Hotel Gema — Hotel in Montevideo

we arrived late to an unclean room, lipstick marks on the pillow cases, and dirty sheets.||staff was not all that helpful but said management would be available next day. they were, but they offered nothing in the way of improving our stay, only suggested we contact our on line booking agent if we werent happy, we left after 2 nights even though we had paid for 4 nights.||Our room was very dusty and dirty, the curtains were dingy grey-white and looked like they had never been washed, dining area table was very wobbly, the whole place needed a paint job badly, and the furnishings were all low quality. sheets were terribly thin and the pillows were horrible pancakes that should have been changed 50 guests ago. the towels were threadbare dingy grey and smelly, and the bathroom was really small.||definately not a 4 star, 2 star at best.||We feel it should have been mentioned on line that they keep a kosher kitchen, which means Saturday's breakfast was prepared Friday before sundown, so expect old fruit and nothing fresh. But truthfully Friday's breakfast was nothing to write home about either, coffee was undrinkable old tasting, baked goods were stale, fruit looked like it had been cut by the blind. we really did'nt like this place at all. Management were rude when we complained and extremely unhelpful, they should have at least offered us a different room, or our money back to...

Besides good localization and nice people working at Gema, I cannot say anything nice about this place.||We arrived early morning, around 5:30 am. Room was prepared but smelled strange. My husband had noticed that, as well as an odor on the corridor - sewers should be fixed... I ignored this In the beginning, but when we went to bed I felt from the bedding a horrible smell of cigarets!!! Moreover, there is no luxury considering pillows - as someone said before, they remind flat, breakfast pancakes. ||Breakfast is very poor, fruits are almost gone, no real selection or anything besides cakes (not really breakfast thing...). Calling coffee ´´a coffee´´ is a misunderstanding.||Our room was not cleaned during the first day. Next day, when we came back to the room, we found hair and dust left on the floor. The desk had some nail enamel on the top, chair lost its color some time ago, a ventilator in the bathroom wasn´t cleaned for ages, same as curtains, with the shade of dirty pigeon. Another thing is a printout of the city map. Dear staff, it was very nice of you, but print at least in better resolution (color would be great!) and use clean paper, without notes about the performance of your colleagues. ||I don´t know who gave fours stars to this place... ||Dear Gema - score for the luxury I experienced in your...
