I grabbed dinner here recently when I was working late. I hope that diners never go away since they are one of the only options outside of fast food if you're trying to eat after 10 or 11, and it was certainly a lovely coincidence that my gig that night was a few minutes away from Silver Diner. Considering that you can't turn your head without looking at a chrome-covered surface, this place lives up to its name. The inside is fitted with a jukebox and 100% working Seeburg table speakers/song selectors at each both, allowing the guests to select which song is played on the jukebox. If you've never seen one of these systems before, it's worth going just for that. As far as atmosphere, the diner gets a solid 10/10 from me.

As for the food, I ordered the meatloaf and a vanilla shake for dessert. Both were quite good but unfortunately my phone died before I could snap any pictures. The meatloaf came with a choice of salad or soup, and I did manage to get a picture of the delicious chicken soup. The meatloaf came with vegetables and sat atop mashed potatoes and gravy. You wouldn't think meatloaf would be that hard to screw up, but there are a few points where it could go wrong. Fortunately, my meatloaf avoided all of these pitfalls -- it wasn't too fatty, wasn't smothered in too much sauce, and most importantly wasn't dry. The shake I ordered for desert was good overall, but I thought it could have been sweeter. It had sort of a buttery taste. Overall I'd give the food a 9/10 -- definitely better than your average diner food.

My only real gripe with this place is that I felt it was overpriced compared to other diners. Then again, you're paying a premium on the atmosphere, which Silver Diner has put a lot of thought into, and the superior food, so it's not exactly comparable to most other diners. I'd happily eat here again, but it would have to be for a more...

Had a very disappointing experience here this morning, Tuesday June 25. Ordered food for my daughter, grandmother, and myself. My grandma said her food didn't taste very good but she ate enough of it to be satisfied. My daughter hardly touched her plate, refused to eat the eggs, and eggs are her favorite breakfast food. I tasted them myself and they were absolutely terrible. I ordered the shrimp scampi which I did return upon tasting, the shrimp were not good and the pasta was very dry, with way too many noodles for the other toppings provided in the dish. I ordered cheese fries as a replacement, had them less than 5 minutes later, and they looked awful. The shredded cheese was not fully melted, there was actually hardly any cheese on them. The bacon on top was dark reddish black, and the flavor of them was terrible. I returned those as well and just paid for my child and my grandma's food. I also want to note that upon arriving it took about 10 minutes for someone to even come to our table for our drink orders. Not sure what happened, the reviews on this place seemed really good, but I will personally not be returning to this location. I sent two plates back and the manager didn't even come by the table to ask about our experience. Definitely showed me that management doesn't care about guest experience here, as I was told the manager was aware of the...

Never having eaten at one of the Silver Diner restaurants, we stopped by here for a late night dinner after being in DC for the evening. It was like an old time diner inside. Quite darling. The food was outstanding! I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich which was the perfect combination of cheeses on a toasted sour dough bread. It was just the right amount of gooey yumminess and crunch. My friend ordered a club sandwich that she too enjoyed. The accompanying coleslaw was the best I have ever had. It was all delicious! The service left a lot to be desired. Our little grouping of tables never had anyone stop by to see if we needed anything. Our tables sat with empty glasses and thirsty patrons. After waiting ten minutes, with everyone finished, a neighboring table went and asked for a check. The server appears a few minutes later and slapped our checks on the tables and said we all needed to leave as it was closing time. Incredibly rude. We were the ones waiting to close out our checks! I would give this eatery another chance because of the food in hopes our service tonight was not indicative of the establishment. Hopefully that young man went home, got a good night’s sleep and woke up...

The food was good. I like the fusion of traditional dinner items and healthy choices. They have a 600 cal menu section for lighter fare too. I had meatloaf and the side veggies it came with were good but particularly salty for my taste. I found the whole dish oddly heavy on the salt really. The staff was unusual. They were extremely outgoing and friendly both with me and particularly with each other. The waiter I had was very familiar with his coworkers as if he had known them for a long time. However he was careless and forgot to bring me my salad. When my main dish arrived I told him he forgot to bring the salad and he finally brought it to me when I was almost done with my main course. He also never really apologized. He also picked up the check and counted the tip while I was still sitting at the table right in front of him. I just got the feeling the manager wasn't around and my waiter was having too much fun with his coworkers. The atmosphere is great. Good effort to get the 50's dinner experience right.

We enjoy Silver Diner because it consistently serves the best breakfast. Its innovative and creative ideas on its dishes reflect what people want and offer healthy and tasty food options. They also offer plenty of delicious plant-based dishes and entrees under 600 calories. During our last visit, the Philly Steak Omelette with cheeses and mushrooms completely satisfied my hunger. The combination of delicious ingredients made it a savory and healthy dish. The Bay Benedict was also fantastic, with generous portions of crab cake and tomato salad with corn, spinach, and basil, served on English muffins and accompanied by fresh fruits for a nutritious and balanced breakfast. The Oat Milk Protein Pancakes were outstanding – healthy, moist, and flavorful, unlike other dry pancakes we've had. The iced cold brew mocha coffee was refreshing, robust, and perfectly complemented our breakfast choices. Overall, our dining experience at Silver Diner was excellent, and we received top-notch service from our friendly server.
