We set out on a quest to find the perfect spot for a delightful family dinner. The previous evening, we had spent a considerable amount, around $200, catering to our family of 2.5 (considering our son's modest appetite). Regrettably, we hadn't been entirely satisfied with our experience. Tonight, as we arrived at our desired dinner destination, we were informed that we would need to wait for about an hour. However, fate intervened, leading us to an unexpected treasure called Scrambled—a charming restaurant owned and operated by a father-daughter duo. Haim, the father, not only served as the chef but also took the time to engage with us and share his profound passion for cooking. Alex, his daughter, went beyond her role as a server and made a genuine connection with us.
To our surprise, we discovered that we were the only patrons in the entire restaurant that evening. Alex informed us that Scrambled had earned its fame primarily for breakfast. Nonetheless, the dinner menu turned out to be a revelation. The Mediterranean cuisine they offered surpassed any we had ever tasted. The 9th street crab dip was an extraordinary delicacy that I highly recommend trying. Additionally, the kebabs platter, especially the lamb variant, was nothing short of exceptional. We simply loved it.
Considering the exorbitant amount we had spent the previous night on dinner and drinks, we were astounded to find that the drink served at Scrambled surpassed our expectations. We were enthralled by its quality and flavor. We wholeheartedly endorse this hidden gem, which not only excels in breakfast offerings but also provides an outstanding...
Read moreWhat was a last minute trip to Virginia beach turned into a ubiquitous food experience. I recently went vegan and I normally meal prep and take my food with. Time did not allow and my first 24 hrs at Virginia Beach I was hungry. On my Morning Run I ran past Scramble. I walked in to get a to go menu. The owners Daughter was so kind and asked me what I was looking to eat. I told her of my dietary need and she assured me that the owner would be able to do whatever I needed. Well guys I left and went back to grab lunch. When I say he not only made me something that I could eat but the hummus was thee best thing I’ve ever eaten in my life. I will never have store bought hummus again. The owner is an artist. This meal tasted like pure agape love. It was so good I went back to give him his review in person and of course to I had to make another 2 more orders of hummus. Even my meat eater friends were completely impressed by the flavors of this food. While I can’t eat everything on the menu I recommend everything. I don’t want to spell the owners name wrong but trust me when I say he saved my vacation. This will be the only place I eat at when I visit Virginia Beach. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. If you are from here go…if you aren’t from here go. A place where culture, love and life makes you feel like family. Thank you so much for being the epitome of food being a love language and today Scramble spoke to not only my stomach...
Read moreVisiting from PA for vacation. Arrived a little before 11:30 excited to try this little place because I love Mediterranean and they had pancakes for the kiddos. Waitress seemed a little cold and apathetic and the place smelled badly of natural gas (!) but whatever...we were hungry and didnt feel like dragging the kids everywhere looking for food. We finally figured out what everyome wanted, kids were excited for their pancakes, waitress came to take our orders and informed us that they didn't start serving lunch until noon, followed by "I thought they would have told you that." I'm not sure who "they" was because we seated ourselves and she was the one who greeted us and brought us our menus. She went back to check with the kitchen staff since it was now a few minutes after 11:30. She came back to say they absolutely would not cook lunch until noon. We ended up walking out because I can't have certain foods and there was nothing on the lunch moment I could have, plus my husband really wanted crab dip. We ended up leaving and going to a place up the street that was happy to serve us lunch. I think my biggest complaint is it does not say anywhere on the signs, menus, etc. about lunch starting at noon. And they woild ratyer lose business than start the grill 25 minutes early. Odd....
