27 Suites — Hotel in Montevideo

I booked my room based on TripAdvisor reviews and the photos on the hotel’s website. Unfortunately our room did not live up to expectations. Good points: location safe, nice local places to eat, a number of local supermarkets, a laundry across the road, good aircon, all staff very friendly (one with excellent English). Bad points: squashed mosquito on tiles near bathroom sink for the whole stay, chipped toilet seat, water hot enough but shower not very strong, towels seemed well worn, rubbish not cleared fully during room service, room service very late, lacking a sharp knife to cut food eg. fruit, sheets stained, a sour smell in the bed (pillows?), the ocean view is a snippet of water through a couple of windows.||That’s probably enough to give you the picture. We stayed here for a week and found 27 Suites to be comfortable and in a good location. We had a nice balcony that overlooked the residential area we were in and we spent a lot of time out enjoying the view. The room was a little bit spartan as far as the kitchen area went but we did have breakfast and lunches in our suite. The bathroom was nice and spacious. The area was great for walking as far as restaurants and shops. There was a grocery store a few blocks away and also a great bakery. The beach was just steps away and we enjoyed walking along it. Also the bus service into the city is very good from here and we rode the bus most days that we went into the old town etc. Very frequent service. The front desk staff was helpful...
