I had a terrible experience at Hotel 1946 in Tashkent. Me and my friend booked Hotel 1946 in Tashkent for just a few hours so we could leave our luggage before a flight. We didn’t even stay overnight – only about 6–7 hours total, most of which we spent outside.
When checking out, the receptionist went upstairs, picked up a floor mat towel that was already on the ground when we arrived, brought it downstairs, and claimed we had made it dirty. The “dirt” was from the underside, meaning it was just from their dirty floor!!
They demanded we pay around £10 for a so called ‘dirty towel’ that we never even used. The towel was already on the bathroom floor when we arrived, yet the staff refused to listen and pressured us into paying. We ended up giving in only because they wouldn’t stop insisting, and the whole situation left me feeling anxious and uncomfortable. This was nothing more than a blatant scam to squeeze extra money from us!
This is completely unacceptable and dishonest. After leaving, I checked other reviews and saw that many guests had similar negative experiences. I wish I had looked earlier because I never would have booked here!!
The hotel’s management and staff behaved in a highly unprofessional manner! Even when checking in, staff were unfriendly! The room was dirty, poorly maintained, and smelled bad. When we returned to the hotel to collect our luggage, the electricity was off and the hotel was very dark. When we asked why, the staff gave no response and just gave us a blank look. Their behavior was strange and unprofessional.
If you are considering this hotel, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. There are plenty of better, more trustworthy options in Tashkent. I stayed at Hilton Tashkent and it was amazing.
Take a close look at the one-star reviews and be very cautious. Don’t be misled by the higher ratings, based on my experience and many others, they appear to be misleading and fake!!
BEWARE!!! This Hotel Is a COMPLETE SCAM and Truly Horrible! One of the WORST Hotels I’ve Ever...
Read moreI stayed here for a week. My overall experience was pleasant. Location was great since for most of the tours, they were able to pick me up from the hotel. Staff were friendly. Room itself was comfortable. They didn’t have a safe but they had complimentary water bottles everyday along with a bottle of Coke and Fanta. Bed was comfortable for me. TV didn’t have live channels but you can watch YouTube. I tried both the breakfast Buffett as well as boxed one since I had to leave before 8am some days and both were great. There is a coffee shop right next to the hotel and few good restaurants in walking distance. There is a bank next to the hotel as well where you can exchange currency. For US based people, it seems like any large amounts over $100 gets declined due to some US restrictions. I called Chase and they didn’t even see the transaction. It was getting blocked within Uzbek itself. So I had to use cash for partial payments even though the hotel was willing to submit multiple payments using card. They were very accommodating. Other than this one snafu, everything went well. I definitely would...

Good shower and extractor fan in bathroom. Good range of toiletries. No hairdryer. Bidet shower.
Although there were other tourists there, it seemed to be mainly aimed at business travellers.
Location: 10-15 mins walk to Chorzu metro. Great for the old city, with some amenities (bank, coffee shop, small supermarket) nearby, but not great for restaurants.
Breakfast was good: bread, cheese, meat, fruit (fresh & dried), kaymak, honey/jams, and cake on the table. Tea/coffee served as well as two hot courses (porridge or rice pudding followed by eggs and savoury pancakes/samsa).
Helpful, friendly staff. They used an app to get us a taxi to the airport at local rates (35,000 som). However, we had asked for an airport transfer on arrival, which never arrived. It's easy enough to get a taxi at the airport though.
Good WiFi.
