visit they do s’mores over the fire. Couple nights a week I gotta say to the owner. He’s got a heck of a place here how beautiful it is. Thank you for the amazing beautiful vacation to the Lake Motel hotel and staff You definitely gained a new Customer in me this will be my spot. Me and my girlfriend had an amazing time and my girlfriend had to come back early because she had to work Plus a medical emergency of our son But she was sad to leave how much fun we had. I think the owner’s name is Steve And he’s the nicest guy I talk to him several times when I was staying here the main focus of the hotel staff is they want their guests to feel welcome and have the time of their life and be happy down their time. That’s what I love about this hotel, very family orientated they go so far above and beyond. I could go on and on and on with the good things and I told them when I left I would be the first one to give a five star so anybody that’s going on vacation definitely go to The Lake Motel. You won’t regret it. The staff is amazing. It was the best vacation I’ve had in quite a few years so again I want to thank the staff there and the owner. It was an amazing time And especially the owner, even helping me with a little situation I had with a family relative of mine. That was the only little setback and it was due to my family, but the staff all around her amazing people the most beautiful Property set right on the beach of lake George. I actually checked out in the middle of the night last night due to the heat today to beat the heat and I was sad to leave, but I’m already thinking I’m trying to plan my next trip. Thank you so much Lake Motel staff you all rock. And also, if I didn’t mention for Guest reading the reviews, they even have cookers on site for cooking so you don’t even need to leave to eat out they have fire pits. They have everything try it out and you won’t regret it nobody. I’m also going to share a few photos I took...

My family of 5 stayed at the Lake Motel in Lake George, NY for the first time on June 12-15, and it won’t be the last!

First of all, you can’t beat the location. Lake Motel is right on the lake, with unobstructed views of the majestic waters of Lake George. The owner, Steve, has taken full advantage of this by building a deck fully equipped with 3 grills plus a Blackstone flat top grill, ample seating areas by way of picnic tables and fire pits surrounded with comfortable Adirondack chairs. My family grilled burgers on our last night, and made s’mores over the fire pits the night before.

There is also a 2-storey dock with even more intimate seating areas where one can enjoy coffee, a cold cocktail, or simply read a book or stare out into the tranquil, clean waters of Lake George. My girls enjoyed looking at the lake from this vantage point.

Kayaks, paddle boards and a raft are available to guests, free of charge! We are by no means water sports athletes or experts but believe me when I say we all went on the kayaks and didn’t come back until 2 hours after! The lake and mountains compelled us to stay there as long as we could, and we had never felt more connected to nature as we did then.

The motel is right in the village as well, so throughout the duration of our stay, we did not find a reason to drive the car out of its parking spot. Everyday, we walked to the village, explored it, and made our choice of where to eat, which was plentiful, by the way!

The heated outdoor pool was a clear winner with all my 3 kids. I feel like I have to say that the pool REALLY was heated to 83F, because so many hotels claim their pools are heated, but you realize it’s a white lie once you take a dip in the pool. Lake Motel clearly believes in truth in advertising because my kids stayed in that pool for hours in sub-75F weather.

I would be doing the owners and staff an injustice if I didn’t mention in this review that the place was immaculately CLEAN. I am not a high maintenance person and do not need to stay in high end, expensive hotels, BUT I am a neat freak and will NOT stay in a hotel that has less than stellar reviews on cleanliness. It’s actually cleanliness and location that are my top considerations on where to stay, and Lake Motel gets excellent ratings on both.

Last but not the least, the owners and staff, particularly Steve and Jorgina, are the humblest, most unassuming, helpful, accommodating, friendly, hardworking people I have ever met. There is a lot of pride and dignity in their work, and their hospitality is one that I will never forget.

We had the most fun, happy, relaxing time that we have decided as a family to make this an annual tradition, coming back every year in June.

Steve, Jorgina and everyone in the Lake Motel family — thank you for everything. It was the best family vacation we have had in many years. See...
