After putting off replacing my mattress for too long, this past weekend I choose to look at my options and went to Mattress Firm of Woburn. I wasn't sure what to expect but i was pleasantly surprised by a relaxing clean environment, tho a bit overwhelmed by the number of mattresses set up. I was greeted by Jeff who took the time to ask me questions to narrow down which I should consider and answered any questions I had about the different options. Having little to no previous experiences with shopping mattresses Jeff made it a easy and relaxing process. At no point did I feel rushed or pressured even when other customers showed up did I feel like I was ignored, he spent time with each of us to discuss and answer our concerns. After finally choosing a mattress that suited my needs Jeff helped with check out and setting up the delivery. When I received the mattress a few days later with the "red carpet delivery" they actually rolled out a small red carpet, which was pleasantly entertaining detail. The movers had given me a time frame to expect them and had shown up promptly. They were careful when both removing the old mattress set and bringing in the new one, again a smooth quick process. Rafael seemed to be the only worker in the store, but he came directly to meet me and confirmed the model was in stock. As we discussed the item, it became clear that a different one might be better for me. Rafael explained that I already had much of what I needed, such that another model might be more appropriate. When I asked if the price points were similar, he told me the more appropriate model was actually about 30% less expensive. I was quietly impressed: Rafael wasn't concerned about making a larger sale in the short term. Without even thinking about it, he understood that in the long run a loyal and satisfied customer is worth far more to the business -- and to himself -- than a few more dollars in the moment. To top it off, Rafael then hoisted the bulky box on his back and placed it in my car. It wasn't terribly heavy -- I carried it into my house. Read moreAlright, here’s the fiasco from a few days ago: We walk in, and this bearded guy—let’s call him the Mattress Bandit—literally runs at us like we’re holding gold bars. No time to browse, just straight into a chaotic mattress lecture. He shows us the priciest beds first, rattling off features with zero context, so we’ve got no clue what we’re comparing. Finally, after five mattresses, he begrudgingly shows us something under $1,000 but trashes anything remotely affordable like it’s beneath him. I thought we’d get to try a few, but nope—he drags us to his desk and starts pushing for a sale on a mattress I didn’t even pick. When I said I don’t buy without testing, he got snarky and aggressive: “You’re wasting my time!” Oh really? I’m wasting your time? We left and went to another store nearby where they treated us like humans. Bought a mattress the same day—no pressure, no nonsense.
