My recent stay at the Days Inn & Suites by Wyndham Wisconsin Dells left me utterly disappointed and frustrated. From the moment I walked in, the experience was marred by a series of unpleasant incidents that overshadowed any potential positives.
Upon arriving at the hotel for check-in, I was unfortunate enough to witness an episode of appalling customer service. The front desk attendant was shockingly rude to another guest right in front of me, demonstrating an attitude that was completely uncalled for. Little did I know that this was just a prelude to the treatment I would receive. As I approached the counter to be assisted, the same attendant attempted to apologize to me for the previous guest's behavior. While I appreciated the gesture, what truly baffled me was that she failed to acknowledge her own misconduct and instead shifted the blame.
Eager to make the best of the situation, I made my way to the room, hoping for a more positive experience. However, my optimism quickly dwindled as I began to assess the cleanliness of the space. Being someone who takes hygiene seriously, I always carry disinfecting wipes to give surfaces a once-over. What transpired was shocking – the wipes turned black with grime after a single use. The level of filth I encountered was utterly repulsive and completely unacceptable for a reputable hotel chain like Wyndham.
The disappointing surprises didn't stop there. On the counter in the room, there was a laminated TV guide that also featured a menu for Pizza Hut. With hunger pangs setting in, I eagerly dialed the number, only to be informed that the menu was outdated and the item I desired was no longer available. It's truly baffling that such a basic detail had been overlooked, reflecting a lack of attention to even the simplest guest comforts.
As my stay neared its end, I approached the front desk to check out, only to be greeted by yet another frustrating scenario. I was asked to take a seat because their system was taking an abnormally long time to load. This delay wasn't exclusive to me; another gentleman who arrived after me was also subjected to this inconvenience. To compound matters, we were told that our rooms were being checked – a practice I've never encountered during check-out in any other hotel. This experience left me feeling belittled and insulted, as if my trustworthiness was being questioned.
In a final display of poor service, the hotel staff decided to help the gentleman who arrived after me before addressing my own check-out. It was only after he had left that I felt compelled to voice my dissatisfaction, highlighting the obvious injustice that had taken place. This incident was emblematic of the overall lack of professionalism and disregard for guest experience that I encountered throughout my stay.
In summary, my experience at the Days Inn & Suites by Wyndham Wisconsin Dells was nothing short of disappointing. From the rude front desk attendant, to the unsanitary room conditions, to the outdated menu, and the frustrating check-out process, this hotel fell far below the standards I would expect from a reputable establishment. Regrettably, I cannot in good conscience recommend this place to friends or family, and I hope that my feedback serves as an opportunity for improvement for the...
Read moreWhen we looked online at hotels in the Wisconsin Dells we were trying to find something that was affordable but yet had enough space for four grown people. The pictures on the website for Days Inn were large rooms and wood floors and they seem nice and roomy and comfortable. Unfortunately that was not the case when we arrived at the Days Inn, our room was small and crowded and uncomfortable. They didn't really offer any extra incentives and did not offer breakfast. It was about midnight when we checked in and all of the doors were locked that I had to call the hotel just to be able to get in. I guess that's a good thing but it also says something when the doors are all locked . We were able to get in and get our room and that process was easy. Back to the part when I said a room was uncomfortable let me describe a few things. Every drain (sink & tub) and the room was clogged so we had to wait for the bathtub to drain before the next person could take a shower. The beds were like trampolines, two bouncy and only three pillows on each bed. I just kind of dealt with that stuff because we weren't going to be there during the day anyway but when I was woke up at 7:30 in the morning on day 2 because of someone doing a cannonball into the pool I was pretty disappointed & that pushed me over the edge. Our room was above the indoor pool and there were about nine people down there taking advantage of the pool opening at 7 a.m.. it was so noisy that we could actually hear the conversations that these people were having. It was very very disappointed we had to turn the TV on just to drowned out all the noise that they were making and then my whole family was awake because of them. We stayed two nights in the hotel and the second night that we stayed there we arrived back at the hotel about 11:30 p.m. there were three cars blocking the parking lot because there was only two entrances to the parking lot. It extended back way behind the building which was super inconvenient because our room was in the front of the hotel. It felt like we walked 5 minutes just to get back to our room. The three cars that were blocking the parking lot we're not moving they were being inconsiderate and rude and look like they wanted to start a fight. After finally being able to squeeze my way around them since they weren't moving even though everyone was aware that I was there trying to get through I was able to get a parking lot in literally the very last parking space of the hotel farthest away from the door. We were walking to our room and another car was trying to get by them so they honked and then the people standing outside the cars started yelling rude comments and instigating an argument just because these people were trying to get by so they could park. It's so disappointing how inconsiderate people are nowadays. At that point we decided to walk through the entire Hotel just to get to the front of the building cause we didn't want to take any risks of anyone getting shot or being a part of any type of argument. Needless to say we will never stay here again and we may never stay at another Days Inn franchise to be honest. My advice to you if you're reading this is to go ahead and pay that extra $100 for the nicer Hotel...
Read moreWe knew we made a mistake as soon as we saw the hotel from the distance. If our reservations were refundable we would have cancelled. The paint on the building is chipping and the walls are cracking. The building and parking lot are slanted and uphill and the layout is very confusing. This hotel is not for you if you can’t walk far or read a map. The receptionists were bickering with a group of elderly women but it looked like they caused the problem. There was only one working computer so we waited a long time to check in.
We booked the queen bed room which looked much bigger in the pictures online. The room had a queen bed but the room was smaller than my college dorm room. For two people for two nights, it was way too cramped. If you’re claustrophobic you should get your own room.
The bathroom only came with a few washcloths and very small towels. I was still wet after using all of them. I asked for more but they didn’t have any. The shower was low so I had to squat to wash my hair. The floor initially looked ok but after I showered I noticed the bottom of the shower mat was covered in dirt from the floor. There were two tiny garbage cans. The insides were covered in a sticky substance with dirt. The remote for the very small TV didn’t work. The receptionists gave me a new one but not before asking if I knew how to work a remote. This remote also did not work. The third one finally did. The cable was horrible, slow, and didn’t have basic channels like NBC. It was very disappointing and made for a boring night.
The bed was uncomfortable and hard. The smaller than normal mini fridge and microwave were old and clunky at best and were awkwardly located in a closet. The walls were very thin and you could hear the TV in the hallway. You can hear the people in the room next door having sexual intercourse.
The whole pool and hot tub are surrounded by glass and visible from the lobby and first floor. I felt like a fish in a fish tank. It is weird sitting there in a bathing suite while everyone at the front desk can see you. Overall the hot tub and pool are the best features of the hotel. The pool are did not have any towels for the duration of our stay. The breakfast was what you’d expect at a typical Days Inn. They had a cool pancake maker machine.
Synopsis: It’s a hotel from the early 2000’s that was never upgraded. It has potential if they actually renovate the place. You get what you pay for. For $70.00 a night it could have been worse.
