Stayed here for 4 nights while visiting Boston area. When we first checked into our ground floor room we opened the curtains to find that the wind was blowing into the room thru about a one inch gap as the window had obviously been broken in/out of at some point. The handle on the window was broken completly off, and you could see at the bottom of the window frame where it had been pryed on at the bottom track. They had a little rod they used to keep the window locked. We went to the front desk, and told them about it, and they sent one of their maintenance crew to our room to close it. It took him about 10 minutes of opening and slamming the window to actually get it closed enough so that wind wasn't blowing thur window.
That night when I pulled the covers back to get into bed, I found HAIR inbetween the sheets. It was early AM so I ended up sleeping on top of the bed spread the first night. The next morning my husband told one of the maids, and she said they would change the sheets, I also told the front desk clerk there was hair in the sheets of the bed, and would they please CHANGE THE SHEETS while we were out for the day. We got back that evening, and we could tell they hadn't even made the bed. I went to the front desk, and told the clerk that they had NOT changed the sheets like we had asked, and we wanted them changed like we had asked them to do that morning. Cleaning staff was already gone for the evening, but one of the Front Desk Clerks actually came and changed the sheets for us. The next day they didn't empty the garbage cans. They claim that the property has been newly renovated, but from what we could see they just repainted walls, but you would see the walls in the bathroom had water damage around the bath/shower, and instead of repairing it, they just left it, and painted over it. Each night was a different price, and i had to book each night seperate as the online sight did not offer the AAA discount if I booked them all together. I called 800-RED-ROOF, and asked them about this, and they said each property set their prices, and could change what discounts they wanted to accept daily. 1 night was $98, 2 nights were $108, and 1 night was $155. The night for $155 we found out there was some motorcycle rally in the area, and that was the night they wouldn't offer the AAA discount. Our overall experience was POOR at best. We had stayed here a few years ago, and that is why we decided to stay here again, but after our stay this time, and the experience we had we don't plan on...
Read moreEdit: We didn't get any more soap or shampoo over the 3 days we were there. Also the soda and candy machines didn't accept $1s, they are your change because they were full (likely why they didn't accept cash), and even though the credit card slot said it would show you an amount due that's $0.25 less than the real amount due, it would switch from $2 to $5 once you swiped your card... So if you're thirsty and desperate enough to, according to the machine, pay $5 for a drink, the few I selected said they were sold out (some machines charge more initially, and then return the hold amount in a few days. But this machine didn't specify if the extra $3 card charge was a fee or a hold..
Edit continued: After pumping 3 quarters into the machine, and it only went up by 1 quarter, I hit the change return button, but it only gave me 30 cents back.. Feeling defeated I frustratingly headed back to my room. But frustration turned to anger and I headed back to the machine. I beat the sh*t out of the change bin and coin return slot and it ended up giving me $1.80 in change back.. so I walked away thirsty and mad, and I made a lot of noise so I'm sure someone else was mad at 12am. But I made a profit, and when the person staying in the room angrily whipped open his door to see what the noise was, his whole demeanor changed when he saw I was giving the machine what it deserved. He shot me a look of understanding (I assume the profit I made was their money) went back to his room and I went back to mine... The soap, drinks, and lack of hot breakfast in the end made me lean more towards 2 stars...
Edit Cont. 3: Also, if your air\heatet won't stay running, the trick is to set it to fan first and let it run for a minute, and then set it to your temperature and it will work. It took me a night of sweating before I figured it out, but the next 2 nights were good once I learned the trick..
Original review: It's ok. I've stayed in much better 3 star hotels, but I've also stayed in worse. Breakfast is limited to 3 different cereals, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, and 3 types of toast-able breads. I think it was bread, bagels, and waffles. And there were muffins, like dessert muffins, not English muffins.
Vending machine takes credit cards for drinks, snacks, and shampoo. There are no available plugs by the bed unless you slide out the end table and unplug the lamp, clock (which was flashing 12, probably because there's no spare plugs), phone, or mystery chord #4.
But it's not bad per se, just...
Read moreNot pleased. ||||Booked 2 nights here to come work in our Boston office nearby. Hotel was rated 4.0 but nothing about it was even average. It looked dirty. I asked if I could see the room first because I was shocked they were charging $200+/night for the hotel conditions. Front desk attendant told me he couldn’t let me see the room because he was there alone, so I took a chance because he seemed nice. Plus it was 9pm and I had traveled from Texas. My mistake.||||One elevator was broken, in what appeared to be the norm. Which was as frustrating when dealing with luggage and others waiting for the one elevator to come.||||Upon unloading in the room I turned on the heat (it was 40 degrees outside) and then left for dinner at Surf. Returned 1-1/2 hours later and the room was still cold! The heat didn’t work in the room. I called and was told no one was there to help because it was after hours. So I asked for extra blankets which never came. I was so uncomfortable and cold, that I tossed and turned the entire night and unfortunately woke up with anxiety and chills from the lack of rest and sleep, yet needed to work the next day.||||Also, before attempting to sleep, I tried to watch tv but the remote control didn’t work. Front desk said he couldn’t bring me one but that he had one that would work, but I had to come down to get it. I did. Got back to the room from waiting around for the elevator, both ways, and it didn’t work. I called back and he told me to come back down to get another. I was too tired and tried to just go to sleep after not being about to stream from my iPad because of the bad WiFi.||||However during my schlep downstairs, there were people camped out at both ends of the 3rd floor hallway, charging their cell phones, talking loud on the phone and just sitting out in the hallway, as if they lived in the hotel. ||||There appeared to be unhoused people living at the hotel who were also hanging out in the lobby and also outside the entrance. I decided to check out early and asked for an adjustment for the heat not working but never received a response from the hotel manager as I was told would happen.||||BOTTOM LINE…..If you care about where you spend your money, your safety and a comfortable stay, DO NOT stay at this hotel. If you don’t care, this is the hotel for you.||||They also charge a $150 hold fee as if we are moving in which leads me to believe there are unhoused people living there. ||||This is not the place for...
