Bland food and terrible service. We had an Iftar buffet at East West Cafe at Tyson on 3/21/2025. My husband called to make a reservation on the same day. The only working number was for their other branch. A guy answered the phone and said Tysons' phone was down, and that they were handling reservations for them. He confirmed that he had written down our name and would pass it along to the Tysons branch. We arrived at East West Cafe at Tysons just a few minutes before Iftar. They told us they didn’t have our reservation and asked us to " just stand to the side while we seat the other guests." We stood there while they seated at least five groups. No one acknowledged us until we finally said, well, we are still here. Only then they give us a table, with no apology or explanation. The food, especially the meats, was very bland. My husband couldn’t eat it. The dessert was okay. My husband ordered Turkish coffee to have with the dessert, and my daughter ordered a hibiscus drink. They didn’t arrive for more than 30 minutes. My husband spoke to two waitresses, but neither returned to update us on our order. Meanwhile, the manager came to collect the check, which included the coffee and hibiscus drink. My husband informed him that we were still waiting for both. Again, the manager said nothing, and nothing happened. After another 10 minutes, my husband went to speak to the manager again and requested a refund for the coffee and hibiscus, as we were leaving. Only then did the manager go to the beverage counter in the middle of the restaurant and bring the drinks within a few minutes. It was clear that it only took a couple of minutes to pour the coffee and prepare the hibiscus drink. I wonder if this is how they treat all...
Read moreRespectfully, I know its a laid back place with servers waiting for stuff for the most part (I've been here about 15-20 times in the last 2 years), but the service really is not good and I like coming here for the food and ambience. I think owner needs to check in and fix customer service so customer's can get their bread and tea. The servers can be pretty dismissive where you ask for one thing 3 times and they look at you like "you didnt get it yet?" like am I supposed to know? Should I go to the kitchen and get it for you?? This has happened every time I go there and after two years, I'm writing a review. I also think its now a scam to that the east west breakfast is 29$ and for one person (It was not for one person before but now it is and its made the quality and place feel like a scam and a bit trashy now). I think the quality of the restaurant is going down and the price is going up, especially with so many changes in the menu and the way the list of what you get is worded.. it feels like you're getting fed stick and stones for what you pay for lol. $78 for the large breakfast is crazy considering the service is horrible if you're spending that much, and the fact that $78 of the food does not feed that many (probably 4-6 people if you got some shy people in the party lol)...so the ratio and logical aspects of prices, to customer service, to food...please higher someone who can do the calculations because it does not add up. I also think its funny that the prices before their "inflated" rates, made sense but you were given 2 eggs one day and the next time 3, and then back 2, or given 2 pieces of cheese instead of 4...Its quite ridiculous, and now you give even less and charge more. There is no...
Read moreWent there on a Sunday for breakfast. They have a great menus but didn’t have half of the items that I wanted to order. The teapots aren’t copper as advertised and here is the struggle I had with the place.
I ordered an east west breakfast which is a $20 item and my date, asking for 3 other deserts on the menu and hearing they don’t have it, ordered ice cream.
I was more focused on my convo with my friend as they brought in the orders. I was pleasantly surprised by the breakfast and left about half of it uneaten because it was a lot. When I asked for the check, they charged me a 70 dollar Turkish breakfast item instead of the the one I ordered for 20. Another Turkish guy who looked like an owner or an experienced server came in. He said they had a misunderstanding; charged and served me the 70 dollar item. The guy was meandering around with some excuses and blamed how the server didn’t know how to serve Turkish customers.. at the end, I looked at him in the eye and said “this is what I ordered and this is what you brought. I think I should pay for what I ordered but you look like a man of integrity. Bring me a bill that is fair for everyone” with a light heart and hope to see what the guy was made off.
Btw if this happened in any other American establishment, let alone correcting it to the 20 dollar item, they would give some extra care to make sure they are conducting right business.
They guy simply brought the same check and said that next time, I should ask for him as a server so as not to have any confusions. I gladly paid and removed any confusions as to whether I will ever go there again.
It’s sad when people choose short term profit instead of doing the...
