I wish there was a star choice between dislike and ok. The store was open plenty, which was really nice. Reasonable prices for a tourist trap campground. Hand dipped ice cream! There's a game room and laundry facility ($2 per machine), and showers located in the "upper" and "lower" sections. The site was good sized. They had cute cabins as well. The playground was aged, but decent (in "lower" - we didn't fully scope out the one in "upper"). They have a kangaroo bouncy thing, little caged trampolines (2 of them), and a movie screen for Saturday night movies. The splash pad was super fun for the kiddo. The wifi NEVER worked, no matter how many times we asked them about it. They always claimed to reset it, but in the 5 days we were there, none of us in the group were able to use it. My data was spotty with my carrier and I missed a number of messages. We all had different phones and different carriers. Dead zone for us. One of the bathroom toilets was broken. There was a lack of toilet paper in the bathrooms where I had to use paper towel instead (which I brought back to the campsite to burn - I didn't flush it). During our stay, another toilet took a dump (haha, I'm so funny) and I went to tell the office/store and the girl rolled her eyes. I want to assume she was rolling her eyes at the broken toilet, or someone breaking it and not telling them, instead of her rolling her eyes at me telling her, but I'm honestly not sure. I understand the long, hot weekends get to everyone but we felt like we got a little attitude a couple times from the office people. The "heated" pool was always crisp to me.... Maybe they heat it to a really cool temperature or not at all when it is super hot out, I don't know. But it was cold. The dumpsters are all the way in the back corner and all the roads are one way (which I know is a normal in a campground) but for those of us stuck in the very front, it would have been nice to have a drop station somewhere up front so we didn't have to drive there entire campground everyday to bring our garbage out there. The policy there states you have to bring your garbage to the dumpsters daily. And I saw no evidence of recycling. I guess the golf carts don't have to follow the one way roads because I saw employees and guests all driving those things whichever way they wanted. We felt that we were overcharged (due to what actually went on my credit card and what we signed for online). The money was refunded, but, again, attitude. The entrance/exit is congested. If you have a couple campers using the pump station (which is right there), don't expect to get out of the campground in a reasonable amount of time. Had a decent time. The water and electricity worked. They seemed to enforce the quiet time as we never were bothered between those periods, which was awesome. Checkout time is decent (noon), but checkin was 4... They give you a book with coupons. Cool. Would I stay here again? Maybe. But I would probably check out something else first to see if they...
Read moreJust back from a 4 night stay at Sherwood Forest RV park and I truly wish that I could have rated this RV park higher than 3 stars. After reading lots of reviews in preparation for our Wisconsin Dells trip, we chose Sherwood Forest on the basis of very favorable reviews. But, those favorable reviews did not quite live up to our expectations. Check-in was easy and staff was very friendly...gave us our camp location and we headed out. At the site, we found that the promised 30 amp service included only one 30 amp style plug (someone was already plugged into the 30 amp circuit) and 2 normal outlets. When I questioned the management team, they told me that all the service was 30 amp and they would provide an adaptor for my power needs. I explained that was not what I wanted and I was promptly moved to another location that met my power needs. However, sometime during our 4 night stay, the RV park staff took it upon themselves to unplug me from power so someone else could have access to the appropriate 30 amp circuit and then proceeded to reapply power using an adaptor that I had already indicated was not acceptable. (This was not discovered by me until Monday morning when we were "breaking camp".) The owner/manager had no explanation whatsoever to explain why his staff would unplug me from power to accommodate another camper. I told him it was unacceptable and really only got a cursory apology. We were also led to believe (by other reviews) that the free wireless internet service was very good. PLEASE, do not believe that for a minute. The service was slow to nearly non-existent. I ended up using my cell phone as a "hotspot" and used up all my monthly data to have access to wi-fi...I am a college instructor teaching an on-line summer class and needed a high quality internet access. Again, I simply got a cursory apology and brief explanation that good wi-fi was difficult at this RV park. In addition, both my wife and I had issues with the state of repairs/cleanliness of the rest room/showers. The ladies room was never completely cleaned...my wife reported that one of the toilet stalls was dirty with the same stains for all four days. In the men's shower room, one toilet remained out of service for all 4 days. I also found that there was an abundance of trash at the various dumpster, no effort to have a least one family "police" their rental cabin site for all 4 days we were there. The front desk staff (the younger folks) seemed to not have any knowledge of the wi-fi on-site or some basics of customer service to include tracking down a on-site manager when I discovered the issue with the power source. The one VERY positive thing I can say....quiet hours really meant quiet hours. There was a walking security patrol on the property during the night and that certainly helped with maintaining quiet hours. But, to be honest, if I return to the Dells, I won't be staying at...
Read moreI do not think this review will hit the site, however we stayed here July 21 2016 to July 24 2016. The campground is not too bad. A bit dirty. Garbage all over the ground when we pulled in. But the biggest issue we have is that the campground offers for the children, a wristband that costs 15.00 per child. This allows them to play on the basket courts, go on a big jumpy and pedal bikes. We brought our 2 grandchildren which we take camping every year and this is the first time we were at this campground. The 2 boys did not want access to anything but the patel bikes. Each time they would go to get a helmet to ride the bikes, they would be given helmets, then go out to start riding them only to be told by someone else, they cannot ride them because of a few different reasons. In fact my oldest grandson who is 11, went one time to get a helmet. But when he asked for one, he was told no. He then came back to the site and told me. I went in the office with him and asked for one and they gave it to him. I asked him if the women who I asked was the same women he asked, (by the way I was standing directly in front of her and she never said a word to me) he told me yes. The women never said "You need an adult or any any other reason. She just stood there looking at me. They say this is "Kid Friendly" but I wouldn't say they were friendly at all. The next day, it was raining on and off all day. Again, the boys got the helmets ( I went in with them) we went outside, I walked across the street to finish drying my clothes. The boys come back and tell me once again, they got on the bikes and a worker went over to them and said it is unsafe to ride the bikes because its raining. It was barly drizzling when this happen. Again the boys came and got me. I then went into the office and asked what the hell was going on. One of the women said "There is a bit of miscommunication with her and the workers outside. I said why cant they ride. She said because its raining. The other woman jumps in the conversation. Was quit rude and said " You know its raining" I then said, there is a branch that fell during a storm and you are not worried about that, but you are worried about a little rain? How does that make sense? The women says " There is no branch! What are you talking about?" This woman argued with me for 5 minutes before I finally said, let's go outside. The branch is write across from the building. The bottom line is, I would not stay here again. The stuff is not friendly at all. We paid 15.00 for each boy (Total of 30.00) for nothing. And when I asked about a refund, I got a very snotty " WE DON'T GIVE REFUNDS" I asked for the manger and was told you can contact them here. I said we are leaving can I get an email or phone number I was told NO we cannot give out that info.????? What, why???????? If I were you, I would find...
