This Pier is nice to fish off of considering most people will catch something. The Pier is open 24/7 and you will pay 10 dollars if you want to fish on it. If you want to walk it for 2 dollars to check it out, it's not that great of a Pier. It's crowded because of fishing and is not long to walk even though it looks longer. I heard people ask why they had to pay 2 dollars to walk it when it wasn't very nice. If you can find a nice sunset, it might be worth the money to get a photo out there as it did have a pretty view for spectators. You can rent a pole for about 8 dollars and then pay a little extra for your bait of choice. You can go crabbing or fishing (you need cash only to get onto the Pier, $2 for walking or $10 for fishing or crabbing). It was a great Pier to fish off of considering there are many types of fish you can catch. The shop you buy bait from will tell you what type of bait they would recommend for the day, depending on weather. It can be crowded and hard to find a spot to fish. They have a bathroom on the Pier as well as a cleaning and filet station with running water if you want to keep what was caught. I found it fun to fish for some of the day and rent a pole since I'm from out of state. If you want to rent a fishing pole, they will ask you for your license to hold on to so you dont steal their fishing pole or can pay a $30 deposit fee. You can leave the Pier for a while with the pole you rent if you want, just don't forget to return it and get your license back. I caught 5 fish and a crab and my son caught 2 fish and a skate. Other people around seemed friendly and offered help if something such as a skate or horshue crab was caught and you are unsure of how to release them. I wanted to fish, so I did and had fun. When people left you could move around to a different...
Read moreThis was my first time fishing of this pier I normally go Newport News but my wife wanted to ho the beach while I fished... Let me tell you something!!!! This pier has people who are truly disrespectful!! If you walk to the end you will find fishermen who has no respect for space! They will come right next to you literally and cast out and leave there pole right next to you that's will end up crossing your line and they would go to another spot where they would cast and reel with fake bait and leave the pole that's right next to with a with cut bait etc.... They even was lined up elbow to elbow casting and reeling screaming out saying "casting or coming in or watch your back or coming under you (talking about their line that's has been casted and being revealed back or even saying" going over you") Then when they see a fish flash behind their lure they would scream for excitement..And the problem is, you have 10+ people all screaming at the same or right after each other... You will be very uncomfortable in this environment if you are a fishing men who like to fish in peace with a little chatter here and there but not yelling and trying to fish in your space . I WAS JUST PISSED AND NOT USE TO THIS KIND OF IMMATURE FISHING.... NEVER AGAIN!! IF you decide to go fishing there make you don't go all the way to end if the where the disrespectful fisherman are and just pick a side with space if possible and try to enjoy. But get prepared for the loud environment! BUT fish do bite there but you will get tangled up...
