This is the worst hotel that I have ever stayed at. I'd give negative stars if I could. I'll give some positive feedback first. The Seaview hotel is in a nice location, and my room had a balcony with an ocean view as well as the beach. The staff is friendly. 3-4 different staff members came to my room and tried to fix my toilet, and finally one of them, I can't remember the guy's name he actually came up and replaced a part and got it working again. Imagine going through all of that while staying at a hotel on vacations starting on day one! There were complimentary drinks and coffee in the lobby area.
The hotel is old and falling apart on the inside. There is a stale odor and wet floors throughout the hotel and elevator. I understand that we are on the beach, but they should have a staff to make sure floors are dry and clean. I stayed there for 3 days, and did not see anyone cleaning or collecting towels, etc.
The hallways are creepy, dingy and dirty. The trash on my floor was not emptied for the entire time that I was there, and the trash can was dirty, falling apart and rusty. There were flies flying around it. No one ever cleaned my room, emptied my trash or bothered to bring me fresh towels. I had been communicating with people at the front desk about my bathroom, and I didnt want to complicate things further by complaining about trash pick up.
My room smelled stale and not fresh and clean. The paint on the bathroom walls is chipping and coming off. Little fixtures in the bathroom are either rusting out or falling off the walls. The walls are dirty. My toilet didn't work for the first 1.5 days of my 3 day stay, I was told to use the bathroom in the lobby (I paid over $1k to stay here for the 4th of July) and I was told to use the bathroom downstairs. Can you imagine how frustrating that was? I was scared to eat or drink anything due to lack of working toilet in my room. I am also a woman who was going through "that time of the month". It was extremely inconvenient and painful for me to have to go all the down to the lobby at all hours of the night just to use the toilet.
The beds were typical regular size beds with old brown, stained bed linen. The sheets were probably washed, but still had stains. The TV is small, outdated with an old dirty and sticky remote. The buttons on the remote are dirty. Issue could be solved if the staff would clean their rooms properly on a daily or at least weekly basis. The ironing board is dirty stained and also rusty. I was scared to iron clothes on it.
The balcony had a nice view and there were chairs out there, however the sliding door to go on the balcony was old, rusty and you had to have incredible strength to open it, and close it back. The door would get stuck if you open in too wide (like how you're actually supposed to use it).
Oh, and last but not certainly not least, I should have stated this first, but there are bugs in that room. I counted at least 4 dead bugs in my room and bathroom.
This hotel ruined my vacation, and it was over priced. It should be illegal for them to charge those prices for such a horrible experience. I feel upset, scammed and disappointed in this entire experience. I'll never forget this awful experience. If could afford to do so, I would have left and booked a hotel room somewhere else the same night that I arrived. I just don't have it like that. So I had to tough it out as best as I could, while trying to enjoy the fact that I was on vacation.
I booked this room via hotels dot com, and there were good reviews and high ratings. There is no way that any "real" guest rated the hotel anything higher than a 3/10 with good remarks. I'm willing to bet people were paid to say nice things and give a 10/10 review, or they must know the owners personally.
I felt that I had to leave this review so that I can hopefully save someone else the agony of spending their hard earned money to stay in this dirty, dingy,...
Read moreThis hotel should be labeled as a motel. The photos are deceiving and we will not be staying again. If you are spending your money to stay a few days on vacation, utilize it elsewhere. We booked through AirBnB and added an additional day with Expedia, staying a total of 4 days.
Below is my experiences:
During our stay, the toilet clogged. The older gentlemen handling the front desk stated there was no maintenance on-site. I suggested the idea we use a plunger and he requested I come down and get the plunger. The downstairs “girls” bathroom had two “out of order” signs on the doors. There seems to be a building issue with plumbing. We had to go downstairs, get the plunger out of this room that was gross and prayed it worked. This caused me undue stress. Additionally, we asked for our towels to be restocked, trash removed, a quick vacuum and sheets changed. They do not complete this without requesting. If this is a hotel, it should be done daily in the rooms while people are out and about. Housekeeping is only on-site for a short amount of time during the day and they do not go above and beyond. We had a time scheduled for 1pm and they came at 12pm while we were still in the room. I had to explain the expectations we laid out at the front desk for timing.
Amenities are supposed to create ease, but it was more work on the customers end. We did pay for a “resort” fee, I would not consider this to be a resort. Also, we utilized a dolly, but ours had a flat tire! We saw rats outside close by jumping around in the bushes. There was no breakfast, but I wouldn’t want to eat there anyway. The same french fry was in the elevator for most of our 4 day stay. I didn’t see anyone in the pool, but I observed it to be dirty and I would not swim in it.
We tried to add a day to our stay. It was more expensive to go through the hotel, so she suggested a booking site. Terrible idea, the site auto placed the date and getting it changed minutes after booking was a nightmare and the advertised rate was deceptive. I should have triple checked the date, but the site would not let me change the date minutes after I recognized my mistake. They were going to charge us a $159 cancellation fee via Expedia. They needed to get a waiver to change the date. At this point, it was so much stress/money to just add a day, we wanted to cancel - but were trapped by the system and policies in place, which led us staying and paying more money than we expected too.
The beach was great and we loved being close to that. However, we ate at a restaurant close to the “Hotel” and there was a fight. It escalated to the point where police were called. This became scary to me, where I felt unsafe and brought my food inside. This is close to the clubs on the strip and felt like we were staying in a “trap house”. I would proceed with extreme caution if you have children staying here.
Lastly, there is no central air and we had a house air conditioner in the room. This kept the room temperature uncomfortable and unevenly distributed through the room.
I hope this helps with anyone’s decision making when choosing their stay! Did not take photos, due to not wanting to have them because of the conditions. I regret not taking any to add...
Read moreAfter booking two rooms and getting there late, we were unable to get adjoining rooms. However, they accommodated us by giving us both rooms on the same floor. There is nothing special about the rooms, but they are clean, which is what matters most. Throughout our stay, the staff was fantastic; they offered us adjoining rooms the following day, but my mom had already settled in, so I declined.
As far as the rooms go, my biggest complaint is based on personal preference- they have cool lighting (which doesn't go with anything and I just find offensive to the eyes, especially when paired with grey walls.. Eek) I bought warm lightbulbs to use during our stay - problem solved- and again personal preference not a deal breaker.
The balcony has two chairs, and the view is amazing. We watched the sunrise from the balcony with my daughter, and it was breathtaking. The building could use some maintenance; there were drops of water here and there (in the hallway and lobby - not in the rooms) probably from heavy rains. The pool was on the smaller side and the water was clean but also cold. For some reason they couldn’t make it warmer. My mom was satisfied with the pool temperature, my daughter was okay after swimming in it, and I was cold so I'll chalk that up to personal preference. The back of the hotel leads right to the boardwalk and the beach which ia really convinient- so thats a plus.
The garage is tight and low, but we were able to drive in and out without issue- just drove slowly. Our Toyota Sequoia has a small rack installed on the top, so there is enough clearance. I think the clearance in the garage is 6’10” if I recall correctly. I am pleasantly surprised and pleased with the parking situation in this hotel. I’ve stayed in other hotels in the area and the parking situation was not great- if the onsite parking was full you had to park off site across the street. There are four levels of parking at this hotel, and you can access the hotel from any of them (floors 1-4). The hotel has 10 floors in total.
Staff members are friendly and helpful. In addition to being very accommodating with my elderly mother, they were also very sweet in general. We cut a cake for my daughter’s birthday and I forgot matches- they went out of their way to find matches and my kid got to blow out candles in her cake on her birthday at midnight.
Although they do not serve breakfast, they do have a cold beverage machine which serves lemonade, strawberry kiwi, etc., and a hot beverage machine which makes coffee, espresso, hot chocolate, cappuccino, chocolate or vanilla cappuccino, etc. Both are available 24 hours a day in the lobby. I am particular about my coffee and alway travel with my own coffee maker- I used my personal coffee maker less in this trip- their coffee machine in the lobby is really good. ☺️
Overall, the hotel is affordable and clean. It could use some upgrades, but they make up for it with their excellent service and location. Staff are extremely friendly, accommodating, and amazing. They were all great, from the front desk to the housekeeper. The stay was relaxing and I'd definitely...
