This is a mixed review with the low score due to the property management. The room and location are great. I love that there is a nice, deep tub in the room. My issue is with the property owners. As of a week ago, the posted rates for having dogs in the cottage was $20/dog/night disclosed and $25/dog/night if not disclosed in reservation. I didn't see anywhere in the online booking process to disclose my two dogs so I emailed the property who promptly responded that the dogs were added to the reservation. We arrived and checked the paperwork in the room which listed the undisclosed dog rate of $25/dog/night. I emailed the property regarding the discrepancy and did not hear back. I know what you're thinking... it's $20 total... why bother? I'm the kind of person who follows the rules and expects the property to stand by their posted rates. Meanwhile, we're spending two nights in Westport over the coldest week of the year.. 17 degrees when we checked in. We kept the faucet running so the pipes didn't freeze and went about our business. We return from dinner on our second day and find that there is no water service to our cottage. We assume that the pipes froze anyway and we would be without water for the remainder of our stay. As we're doing an inventory of how full our water bottles are etc so we can have drinking water and make coffee the next morning, I get a text from the property owners stating that they know the water has been shut off to our cabin and it will be resolved shortly. The water had been shut off earlier but instead of sending a text then, they waited until we arrived and went into crisis mode. Almost as if they were waiting to see if it was resolved before we got back... Giving the benefit of the doubt, we again got on with our lives. When I hadn't received a reply to my email regarding the billing discrepancy in dog fees, I text them. No response. I text again and this time the property replies that they recently changed their rates and I was billed correctly. I reply that I expect the posted rate and the property apologizes for the misunderstanding but there will not be a refund for the difference of $20. This actually wasn't a misunderstanding. I can read and the posed rates were wrong- I did not misunderstand what I read. Read moreWestport Marina Cottages has been our vacation destination for over 5 years., my husband booked for my 60th Birthday., the stay started out with an Ammonia smell that was so strong when entering the cabin, we thought a leak or hiding something…, we opened the windows and that helped, we had to leave the window open, chairs around the table , we couldn’t use them because the legs would have come off, no hot water… cool showers., toaster didn’t work, we received a text that the cabin would be without power from 9-11 in the morning, we made the best of that and went to the Ocean, however we returned at 2:30 and still no power.,we had plans to prepare our meals …, but without electricity could not., no shower water was cold. The electricity never came back on and I asked what they could do and Stephane the GM stated, she would see if they had another room but by this time the entire stay was stress that was being placed on us, not just us but other guests were coming out wondering what was going on, one guest shared that she had heard this was a scheduled upgrade and they didn’t know they were going to need permits, so this could have been handled more professionally by stating this upfront when booking., I was told we would be given a refund of at least one night stay, next day Stephane shared Frank Hotels would not refund our stay because we booked through booking.com… I got with Booking.com and they stated they would make it right with us but we need to give Westport Marina 5 days. The most Westport Marina would do is give a one night credit, when I went to phone to arrange., Denise front desk person raised her voice, saying Stephane went home for the day, Denise talking down to me., I kept calm explaining that we have been long time Patrons, she told me they rescinded their offer., I phoned Frank Hotels to let them know how sad this was…, moral to this point., if everything is going well your golden., if it goes side ways for nothing you have done, they will make it you., they will project all the negativity to you…, it seems to be a recent trend. Read morepaid 10 extra dollars for an ocean view and didnt get one complained thru a review and got a response that said they would let management know and work on getting that room off the list of ocean view rooms. i read many other reviews of people complaining about not having an ocean view they paid for so nothing has ever been done about removing any non view rooms from the list of rooms with a view . and they stated they would work on removing them from the list how much work is it to get on a computer and remove them? they dont do it anyways and have been ripping people off for 10 bucks for along time because apparently its alot of work to take them off the list . I also noticed in the reviews that all complaints are responded to with "we will let management know about it or let a staff member know about it ect... so who writes these reviews just some random person thats not affiliated with the motel because ive seen every position avaliable has had the buck passed to them when they say we will have it looked into so whos writing the responses. i noticed it pretty much the same complaints from many guests over a long period of time so that pretty much goes to show what they have done to right any wrongs thru there review complaints they dont do anything at all exept say we will have it looked into and sorry about that they could have at least refunded the 10 bucks extra i paid for a room with a view know i know why they dont remove them from the list they make to much money ripping people off by charging them for it this place is a scam stay away its...
