Currently staying here at the Red Roof Inn Plus - Virginia Beach location due to a Softball Tournament. We were thinking oh great, right on the beach, great location, this is going to be good. We get here, check in, 1st there is no "front lobby" some little area next to, what they call a parking lot, the original room that I had request (a room higher up) was not ready yet ( it was after 4pm when we got there) ok so whatever, no big deal right? We will take a room on a lower floor fine. The girl at the front desk was very nice and friendly. Check us in ( get ready you pay for the entire stay up front, I normally pay at checkout) we get to the room and it's NASTY. The sofa looked like it was covered in bodily fluids, dirty floor, not the cleanest bathroom . I go back down tell the girl about the room, she apologizes changes rooms. Ok fine. We get a new room. This was just as bad if not worse. The sofa completely covered in glitter, open the sofa bed to find chicken tender and french fry crumbs, the stick to an eaten lollipop, dorito crumbs, and who knows what other food particles where there on the mattress and under the mattress, bathroom also not the cleanest and floor dirty. Back down I go.. this time I just asked her to give me a vacuum. I will clean it myself. Head across the street picked up a bottle of bleach and some sponges.. wiped everything down, hotel employee comes in I show him the sofa, his eyes open up and he says oh no this is not good. Proceeds to clean it up, after i told him i would do it. He said no you shouldn't have to. He cleans it up and even double checked before he left to make sure I was ok with it. The staff is friendly and polite.. but for the money we are paying (it wasn't cheap!) I shouldn't have to buy cleaning products and do a full room clean up while I'm on "vacation"! This is pretty much the only chance our family got or will get this year to have a mini vacation of sorts and this was not cool to deal with! 3 other families from our team checked out and went to nearby hotels because their rooms were in similar conditions. If I could have afforded it we would have done the exact same thing!!!!! If you have a large vehicle, don't even attempt to park in there parking deck. Would never EVER stay here again. And would never recommend it either. Wish I could get a refund so I could check out and go elsewhere. This is our 1st time at Virginia Beach and this is...
Read moreStayed here the weekend of Sept 8th, stayed for a Friday and Saturday night, I looked and looked for a hotel at Virginia Beach for weeks and kept coming back to this one, the reviews I've seen was really good and that's what made me pick this hotel, I'm always nervous about picking a hotel blindly not knowing what it's actually gonna be like once I get there so I research the hotel on several different sites, especially since I've had a bad experience before, but this hotel was absolutely GREAT! 💯 is it a marriott with curb side service and all the great fancy things expensive hotels has? No, BUT this hotel was CLEAN and the staff was very welcoming and friendly, check in and out was a breeze, parking is free, in the lobby they have juices and coffee, and I must say that the coffee was actually really good! There is an elevator that you can take to your floor, now that is a little stuffy in there but it didn't bother me or the people I was with, the room had hardwood floors and it all seemed very clean, I checked the beds and room for bugs and didn't find not one! Had plenty of towels, the door locked good, the room also had a living room/setting area that was nice, it wasn't noisy at all, they do have a pool that I didn't get to enjoy this visit due to going out doing other things but it looked very nice and clean as well, they don't offer breakfast but there is a restaurant called Scrambled within like a 2 min walking distance that is really good and I recommend, and there is also a beach coffee shop around the corner that has biscuit sandwiches that was amazing! Parking can get tight depending on how busy the hotel is but they work with what they have, I was able to find a spot each time I left and came back so no complaints there, their location is great! You walk around the corner and all the gift shops, resturants and other attractions are right there! You walk directly across the street and your on the beach! There is also a 7-11 right across the street as well! I am 110% pleased with my stay at this hotel and I will definitely be back there and stay many more times! If your looking for a hotel that won't break the bank and is close to the beach and all the other things then stay here, I'm telling you, you...
Read moreLast year we had a house fire. These people put us up in their hotel and the service and the room was excellent. Parking was a bit of a challenge. No breakfast at the time. Fast forward to this year. We are temporarily displaced until our new house is finished inspection. So we chose this place again because of the great experience we had the last time we were here. We checked in on the 31st and are being forced to check out today because of a Kool aid stain on a towel. People I can not make this up. When I tried to pay for another night I was told that the manager would have to inspect the room. A little odd but ok. So the next morning( this morning) I get with the manager and he now tells me that I need to make a deposit of 50 dollars. Again a bit odd because why was I not charged for this on the 31st. I had to move some funds around and finally came back to do the deposit. He then says can we inspect the room. Again I went along with it. I have absolutely nothing to hide. Upon opening the door, there were a medium pile of towels on the floor by the front door waiting for housekeeping to get them in the morning. On one of the towels was a fruit punch stain where one of my kids had spilled some on the table and it was the quickest thing to grab to prevent it from spilling onto the floor. With everything my family and I have gone through in the last year and a half we came back to a place that felt like home away from home only to be treated like vagabonds because we tried to clean things up. Im still in disbelief. So now I have to gather my family and find somewhere else to go that is affordable. I am so disappointed. The people who were beside me were loud and smoking marijuana in the hallways and in their rooms the whole building reeks of it but they chose to put out a family who is simply biding their time until their home is ready. The only thing that they can possibly say is that we had 6 people in a room. We are a family and we stick together. So yeah, it was 6 of us. I took a picture of the pile of clothes to show how...
