We had a mixed experience here. The service was odd. We were seated after a short wait and given breakfast menus. It was about 12:30 and their board said lunch started at noon. We found them online and drove 30 minutes out of our way to try their bloody maries and a few items off their lunch menu. When we asked about lunch, the waitress informed us they were only serving breakfast all day. We asked if we could still get the loaded bloody maries and she left to ask. She told us they could but my husband's would take a bit longer so they offered him a $4 well drink while he waited. We thought that was really nice. We decided to split a breakfast meal because we were starving. We ordered the eggs poached. They came out in a cute cup but were not properly drained so the cup was filled with water we had to pour out. The turkey sausage tasted like the frozen kind you can get at Walmart. The potatoes were decently seasoned but greasy and just not very good. Our bloody maries were excellent. The smash burger on my husband's was phenomenal. So much flavor and very juicy. My regular bloody had a great variety of pickled veggies. The staff were very friendly but seemed scattered and working in all different areas of the restaurant. After we ordered we never saw our original waitress again. We had 3 other servers randomly checking on us. It was overall a strange experience. We were thankful for the bloody maries because otherwise we would have been extremely...
Read moreI was out for a job in Westport and was looking for a place to grab some breakfast. This place came up on my search and absolutely blew me away.
I believe that Biscuits and Gravy are the perfect test for any place that serves breakfast, and The Slippery Deck graduates top of the class, 110 percent on the test.
The biscuits were light, flaky, and that beautifully imperfect shape that makes them a perfect vessel for the gravy, which was rich, unctuous, and seasoned perfectly. I got excited and started eating before thinking to take a photo.
I ordered a side of the house potatoes as a harder sort of test. I usually don’t like house potatoes, but they surprised me here. Light, crispy, not too oily, not overly salted. Excellent.
My server, Kendall, was an absolute ray of sunshine. Upbeat and energetic, she kept the coffee hot, fresh and strong (good coffee, too!) and made good conversation in the moments between.
On a day with an honestly tough start, I walked out of The Slippery Deck with a full belly, a caffeinated brain, a box of delicious leftovers, and a quiet smile.
If you’re in the area, you gotta stop...
Read moreTo add on to the review from Austin Knowles (I was in the same dinner party) the total price was $100 for only 3 meals to be done correctly out of an 8 person party. The burger to-go for my MIL was raw in the middle after waiting over 2 hours for what she originally ordered but failed to tell her they were out. They also put a bunch of extra things on it that she didn't ask for on her burger. The waitress was nice and I felt for her but she did spill drinks on some of us or seem to notice that 2 people didn't get their food after waiting over an hour and a half while the rest of our table was completed, with meals that still weren't correct but we didn't bother to keep sending back food as it felt pointless at that point. Some of our food was good but overall the cook didn't seem to know what they were doing or the kitchen is seriously lacking communication. We all left extremely disappointed and like we waisted time and money. They never even asked us for any discount based on all of the mess ups that happened. Would not...
