PS- the smell scent can be bought, we have it to make our haunted house musty smelling too.
PS- the randoms people mention such as the man writing a book- that is a famous horror author named Edgar Allen Poe. Someone said why is a random man chasing a girl with a knife? Well, that is JACK the Ripper, a real life London serial killer. Every window has an exert hinting or telling exactly what the exhibit is about. Clues for the old horror may be written too. If you don’t know, google it. Also again, this is old school for the most part, even Micheal Myers’s is 1978, Jason 1980, Chucky 1980’s all older horror. The classics all have a place there. The business name Frankenstein is a hint to classic. Just because you don’t get it doesn’t mean it sucks. Before reviewing something educate, be sure you didn’t misunderstand or have a lack of insight.
I’m happy to see mostly positive reviews on this nostalgic, old horror based wax museum. This place is just great! The reviews stating how old, outdated, “wax looking,”, smelly, cheesy, non scary, etc.. Well it is old, it is a WAX figure museum and smell of must goes with the territory, and they add the smell too. The Frankenstein title should be an inkling of the old school horror attraction. Even as a kid I was scared and still am in the darker halls. It’s dark, creepy and just great for a walk though as it supposed to be, it’s not a jump scare, modern type attraction. Some people understand this, some don’t. As for the flashing lights, yes, there is a sign. As for props not working, they all do, there is a 45 second delay and says that. The staff stand there as they are told to, maybe there has been issues so they decided that is best. As For the darkness, yes it’s dark, it’s a horror attraction. Why take the time to bash someone’s small business as you found it to be corny, outdated, non scary..mentioning props don’t work yet didn’t follow simple instruction. A review is based of fact and opinion, I read many unreasonable gripes. Remember now, this has been in Lake George since the 70’s, the props are based around OLD HORROR mostly. This is a wax museum not a jump out horror stop. The people saying some props are too scary such as the electric chair scene..well, it’s up to you to make the judgment for your child. Yes, some are gory, realistic, some are factual events. Someone said their 10 year old wasn’t scared (slow clap), ok..he can go to many other places. He doesn’t get it, that’s ok. Anyway, since I was a kid I have loved this place and made sure my son got to see it, he now drags me back as much as he can. In fact he makes a wax museum ( he calls it that) in our basement each Halloween, basing the off of house of Frankenstein! Overall, people should be able to at least appreciate the work put into this place and know it is a Lake George staple. Please always stay open! So...
Read moreFew places hold such tranquil beauty as the crowning jewel of Lake George. The House of Frankenstein is something you can only hope to behold in a lifetime. I first had the pleasure of entering their doors when I was 8yrs old. (A Horror & Macabre obsessed child I was) I was instantly mesmerized by the cobblestone walls, Victorian esque carpet and the alluring sounds emitting from every corner of the wall. Seeing the glass displays of professionally painted/ assembled models depicting characters I was already well acquainted with, was like a kid in Disney world seeing his favorite mouse, elephant and duck all lined up to greet him. I felt like I already knew this place before even asking for a ticket. It was almost hard to believe that a place so perfect for 8yr old me could exist, but it did. The beautiful crafted exhibits truly are a Time Machine of great proportions. I will always adore the torture chamber for its unapologetic gruesomeness and clever mechanics I’m 24 now and have now toured the house of Frankenstein many, many times again and again and not for a single moment, do the sights and sound grow old. I’m embarrassed to admit that the house of Frankenstein wax museum was a real obsession for me since I was a kid, I was always beyond curious about who brought this place to life and how it came to be? My best way to put it is this; Disneyland is for the Mickey Mouse crowd , House of Frankenstein is for the monster kids, which thanks to places like this, is still very much a continuing generation. If the owners read this and aren’t a bit frightened by my somewhat overwhelming opinion ( hahaha) then I’d just like to say thank you for making a kid who loved the dark side of cinema and literatures ...
Read moreWhat an incredibly awful experience. Was there earlier today. From the minute we walked in the rude staff was all over us They were yelling we can't bring strollers in, to trying to get a family to separate from each other. We were a group of 14 with 2 infants. When we were getting tickets the sign says adult, student and child. The lady determined our child was a student. We asked what the difference was was she snapped that she said he was a student. We had 2 infants, a toddler and 6,7 and 9 respectively. We purchased tickets and proceeded to go inside. We were met by an over aggressive security guard type yelling no drinks inside. He wanted us to leave a bottle of water for infant formula outside. We put it in the diaper bag and he said dont think he didn't see that. At that point point we asked what the problem was. Do you want us to come in or can we have a refund. They opted to go with the"tough guy" security guard saying we aren't coming in. When the ticket lady refunded the money, the security guy was trying to force a mother holding a 2 month old out the door, saying I said you have to go now.
We have been to this place before. It is not amazing and as expected over priced. But we were going to support businesses opening after the pandemic. We get the rules, because we worked through the pandemic. The mother holding her 2 month old is an icu nurse that chose to continue working through the pandemic.
I will never support this business. Our large extended family of first responders and veterans will never set foot in this...
