Service was friendly and okay, and the place was clean. Except that after our food was delivered, no one ever came back to the table, leaving us with two little glasses of water to ration out while we ate our salty food. Also, after waiting with empty dishes on our table for 20 minutes and still no one - no "Can I get you anything else?" or a check - I finally went up to the counter to ask for our check. Back to the food. The clam chowder was thick, but cooked properly so as to eliminate any flour flavor, and it had some nice chunks of clams in it. The side salad was fresh and generous. However: If you like to taste the expensive Dungeness crab menu item you order, it sounds from the other reviews that the omelet might be a good choice. My wife and I ordered the Crab sandwich. I had asked how big the sandwich is, and was told there is 1/4 pound of Dungeness crab meat in it. What we got was a well-made toasted cheese sandwich, perfectly toasted, and pretty salty. There was some crab meat in it, but if we had not known it was crab in there, we never would have recognized the taste. The cheese flavor and saltiness overpowered any flavor the meager amount of crab would have had. Bad choice, and a lot of money. Speaking of money, I'd say, "Tourists and diners, prepare to get bent over again." Another place charging high prices to hopefully keep them in business during more meager times that may come. Well, I've made my contribution, and I won't be able to come back soon, but if I do, I'll have to be in a spending mood and will try something else on the menu. Also, this is a place that doesn't print its beverage prices on the table card, leaving you guessing how much something will cost. And what does "market price" mean that day on some items? I have a finite amount of money to spend. Please - owners, be up-front and informative about your prices. Try to make your food something to come back for. Don't have your customers leave with a bad taste in their mouths. (See what I did there?) We drove a long distance to have a nice, fresh seafood experience, but we understand now that we can drive no further than Olympia and...
Read moreFirst impression: Walking into this establishment, it was clean and well decorated. The tables were spaced comfortably and the atmosphere was a calm one. The hostess wanted to put us in the back, even though we saw an open table by the window and requested it. The hostess said that it would be difficult to get around for them even though the open table was in a corner. Not wanting to inconvenience her, we went to the back where she wanted us. Now we didn't get to enjoy the atmosphere of this highly rated establishment but instead were looking at lockers and a storage area.
Service: The young man who took our orders did a fantastic job with the perfect attitude for the industry. Right on dude. We waited for 50 minutes after placing a simple order of an omelette and scrambled eggs. We went to the front desk to inquire about our order and when being told that our order was coming up we turned back to our table only to see it had been cleaned off within 20 seconds of us being away from it, almost like they didn't want us there and wanted us gone. We finally got our food.
Food: We should have just left. The eggs were rubbery and greasy. The hash browns were soggy and full of oil as well as missing the crisp on the outside. The only item that was cooked well was the toast. But come on, how hard is it to put a piece of bread in a toaster. We couldn't finish the meal as all the oil left us feeling sick.
In conclusion, we went to pay at the front desk and to ask for them to knock down the price since the experience and food was less than acceptable. We got our answer when the hostess began justifying everything with a very annoyed tone.
My advice: Find another restaurant to eat at, there are plenty of other choices in the area. Of all the establishments we visited while in Westport, this was the only negative experience. Why this place is rated 4.5 stars is beyond my...
Read moreMy family was most impressed with the food. It was delicious, well prepared and generous portions.
We came in around 9am and we were one of the first customers inside. By the time we got our food this place started rocking and filled up.
Food:
I had the Dungeness Crab Benedict: This has an amazing portion of crab. The sauce was perfect, eggs perfect, and the English muffins were also prepared perfectly. The hash browns had an amazing taste and crispiness.
My wife had french toast, bacon and eggs. She's very picky and 90% of the time she won't eat eggs from restaurants as she likes them slightly browned. She ended up devouring her eggs and was flabbergasted that they were cooked to perfection. Bacon was also very well prepared and had a perfect crisp!
My son had pancakes, eggs and sausage. Let me warn you these pancakes are not playing around. The portions here are fit for kings! They offer sausage links and patties, my son wanted the links and these are also great tasting! I ended up stealing one as he couldn't finish his.
Service:
There was only one waiter when we showed up. She was beyond nice, professional, and amazing! She kept up with keeping our coffee filled which, was also an amazing cup of Joe! She was quick to get seated, take our order, and talk us through the menu giving us ample time to make our minds up!
Cost: My crab bennidict was half my bill, but for breakfast the dungeoness crab was beyond amazing and huge portion. Ultimately plan on $10-20 a person for most menu items. Crab gets upwards of $30 ($26 for my Benedict... Which was 💯 worth it.)
If you find yourself in Westport you better find yourself eating here for breakfast! I know Google only gives us 5 stars, but this place is higher than 5 stars for friendlessness, service, quality and portions of food.
Thanks for the astounding meal...
