I don't even know where to start. We were up in Waterville for a hockey tournament over MLK weekend. We had almost 40 rooms (that is a lot of kids) booked for our organization and every single one of our families were treated like family. All the staff were understanding, helpful and kind. || Every morning Dawn would check in and see if we needed anything, see how our night was the night before and helped to make sure we felt like her family. She personally hand washed my white sweatsuit because it was stained beyond repair and I went to the front desk to ask her for some advise and she said I've got this, and did she ever!||Every night Steve would check in and see how we were, if there was anything we needed/how could he help. He took his personal fan out of his office to cool off the conference room because our dance party was getting too hot. ||Front desk Michael was always so kind and helpful when we can to ask him for help because we locked a key in our room or needed more toilet paper. He would end all conversations with no problem glad I could help. Not once did we feel like we were a bother. ||There were over 90 people in our group between players, parents and siblings. Each and everyone one of us know Dawn , Steve and Michael. The way they greeted us, checked in with the players to see how their games went, lent a helpful hand and helped us have the best time we possibly could have! Dawn, Steve and Michael went above and beyond with every once of our trip. No words could thank them enough or explain how truly appreciative we all are for them! I am already missing my stay there. We can't...
Read moreI had my wedding at Waterville Valley, and set a block of rooms for my guests at the Black Bear Lodge. They were kind enough to waive the 2 night minimum since I had a wedding block. I also requested early check-in for my guests since most of them were travelling from 2+ hours away and golfing before the wedding. The wedding started at 4pm, but check-in was at 3pm. The lodge gave me and my guests a really hard time about this to the point where my wedding planner had to help out and get the general manager of the lodge involved. The GM was extremely nice and accommodating, however the experience left myself and a few guests really upset.
The rooms themselves are individually owned condos, so some are a lot nicer than others. They showed me some beautifully renovated rooms during our tour over a year ago, so naturally when I booked I requested an updated/modern room that was facing the mountain (basically, I wanted what they teased me with). I was less than pleased upon check-in to find that despite my request I did not have an updated room. When I asked the desk to change our room since I was the bride, they showed me 3 other rooms that were in worse condition, so I stuck with what I had.
I'm giving the lodge a 2/5 because I really feel like I could have enjoyed my stay there, had the customer service been different. They also did waive the minimum so there's a positive. I just can't get over how rudely we were treated about early check-in and...
Read moreWalking into the lodge my first impression was what you would expect when considering staying in a hotel that resides far from the main road. The lobby was small, lacked frills, and deserved a little attention. This room way clean and the staff were polite. I received my room key and was directed down the hall. My room, room 201, was clean and decorated lightly as you would imagine one would style a home. I won't complain but I counted 13 butterflies on the walls of the wash room and 3 framed photos and a butterfly clock in the shower. The shower walls were lavender and there was a heat lamp in the ceiling. All of the walls I'm the living area and bedroom were decorated as if we were in a cabin which came across as cute. The staff cleaned quickly leaving New clean towels and respected my belongings while still making the bed and tidying up. This location was a nice departure from the typical hotel environment. There was a nice indoor/outdoor pool on the grounds and a dry sauna new the bathrooms. The freedom trail passes made it possible to visit the community gym, pool, hiking, ski lifts, and events which would more than keep a family occupied and engaged in the local community. Even the free coffee at the front desk was pretty good. I visited for a professional but I absolutely think The Black Bear Lodge would serve a vacationing family well. 10/10...
