Rodeway Inn Winnemucca — Hotel in Winnemucca

I stayed at this hotel at the beginning of July. Not only did I think I would never again stay there, but screamed it to the heavens and also gave thought to never booking through Priceline again! I can tell you, I ended up staying there one last time, as I had to stop unexpectedly and money was running low. I booked through Priceline because I got the cheapest rate.

Damn you deals and unexpected life events!

This hotel had a great rate, it looked unaesthetically pleasing, but sometimes I end up liking places that are, so I took the risk. My trip to Winnemucca was just for the night, as I was headed to Idaho and figured what the hell. Well, life happens. I left later than planned but did call the hotel to let them know I would be a late check in. They were accommodating, the office would be closed by the time I got to town, but they left my key in a mailbox so I could get in my room. I thought nice and went along my way. I ended up with car trouble and slept at a rest stop until I could get a tow truck to help and I could get to the hotel. I did not call the hotel because I knew the office was closed. I get into town at about 5:00 a.m. and all I want is a shower, nap, and to get to Idaho. The hotel is very rundown, but I am too tired to care.

I park, lock up my belonging in my car and instead of getting my key from the mailbox, I go in so I can let them know what happened and show my ID and stuff. The office is dirty and kinda smelly, but too tired to care. I did notice they also sell liquor, which was unique. I walked up to the guy and explained the situation. He seemed cool and said I could check in shower and be out by 11:00. I hand him my ID and he starts screaming at me. Obviously I am confused and I calmly ask why he is yelling at me.

He tells me they are full and is literally screaming in my face telling me to leave. I tell him, you might be full but one of those rooms are technically mine (as I paid in advance). He starts yelling at me louder, which I didn't think possible, and for some reason, I am able to stay completely calm and tell him I am calling Priceline and to check the mailbox, so he will find my room key. He tells me to call outside. I said no, I will stand right here in case they need to speak with you. I also tell him if he does not want the police called he will stop being verbally abusive.

I get on the phone and he goes to the mailbox. As I am on hold, he gets out my key opens the envelope with my name on it and finds the key to my room. He asks for my ID again, I gibe it, and he hands me back the room key and my ID and tells me to go ahead to my room.

Now, if I was not so exhausted and I did not look and smell like I slept in the desert at a rest stop things would have been different, but I was so took the damn key and went to my room. I decided against a nap and planned on a quick shower and to get out of there as fast as possible.

I get to the room and ew. It smelled awful. The bed was hard as a rock the pillows were nothing you would want to lay your head on and the carpet and furniture was stained. It was a little sad cause if upgraded the room has potential. It was cheap and I still feel I paid too much.

I quickly got ready and left. On the way back from Idaho, I stopped unexpectedly in Winnemucca because I was not feeling well. Money was short and I thought maybe the guy won't be there and the experience will be a little better so I called to make sure they had a room downstairs, as at them time I could not get up and down them and they said they did.

I get to the hotel, and I ask for a room downstairs and she tells me they are full. I thought here we go again.

I let her know I have a disability and cannot go up the stairs. I told her I called and confirmed you had rooms downstairs' before coming. This was by far the worst motel I've ever stayed in. We booked at the last minute due to road conditions. We had a double queen room. It was a huge room with the oddest layout, almost as big as two rooms. It was dingy and dated. Dirt and scuffs on walls, mismatched colors for the light bulbs. Double sinks had completely different faucets. Bathtub was stained and dirty; we decided to skip showers to avoid catching some disease. The shower rod was almost rusted through. Stains on holey/ badly patched, dirty carpeting, and tile. The only phone was next to the toilet. Drywall peeling/coming off on ceiling. The only chair in the room was beyond gross.The mattresses are so incredibly uncomfortable; you could feel the springs as you lay on them. The smoke detector missing is cover. Holes in the blackout drapes. The heater was so loud you couldn't hear the TV without your neighbor also hearing it.

Snow and ice in the parking lot, but only the part being driven on was treated. I had to help an elderly man who fell and couldn't get up.

Advertised as having a free breakfast. First, the office didn't open until 9:00, 2nd the breakfast was instant oatmeal packets.

There was a separate $20 pet fee, which normally would be understandable; however, this room was so nasty that even my little dog was uncomfortable.

Once the office was open, I went to ask for a receipt. We booked through one of the known booking sites online; the front desk person (who lives onsite with her dog) and had checked us in the night before, didn't seem to understand and told me to just print my own from the booking site. She was rude enough that I didn't bring up my concerns at that moment, plus we had four more states to get through that day and waiting for them to open put us behind schedule.

Using the booking site, we received a good discount. Even so, I feel like we paid way too much. We did contact the booking site to have the charge reversed, but the general manager at Roadway refused to refund. If you're stuck in Winnemucca and can't find anyplace else, sleep in your...

Where do I begin? The front desk person upon arrival was pleasant. Once we got to out room it was extremely old and worn! The mattress was hard as a rock and the pillows flat as a pancake. The table in the room had not been wiped down and had old food debris on it. There was a very old and stained chair in the room along with 2 metal folding chairs to sit on. the sink was old and rusted out with no plug in place. Heaven forbid you drop something in the sink, because it would go right down the drain. The floor was so dirty that it looked like my husband had been walking outside barefooted when he looked at the bottom of his feet. When I moved the nightstand to get access to an outlet, there was a half smoked old cigarette behind it. WhenI booked this room it was because it was a Choice Hotel. I should have been suspicious when there were no pictures of the property on the website. There was a pool, but as everything else it was so dirty, making it very unwelcoming. Although check out time was 11:00 AM, the house cleaning staff came knocking at 9:00 AM and again at 10:00 AM. Do they not check to see if people have checked out? The parking lot had trash in it including cigarette buts everywhere. The only positive thing I have to say besides the front desk attendant is the air conditioning worked well and the noise it made was tolerable.
