I’ve been a customer of Neiman Marcus for years, especially shopping in the kids’ section. But what happened recently was beyond disappointing. While shopping with my 5-year-old daughter, she briefly touched the fabric of a dress on a mannequin on the third floor. Out of nowhere, an older female employee suddenly screamed at her: “No, no, you never touch that!” My daughter was absolutely terrified and left the store in tears. I was standing right there, watching her the entire time. She did nothing wrong she simply and gently touched the fabric. Yet the employee not only made false claims, but also showed no remorse or offered any apology for how she treated a young child. This experience left both of us shaken. The lack of professionalism, empathy, and accountability was truly shocking. I’ve never felt so disrespected and unwelcome in any store before. I expected far better from Neiman Marcus a store that claims to value its customers but clearly, I was wrong. Never again!
UPDATE
After my initial review I received a call from Patrick, who I believe is one of the managers at this location. While he was polite and offered an apology on behalf of the store, I’m still deeply disappointed with how this situation has been handled.
Patrick mentioned that the employee’s behavior might have been due to “improper training,” which I found unsettling. When I asked why the employee hadn’t apologized or if she would be willing to his response was we cant do that!!! That shocked me. It made it clear there was no real accountability taking place.
During the call, Patrick didn’t mention what, if any, action would be taken regarding the employee’s behavior. He never even confirmed whether he had spoken to her. He just said, “we’re investigating,” which frankly made the call feel like a generic follow-up — not a serious response to a very serious situation.
This wasn’t about poor service, a delayed order, or a simple mistake. This was a grown adult yelling at and intimidating a 5-year-old child, and the lack of urgency, transparency, and meaningful action is completely unacceptable.
Patrick also invited me to return to the store, but I respectfully declined especially after I asked, “Will the employee apologize to my daughter?” and he said no. Then why would I go there again ? That confirmed everything I feared: they’re not handling this seriously.
It’s now clear to me why that employee acted the way she did — because she knew there would be no consequences. No accountability. No serious response!!’ And clearly, NM would not take action to correct it. That explains everything.
I’m incredibly disappointed not just by the incident itself, but by how it was handled afterward. I sincerely hope no child ever has to go through what mine did in that store. Read moreNeiman marcus needs to get their online system straight. I ordered a La mer foundation through their online pick up option and it said the item would be ready by the same day. After placing the order, I got absolutely NO email. I needed the foundation that day so I drove to the store and the lady at the cosmetic section told me the online system was down. I asked her if I can just purchase the product and the return the online one that I did (cannot) pick up. She said yeah that should be no problem. Little did I know how much of a HASSLE it would be to do this. So i purchased the $125 foundation in store. I contacted the online agent through neiman website to cancel my pick up order. They were resistant and said it may already be shipped (from warehouse to store) so they might not be able to cancel? So I tell them this is due to their PROBLEM with the online pick up order. So the product ends up being cancelled. For some odd reason, the "free" samples that the product comes with did not get cancelled and they send me an email saying my pick up order for the samples is ready. I ignore it as I am not going to drive here to get samples. The samples are $0.00 so I assume this wouldn't affect me.
The $125 pending charge (from the online order) disappeared but I see a new charge of $25 (not pending, went through aka neiman took $25 from me). I am now currently chatting with the neiman online agent AGAIN. (And by the way, the agents on this site are plain stupid, has no idea what's going on) This is the 4th time I've had to contact them for a SIMPLE ONE ITEM ORDER. Jeez, how inefficient and stupid is this store- for a store that sells VERY expensive stuff, invest in some appropriate online agents. This online agent I'm talking to has no record of what I talked to the previous agent about so I am literally wasting so much time. They keep thinking they "shipped" the order to me and ask every time I chat them if I received the order. First of all, I ordered a "pick up" order so I get so annoyed when I have to explain that it is not a shipped order, it is a pick up order in which I never picked up.
